James Gordon
Reynolds
James Gordon Reynolds, 68, died Thursday morning, August 9
at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Mr. Reynolds
was born January 23, 1933; the eldest son of the late
Weldon G. and Mollie Reynolds of McKenzie. He attended
McKenzie High School and was a graduate of the University
of Tennessee with degrees in geology and criminal justice.
After high school, James enlisted in the United States
Navy and then later in the United States Army. His
distinguished military career spanned 20 years with
service in Korea, Vietnam, Norway, Belgium, Germany, the
Netherlands, and Italy, as well as assignments in the
United States. His specialized service in the Army
Intelligence merited the following decorations, medals and
awards: The Bronze Star, Good Conduct medals, Sharp
Shooter (Revolver .38), Marksman (Rifle .30) Vietnam
Service Medal with three campaign starts, Republic of
Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal,
two Overseas Service Bars, Republic of Vietnam Cross of
Gallantry and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Berlin).
Mr. Reynolds also served as an advanced military language
specialist. Upon retiring from the military, he worked in
the geological field in the Mid-South before returning to
the McKenzie area.
He is survived by a sister, Alice Vaughn of Daytona Beach,
FL and five brothers, Randolph Reynolds of Gleason, Arden
Reynolds of Memphis, Chester Reynolds of Independence, MO
and Argel Reynolds and Weldon Keith Reynolds, both of
McKenzie.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 18 at
Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church near McKenzie at
6:00 p.m. Dilday Funeral Home was is in charge of the
arrangements.
Keith Bernard Raspberry
LEXINGTON: Services for Keith Bernard Rsspberry, 23,
were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 11 at St. Paul Baptist
Church with Rev. Percy Smith officiating. Burial was in
the Lexington Cemetery. Mr. Raspberry died Monday, August
6 at Lexington Methodist from injuries received in an
automobile accident.
He is survived by his parents, Gloria Burton, Jimmy Burton
and Keith and Kathy Raspberry; his fiancee, Ms. Linda Evon
Dwiggins of Covington; three sisters, Sheketha Raspberry
of St. Louis, Missouri, Nichole Johnson of Lexington and
Gwen Clark of Cedar Grove and a brother, Clayton Riley
Raspberry of St. Louis, Missouri.
Peoples Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Dwayne E. "Bubba" Melton Jr.
MCKENZIE: Dwayne E. "Bubba" Melton Jr., 34, died
Monday, August 6, at his home at 510 Mitchell Road in the
Henry County portion of McKenzie. Funeral services were at
2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 9 at First Baptist Church with
Bro. Dennis Trull officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet
Cemetery. Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
Mr. Melton was owner and instructor at World Class Fitness
Center in McKenzie.
He was born August 20, 1966 in Paris.
He was a 1985 graduate of McKenzie High School and a
member of First Baptist Church in McKenzie.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Curtis Melton; one
daughter, Caitlynn Melton; his father, Dwayne E. Melton
Sr. and a sister, Derinda Wade, all of McKenzie.
His mother, Oleta Melton and a sister,Charlotte Melton
Harris, preceded him in death.
Mary Ruth Morris
MILAN: Services for Mary Ruth Morris, 88, were Sunday,
August 12 at 2:30 p.m. at the Hunt Funeral Home in
Bradford, with Bro. Priestley Scott officiating. Burial
was in Pleasant Green Cemetery near Bradford.
Mrs. Morris, a homemaker, died Friday, August 10 at her
residence.
She was born November 21, 1912 in Gibson County to the
late Johnny Walker and Ola Walker. She was a member of
Fairview Church of Christ.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Otha Morris and a
son, Roy Lee Morris.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Bryant of
Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Patricia Neal of Trezevant; a
son, Junior Morris of Milan; a sister, Alma Holden of
Dyersburg; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and
five great-great-grandchildren.
Pirlene Hargrove Wright
TREZEVANT: Services for Pirlene Hargrove Wright, 80,
were Friday, August 10 at 11:00 a.m., at Brummitt Funeral
Home in Trezevant with Bro. Dennis Beal officiating.
Burial was in Everett's Chapel Cemetery in McKenzie.
She died on Monday, August 6 at Crown point, Indiana.
Survivors include two sons Charles Wright and Terry
Wright, both of Cedar Lake, Indiana; six grandchildren;
eighteen great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild.
Stasson Eron Arnold
HENRY: Services for Stassen Eron Arnold, 50, were
Friday, August 10 at 2:00 p.m. at McEvoy Funeral Home with
Bro. Patrick Garvelle officiating. Burial was in McRae's
Chapel.
Mr. Arnold, owner and operator of S & S Auto Sales in
Henry, died Tuesday, August 7 at Jackson-Madison County
General Hospital.
He was born June 2, 1951 in Benton County. He was a member
of Springhill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Carver; two daughters,
Tammy Constantine of Paris and Shelly Arnold of Henry; two
sons, Kris Arnold of Jackson and Jason Arnold of Henry;
three sisters, Brenda Stockdale, Kathy Stockdale and Linda
Bolin, all of Big Sandy; his parents, Theron Lee and
Mildred Lee, both of Big Sandy, and three grandchildren.
James E. Hugueley
GLEASON: Graveside services for Dr. James E. Hugueley,
57, were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 8, at Walnut
Grove Cemetery in Rutherford, with Bro. Bob Bennett
officiating.
Mr. Hugueley, a retired professor for the University of
Memphis, died Monday, August 6 at Huntingdon Health and
Rehab Center of heart failure.
He was born August 16, 1943 in Humboldt to the late Ervin
and Gladys Redding Hugueley. He was a member of Gleason
Church of Christ.
Survivors include two brothers, Raymond Hugueley and Bobby
Hugueley, both of Gleason; and two sisters, Erma Nell
Moody of Gleason and Peggy Matlock of Southaven,
Mississippi.
Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Bernice E. Guill
TRENTON: Funeral services for Mr. Burnice E. Guill,
86, were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 9 at
Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Guill, a retired automobile tech, passed away, Monday,
August 6 at Methodist Healthcare-Central in Memphis of
respiratory failure. He was a World War II veteran serving
3½ years in the 126th Infantry, 32nd Division in New
Guinea and the Philippines and retired from Madison
Cadillac in Memphis.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Peggy Adams Guill;
a daughter, Mary Jo Guill of Trenton; a son, Bruce Hearne
Guill of Trenton; a sister, Elizabeth Guill Fagan of
Pasadina, Texas and a brother, M. A. Guill of McKenzie.
Roy Milton Butler
BRUCETON: Roy Milton Butler, 57, died Monday, August
13 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Services
were incomplete at presstime. Dilday Funeral Home is in
charge of the arrangements.
Dwayne Cloyce Vanalstine
YUMA: Services for Dewayne Cloyice Vanalstine, 55,
will be Wednesday, August 15 at 1:00 p.m. at Reed's Chapel
in Lexington. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in Yuma.
Mr. Vanalstine died Saturday, August 11 in Evanston,
Illinois.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Vanalstine of Chicago,
Illinois; his mother, Viola Vanalstine of Clarksburg;
three daughters, Patricia Ann, Amy and Vickie Vanalstine,
all of Chicago, Illinois; two sons, Dewayne Vanalstine,
Jr. and Christopher Vanalstine, both of Chicago; two
brothers, Essie Vanalstine of Saltillo and Melvin
Vanalstine of Wildersville; three sisters, Leola Swinford
of Yuma, Sheila Davis of Chandler, Indiana and Conda
Slaton of Clarksburg.
