Janie M. Hall
BRUCETON: Funeral services for Janie M. Hall, 70, were
at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 31 at Mt. Ararat Baptist
Church in Trezevant. Burial followed in Mt. Ararat
Cemetery . Mrs. Hall died Thursday, August 23, at Baptist
Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Survivors include two daughers, Gwen Collier of Los
Angeles, California and Sandra Hutch of Perris,
California; and a son, Sammy Hall of Bruceton.

Margaret Ellen Sutton
MCLEMORESVILLE: Funeral services for Margaret Ellen
Sutton, 70, were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 30 at
McLemoresville United Methodist Church with Brothers Tommy
Martin and Buddy Chandler officiating. Burial was in
McLemoresville Cemetery.
Ms. Sutton, a production worker for Henry I. Siegel, died
Tuesday, August 28 at the McKenzie Health Care Center of
heart failure.
She was born February 27, 1931 to the late W. F. and Ora
Pafford Freeman, in Carroll County. She was also preceded
in death by six brothers, Laymond Holland, Lyndell
Holland, Tilmon Holland, Harold Holland, Ezera Holland and
Sherman Holland.
Survivors include two daughters, Amber Gay Milam of
Nashville and Jackie Poole of McLemoresville; two sisters,
Christine Barker and Mildred Kelly; two brothers, Bill
Holland and James Holland, both of McLemoresville; three
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Bennie Morgan, Jr.
MCKENZIE: Funeral services for Bennie Morgan, Jr., 59,
were at Brummitt Funeral Home of McKenzie on Friday,
August 31 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Vance Rushing
officiating. Burial was in Union Academy Cemetery in
McKenzie.
Mr. Morgan, who was disabled, died Tuesday, August 28 at
his home.
He was born July 29, 1942 in Carroll County to the late
Clara Mae Wheeler Morgan and Bennie Morgan, Sr. He was a
member of Enon Baptist Church in McKenzie. He was also
preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Hall and Evelyn
Sydnor.
Survivors include his wife Margie Fuzzell Morgan; two
sons, Dennis Morgan and Prentice Morgan, both of
Nashville; a daughter-in-law, Leah Morgan of Nashville; a
sister, Ruth Morgan of McKenzie; and two brothers, Bobby
Morgan of McKenzie and Williams Morgan of Cedar Grove.
Carl M. Gertz
BOURBONNAIS, ILLINOIS: Funeral services for Carl M.
Gertz, 76, were on Wednesday, August 29 at 11:00 a.m. at
Messiah Lutheran Church in Park Ridge, Illinois, with Rev.
Mark Larson officiating. Burial was in Park Ridge,
Illinois. Mr. Gertz resided in McKenzie from 1989 until
1997 on Tower Road and was active in AARP and contributed
as a volunteer in many organizations.
Mr. Gertz passed away at his home on Saturday, August 25.
He was born on December 13, 1924 in Mead, Nebraska to the
late Charles and Christine Springer Gertz.
He served in the United States Air Corps from March 25,
1943 until November 21, 1945. He was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Letzow Gertz, who he
married in Chicago, Illinois on May 22, 1948; two
daughters, Charlene Lobitz of DesPlaines, Illinois and
Christine Landewehr and husband Robert of Orland Park,
Illinois; two sisters, Freida White of McHenry, Illinois
and Camille McManus of Casper, Wyoming; two
sisters-in-law, Kathryn Gallagher of Bartlett, Illinois
and Camille Gertz; one brother-in-law Lewis Letzow of
Chicago, Illinois; seven grandchildren, James and Kim
Lobitz, Scott and Coleen Kowalski, Margaret Lobitz and
Jeff and Tim Landwehr; and two great-grandchildren, Maggie
Kate and Moira.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the American
Heart Association.
Bradley Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes was in
charge of the arrangements.
Jo Ann Springer
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Jo Ann Springer, 59, died Sunday,
August 26 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, August 29 at
2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother
Wayne Holmes officiating. Interment followed in the
Humbles Cemetery.
Mrs. Springer was born September 12, 1941 in North
Carolina to the late Joseph Allen and Fannie Gray Sutton
Clifton. Before becoming ill, she was a certified nursing
assistant for the Life Care Center in Bruceton.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Fowler of Memphis
and Sherry Springer of Huntingdon; one son, Kent Springer
of Huntingdon and one sister, Donna Atkinson of Waukegan,
Illinois.
Robert Lee Jackson
HUNTINGDON: Services for Mr. Robert Lee Jackson, 69,
were at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 1 at Concord
Missionary Baptist Church, with Brothers Rufus Chandler
and Jerry Dodd officiating. Burial was in the New Hope
Cemetery in Yuma.
