Patricia Ann Ross
HUNTINGDON: Memorial services for Patricia Ann Ross
were held on Friday, November 2 at the family home at 177
West End in McKenzie, at which time the family received
friends.
Mrs. Ross died Wednesday, October 31 at Jackson-Madison
County Hospital.
She was born March 8, 1931 in Long Beach, California to
the late Georgia Moore King and Charles Leroy King.
She is survived by her husband, George Ross; one daughter,
Marla Ross of Pueblo, Colorado; one son, Michael Ross of
Union City; four grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
The body was cremated.
Lennie Lee Walker
PARIS: Lennie Lee Walker, 80, died of cancer on
Thursday, November 1 at Oak Manor Nursing Home in
McKenzie.
Services were at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, November 4, at McEvoy
Funeral Home with Gary S. Collier officiating. Burial was
in Maplewood Cemetery.
A Madison County native, she was born October 14, 1921 in
Medon, a daughter of the late Felix and Ervie L. Gibson
Smith.
She was married August 2, 1952 to Chesley D. Walker, who
survives.
Mrs. Walker was a homemaker and a member of West Paris
Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she leaves two sons, Johnny D.
Walker of Nashville and Kenneth Walker of Paris; and five
sisters, Addie Gallimore and Martha Merrell, both of
Dresden; Lorene Baxter of Milan, Ellie Crossno of Gleason,
and Lavada Prather of McKenzie.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Timmy Lee Walker
at three months in 1959; three sisters, Willie Estelle
Smith in infancy, Laverne Stamps and mary Hearn Brewer;
and one brother, Felix Dwayne Smith, at birth.
Maude Danner
GLEASON: Services for Maude Danner, 76, were Sunday,
November 4, at 2:00 p.m. at Beech Springs Baptist Church
with the Revs. Bob Copeland and Billy Garner officiating.
Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery.
Mrs. Danner died Friday, November 2 at Methodist Hospital
in McKenzie.
She was born November 14, 1924 in McKenzie to the late
William Franklin and Donnie Turner York. She was a member
of the Beech Springs Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Danner; one brother,
James York of Chicago, Illinois; one son, Danny Danner of
Germantown; two grandsons; and one sister, Nola Milton of
McKenzie.
Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Ivy May Williams
MCKENZIE: Services for Ivy May Williams, 92, were
Saturday, November 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home
with Rev. Jerry Summers officiating. Burial followed at
Meridian Cemetery in Greenfield.
Mrs. Williams died Wednesday, October 31 at McKenzie
Health Care Center.
She was born July 8, 1909 in Dresden to the late Edgar
Conway and Irene Crocker Conway. She was a member of
Gearin Chapel Baptist Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Wilodine Lemons and
Jean Morris, both of McKenzie, Eva Lois Morris of Dresden
and Joyce Sexton of Greenfield; three sons, Theophilus A.
Williams of Bradford, Billy W. Williams of Dresden and
Doyle Williams of Gleason; twenty-one grandchildren;
thirty-four great-grandchildren and seven
great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Theophilus Williams and a son, Richard
Williams also preceded her in death.
Otis Green "Cokie" Neely
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Otis Green "Cokie" Neely, 89, died
Saturday, November 3 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, November 6 in
the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Kenneth Massey
and Dr. Mickey Carpenter officiating. Interment followed
in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Mr. Neely was born January 9, 1912 in Carroll County to
the late Dave and Minnie Dickerson Neely. He was a
self-employed carpenter. He was preceded in death by his
wife, Louise Barnhart Neely, who died in 1981; two sons,
Earl Gordon Neely and Joe David Neely; one brother, Glenn
Neely; and two sisters, Bessie Wilson and Maggie Wilson.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Neely Wilson; one son
James Neely, both of Huntingdon; two sisters, Leecie
Turner of Camden and Irene Yarbrough of Huntingdon; and
four grandchildren.
John Thomas "Johnny" Sanders
HUNTINGDON: Mr. John Thomas "Johnny" Sanders, 67, died
Wednesday, October 31 at the Jackson-Madison County
General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on
Saturday, November 3 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel
with Brother Lloyd Ray Rich officiating. Interment
followed at McAuley Cemetery.
Mr. Sanders was born April 29, 1934 in Carroll County to
the late Tom Greene and Ollie Ridings Sanders. He was a
cook for Humphreys Bar-B-Que for several years. He was
preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Sanders, who
died in 1973 and his second wife, Lillian Sanders, who
died in 1996.
He is survived by two nieces, Sheila Segraves of Bruceton;
Becky Black Johnson of Huntindon; three nephews, Connie
Black and William Sanders, both of Huntingdon and James
Ray Sanders of Hollow Rock; and eight great-nieces and
nephews.
Iris Irine Shands
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Iris Irine Shands, 79, died
Wednesday, October 31, at the Jackson-Madison County
General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on
Saturday, November 3 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel
with Brother Matt McAdams officiating. Interment followed
at Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Shands was born December 25, 1921 to the late Zena
Oliver and Mirl Beatrice Burch Blankenship in Henderson
County. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pisgah
Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert
Shands who died in 1994 and a son, Jerry Shands.
She is survived by two daughters, Robbie Butler of Buena
Vista and Carol Waugh of Yuma; four sons, Larry Shands and
Roger Shands, both of Huntingdon; Darrell Shands of
Westport and Ricky Shands of McKenzie; one sister, June
Williams of Bruceton; one brother, Oliver Blankenship of
Camden; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and
one great-great-grandchild.
Margie White
MCLEMORESVILLE: Mrs. Margie White, 95, died Sunday,
November 4 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, November 6 at
1:00 p.m. at the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Buddy
Chandler officiating. Interment followed in the
McLemoresville Cemetery.
Mrs. White was born October 7, 1907 in Columbia to the
late Joe Monroe and Tennie Cora Pipkin Ham. She was a
housewife and a member of the McLemoresville Baptist
Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Geraldine Taylor of Camden;
a son, Billy White of McKenzie; one sister, Katherine
Brown of Memphis; four grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.
Seth L. Rogers
CEDAR GROVE: Mr. Seth L. Rogers, 69, died Monday,
November 5 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted
on Wednesday, November 7 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel
with Brother Robert Barger officiating. Interment will
follow at Finley Cemetery.
Mr. Rogers was born January 27, 1932 in Huntingdon to the
late Luther and Lillian Pryor Rogers. He was preceded in
death by a brother, Edward Rogers.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Rogers; three
daughters, Julie Billingsly of Troy, Missouri, Jody Holmes
of Collierville and Sue Cutright of St. Peters, Missouri;
three sons, Seth Rogers, Jr. and Dale Rogers, both of
Cedar Grove and Billy Rogers of McKenzie; one sister,
Nancy Murphy of Huntingdon; 11 grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.
Aubry "Shiley" James
CEDAR GROVE: Services for Aubry "Shiley" James, 76,
retired from Milan Box Factory and farmer were Wednesday,
October 31 at 2:00 p.m. at Blue Goose United Pentecostal
Church with burial in James Cemetery in Cedar Grove. Mr.
James died Monday, October 29 at Lexington Methodist
Hospital.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Catherine James; a daughter,
Mary Helen Azbill of Cedar Grove; a son, Aubrey Lee James
of Cedar Grove; three sisters, Berdine McDaniel and Susie
James, both of Jackson and Hattie Arthur of Selmer; five
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by a son, Ben David James.
Reed's Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
John Hicks
MCKENZIE: John Hicks, 85, passed away Monday night,
November 5 at Methodist Hospital in McKenzie. Funeral
arrangements were incomplete at presstime.
