Bethel's First Early Registration Day Draws Large Response |
The first of three Early Registration Days at Bethel
College proved to be a tremendous success as 77
freshmen and transfer students participated and
enrolled for Fall 2001. Early Registration Days, a
program that helps incoming students, and their
families, make the transition to college life less
daunting, were set for three days throughout the
summer. The first was June 16, the second will be July
14 and the final day on August 10.Bethel continues
to draw more interest from people ready to begin or
continue their college career. With 27 majors and 23
minors, Bethel offers programs that meet the needs of
today's college student. The newest major at Bethel is
the Pre-Physician Assistant Studies, designed to
prepare students for graduate work in Physician
Assistant, Nurse Practitioner or other medical fields.
The ThinkPad College program also keeps Bethel at the
forefront of higher education in West Tennessee, and
throughout the Mid-South. Bethel was the first "IBM
ThinkPad College" in Tennessee and remains one of an
elite group of colleges and universities that
participate in the IBM program.
With the ThinkPad program, new majors and academic
programs, enhanced Theater, Music and Art programs and
up and coming athletic teams, Bethel is quickly
becoming the first choice for students throughout the
Mid-South. Because of this expanding interest, it is
important that new students make every effort to
attend an Early Registration Day.
If you are planning to attend Bethel College this
fall, the July 14 Early Registration Day is your
opportunity to take placement tests, meet with a
faculty advisor, register for classes and complete
financial aid and housing paperwork. It also allows
parents the chance to tour the campus and learn more
about Bethel College.
To participate in the next registration date, you must
apply and be accepted for admission. To apply to
Bethel College, contact the Bethel College Admissions
Office at 731-352-4030.

Superintendent Jim Ward Convenes First School Board
Meeting |
By Deborah Turner
In his first formal meeting of the McKenzie Board of
Education, Superintendent Jim Ward turned a positive
and progressive face toward the future. Added as a
footer to every piece of correspondence that leaves
his office is the slogan, "Your efforts will make us
better." The slogan recognizes both individual and
team efforts in improving McKenzie's schools for both
students and faculty.
The Wednesday evening meeting took place at the
McKenzie Board of Education Building at 7:00 p.m. on
June 27, 2001, with Chairman Ruth Carroll presiding.
Key in the agenda were personnel changes which have
taken place since the April, 2001 board meeting.