Mr. Jackson, Courier for Jackson Press Truck, died
Wednesday, August 29 at Baptist Memorial Hospital of heart
failure.
He was born June 6, 1932, to the late Harvey and Hattie
Mai Holladay Jackson in Carroll County. He was an army
veteran who served in the Korean Conflict. He was also
preceded in death by two sons, Robert Lee Jackson, Jr. and
Robert Kyle Jackson and a sister, Helene Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sue Floyd Jackson; two
sons, Bradley Gene Jackson of Sanger, Texas and Kevin Dale
Jackson of Huntingdon; three daughters, Rhonda Lee Reed
and Kimberly Dawn Whitten of Huntingdon and Donna Sue Webb
of Louden; and two sisters, Janie Marie Brandon and Hazel
Kirksey, both of Huntingdon; 10 grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Samuel W. Beasley
JACKSON: Funeral services for Mr. Samuel Wardell
Beasley, 84, were held Friday, August 31 at 2:00 p.m. at
Berean Baptist Church.
Mr. Beasley was born December 14, 1916 in Vicksburg,
Mississippi, the only child of Saul and Mable Beasley.
Shortly after his birth, he moved with his family to
Carroll County (Huntingdon). For a while he lived with his
grandmother, Mrs. Rhonda Hill, in St. Louis, Missouri
where he attended elementary school. He returned to
Carroll County and attended Webb High School in McKenzie.
He then attended Lane College in Jackson and graduated
with a BA degree in education in 1941.
Following graduation, Mr. Beasley began his teaching
career in a one-room school in Carroll County. One year
later, he was drafted into military service and served
three and one half years in the U. S. Army, with service
in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. While stationed in
Los Angeles, he and his college sweetheart were married on
September 21, 1943. They later settled in Henderson County
and he began teaching at Montgomery High School, coached
football and girls and boys basketball. He completed
graduate studies and received a Master's Degree from
Tennessee State University.
Survivors include his wife, Juanette Beasley; two
daughters, Rhonda Malone of Champaign, Illinois and
Barbara Ross of Sacramento, California; five grandchildren
and one great-grandchild.
Dorothy Adell Skinner
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Dorothy Adell Skinner, 71, died
Friday, August 31 at the Jackson-Madison County General
Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Monday,
September 3 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with
Reverend Fred Ward officiating. Interment followed in the
Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Skinner, the daughter of the late John Leonard and
Mary Mozella Johnson Reaves, was born July 23, 1930. She
was a retired employee of the Thomas Bradford Company and
a member of Huntingdon First Baptist Church. She was also
preceded in death by her husband, Albert Ernest Skinner,
who died in 1992.
She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Ditmore of
Garden City, Michigan, Laura Johnson of Palmersville, and
Dorothy Allison of Huntingdon; four sons, Al Skinner of
Ventura, California, Victor Skinner of Livonia, Michigan;
Lorne Skinner of Fair Oaks, California, and Keith Skinner
of Huntingdon; three sister, Gladys Brethauer of Lansing,
Michigan, Peggy Perritt of McKenzie and Wanda West of
Houston, Texas; six brothers, Eugene Reaves of Lansing,
Michigan, Joe Reaves, Jerry Reaves and Charles Reaves, all
of McKenzie, Cecil Reaves of Trezevant and Bobby Reaves of
Paris; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mary Jane Harder
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Mary Jane Harder, 72, died Monday,
September 3 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral
services will be conducted on Thursday, September 6 at the
Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Ed Fisher and
Father Joseph Palozzi officiating. Interment will be in
the Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Harder was born April 17, 1929 to the late Joseph and
Mary Marcin Sholtis in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a
homemaker and a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, William Harder
and one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Weekly of Huntingdon; one
son, William Dale Harder of Parma, Ohio; two sisters,
Irene Kloscak of Massa, Arizona and Eleanor Kepic of Avon
Lake, Ohio; one brother, Robert Sholtis of Sun City,
Arizona and three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be
made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
Walter Leston Etheridge
GLEASON: Funeral services fro Walter Leston Etheridge,
85, will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 5 at
Gallimore Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Tumbling
Creek Cemetery in Gleason.
Mr. Etheridge died Monday, September 3 at Henry County
Medical Center of heart failure. His wife, Queen Ester
Etheridge preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Ditmore Etheridge of McKenzie
and Dwain Etheridge of Huntingdon; one stepson, Murray
McFarland of Paris and two sisters, Gracie Moody of
Gleason and May Lane of Dyersburg.
