OBITUARIES FOR WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2001 

Harold Lloyd Carter
HUNTINGDON:
Mr. Harold Lloyd Carter, 71, died Tuesday, October 2 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, October 4 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Brothers Larry Pinson, Rufus Chandler and Philip Halters officiating, Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Carter was born September 25, 1930 to the late Charlie and Lilley Carter in Carroll County. He was a retired Rabies Control officer for 30 years, a Carroll County Schools bus driver for 25 years and a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Woodmen of the World and a former member of the Huntingdon Ruritan Club. He was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Foster; and two brothers, Howard Carter and Gerald Carter.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dorothy Newman Carter; one daughter, Michelle Eaton of McKenzie; two sons, Tim Carter and Kevin Carter, both of Huntingdon; two sisters, Edith Mason and Betty Meggs, both of Huntingdon; three brothers, Clarence Carter, John Carter and Giles Carter, all of Huntingdon and four grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Daisy Uneta Nolen
MCKENZIE:
Services for Daisy Uneta Nolen, 82 will be Saturday, October 13 at Obion River District Headquarters in McKenzie with the Rev. Joe H. Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Home in Paris is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Nolen, widow of Nathaniel Nolen, died Wednesday, October 3 at her residence.
She was born February 6, 1919 in Covington to the late Obediah Reynolds and Daisy Chatman Reynolds. She was a member of Enon Missionary Baptist Church and served as youth director at Enon and Obion River District for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Daisy Dudley of McKenzie and Vitular Gilbert of Chicago, Illinois; two sons, James Nolen of Chicago, Illinois and Terry Nolen of McKenzie; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Raymond Alfred Dorsett, Sr.
BRUCETON:
Services for Raymond Alfred Dorsett, Sr., 87, were Friday, October 5 at 2:30 p.m. at Hollow Rock Methodist Church with Rev. Robert White officiating. Burial was in the New Prospect Cemetery near Hollow Rock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Letha Leone Dorsett.
Mr. Dorsett, retired superintendent and coach in the Texas school system, died Tuesday, October 2 at Lifecare in Bruceton.
He was born February 17, 1914 in Dodge City, Kansas to the late Alfred M. and Goldie M. Parkin Dorsett. He was a member of Hollow Rock Methodist Church; a former Mason and Scottish Rite and Shriner.
Survivors include one daughter and one son, Ella May Wyatt of Bruceton and Ray Dorsett, Jr. of El Paso, Texas; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Nadine King Parker
HUNTINGDON:
Services for Nadine King Parker, 64, were Saturday, October 6 at 4:00 p.m. at Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Lonnie Parker officiting. Burial was in Humble Cemetery.
Mrs. Parker died Wednesday, October 3 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
She was born July 27, 1937 in Huntingdon to the late Charlie King and Christiner (Willis) King. She was a member of Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband Joseph Paul Parker; four daughters, Gloria Huffman of McKenzie, Margaret Knight and Christella Moore, both of Huntingdon and Brandy Parker of Antioch; three sons, Dexter Parker of Bruceton, Joseph (JJ) Parker and Jeffery Parker, both of Lexington; eight sisters, Bonnie Staten, Jessie Jamison, Raylene Jamison, Virgie Chapple, Miralyn Johnson and Eva Carter, all of Huntingdon, Rosalyn Milam of McKenzie and Wanda Cook of Jackson; four brothers, Mike King, Mack King and Charlie Lee King, all of Huntingdon and Leon King of Bay City, Michigan; and thirteen grandchildren.
Trinity Funeral Home of Paris was in charge of the arrangements.

Joe Louis Yarbrough
HUNTINGDON:
Mr. Joe Louis Yarbrough, 64, died Saturday, October 6 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, October 10 at Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Lonnie Parker officiating. Interment followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Yarbrough was born September 18, 1937 to the late Sandy and Verona Tharpe Yarbrough. He was an employee of Milan Arsenal for 30 years, a member of National Guard for 30 years and a member of Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom McCauley.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mildred Williams Yarbrough; four sons, Princeton Yarbrough, Vasquze Yarbrough, Dwarry W. Yarbrough and Vincent R. Yarbrough, all of Huntingdon; three daughters, Marie Yarbrough and Kim O. Melton, both of Huntingdon and Sonya Yarbrough of Clarksville; one sister, DeLois Jamison of Huntingdon; fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Irene Blankenship Bishop
CEDAR GROVE:
Mrs. Irene Blankenship Bishop, 73, died Thursday, October 4 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, October 6 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Wayne Holmes officiating. Interment followed at New Bethel Cemetery.
Mrs. Bishop was born April 16, 1928, to the late Dewey and Clara Roberson Blankenship in Arkansas. She was a retired production worker for the Milan Arsenal and a member of Hickory Flat Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Bishop, and a daughter, Janette Bishop.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Ann Crider of Huntingdon and Vivian Kyle of Cedar Grove; two sisters, Lucille Jones of Cedar Grove and Marene Hollingsworth of Bruceton; three brothers, J. D. Blankenship of Huntingdon, Chester Lee Blankenship and James Blankenship, both of Cedar Grove; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Harold Donald Crider
HUNTINGDON:
Mr. Harold Donald Crider, 61, died Monday, October 1 at his home. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, October 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Goodpasture and Bro. Ricky DePriest officiating. Interment followed in the Sellers Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Crider was born September 8, 1940 in Carroll County, to the late Lowell Alberta and Clytie Martha Jane Wiles Crider. One sister, Carolyn Joanne Depriest, also preceded him in death. He was a member of the Huntingdon Church of Christ, a veteran of the United States Army and a retired shipping handler for Norandal USA in Huntingdon.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Wheet Crider; two daughters, Cynthia Haynes of Holladay and Paula Kee of Huntingdon; one sister, Linda Doris Allen of Trezevant; five grandchildren and three step grandchildren.

Richard D. Sanders
SPRINGVILLE:
Services for Richard Donald Sanders were at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 6 at Russwood Baptist Church, where he was a member with Pastor Kenneth Basham officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Cemetery.
Sanders, 73, died Tuesday, October 2 at Baptist Memorial East Hospital in Memphis.
A Paris native, he was born October 31, 1927, a son of the late Cager A. and Cessie Mae Hoofman Sanders. He was married March 15, 1951 to the former Hilda F. Fail, who survives.
A member of VFW, Sanders retired from the U.S. Air Force as a senior master sergeant and air traffic control supervisor. He taught school in McKenzie and Huntingdon for 16 years.
In addition to his wife, he leaves four daughters, Cynthia Brown of Henry, Patricia Hamlyn of Memphis, Theresa Sanders of Salem, Oregon and Debra Boaz of Murray; two sisters, Lucille Flowers and Betty Swor, both of Springville; a brother, Fred Sanders of Paris and two grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Laverne Merrell, Nonis Whichcar and Corene Ridley and four brothers, Floyd, Homer, Prince and Curtis Sanders.
Memorials may be made to the needy children's fund at Russwood Baptist Church.

Mary Grace Martin
MCKENZIE:
Services for Mary Grace Martin, 90, were Friday, October 5 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in McKenzie with Drs. John Adams and Dennis Trull officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mrs. Martin, widow of Caywood Hopewell Martin, died Tuesday, October 2 at Oak Manor Health Center in McKenzie.
She was born April 3, 1911 in McKenzie to the late Grace Baker Everett and Clint Everett. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann Adams of McKenzie and Kay Parker of Milan; one sister, Kay Rosenfelder of Humboldt; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Harris Sullivan
HUNTINGDON:
Mrs. Dorothy Sullivan died Monday, October 8 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral arrangements were incomplete at presstime. Dilday Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Melba Oneda Stepp
CAMDEN:
Services for Melba Oneda Stepp, 80, were Thursday, October 4, at 2:00 p.m. at the Stockdale-Malin Chapel in Camden. Burial was in Sandy Point Cemetery in Camden. Mrs. Stepp died Tuesday, October 2 at Camden General Hospital.
Surviving are daughters, Faye Hall and Gail Hubbs, both of Camden and Sue Smotherman of St. John, Indiana; a son, Troy Stepp, Jr. of Nashville; a sister, Lawanna Wood of Paragould, Arkansas and brothers, Onea Douglas of Bruceton and O.J. Douglas and Ray Douglas, both of Camden.
Her husband, Troy Stepp, preceded her in death.

Athala S. Brawner
GLEASON:
Services for Athala Brawner, 76, were at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 4 at Gallimore Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Pinnell officiating. Burial was in Everetts Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Brawner, widow of Ralph Berryhill Brawner, died Monday at her home in E. Pointe, Michigan of heart failure.
She was born November 23, 1924 in Union City to the late J. H. and Myrtle Petty Clayborn.
Survivors include a son, Bradley Brawner of McComb, Michigan; a sister, Carolyn Luttrell of Memphis and two grandchildren.

Mildred Mary Leaver
MCKENZIE:
Graveside services for Mildred Mary Leaver, 83 were Saturday, October 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Old Salem Cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Leaver, retired nursing home assistant, died Wednesday afternoon, October 3, at Methodist Hospital in McKenzie.
She was born June 17, 1917 in McKenzie to the late Maggie Mae Campbell Leaver and Eddie Lester Leaver. She was a member of Salem Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Fred Eugene Winston
MCKENZIE:
Services for Fred Eugene Winston, 76, will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 10 at Brummitt Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Trull officiating. Burial will be in Bevill Cemetery in Paris.
Mr. Winston, a retired barber, died Monday morning, October 8 at Methodist Hospital in McKenzie.
He was born June 17, 1925 in Paris to the late Fred Herbert Winston and Olga Page Winston. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in McKenzie and a Mason.
He leaves his wife Anne Mae Adams Winston.
Brummitt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Jane Moore
MCKENZIE:
Memorial services for Mary Jane Moore, 58, will be held Wednesday, October 10 at Brummitt Funeral Home. The body was cremated.
Mrs. Moore, a retired teacher, died Saturday, October 6 at Oak Manor Health Care Center in McKenzie.
She was born January 26, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Ruby Gaston Boyd and Lee Clifton Boyd. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter, Laura Michelle Moore Barker of Lugoff, South Carolina; a son, James Edward Moore of Vilseck, Germany; two brothers, James Wray Boyd of McKenzie and Jeffrey Michael Boyd of Derwood, Maryland and three grandchildren.
