William Edward "Bill" Rush
1951-2002
MCKENZIE: Mr. William Edward "Bill" Rush, 51, died
on Wednesday, November 27 at the Methodist Hospital in
McKenzie. Memorial services were conducted on Saturday,
November 30 at 3:00 p.m. in the East Visitation Room of
Dilday Funeral Home with Brother Bill Goodpasture
officiating.
Mr. Rush was born on November 4, 1951 in Huntingdon. He
was a self-employed truck driver. His father, James
Lawrence Rush, a sister, Mary Sue LaRose and a brother,
James Rush preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Rush of Hazel
Park, Michigan; his mother, Hattie Rush of McKenzie; his
companion, Sandra Barker of McKenzie and a sister,
Mildred Kay Pushman of Woodhaven, Michigan.
Francis Bernard "Frank" Gurschick
1954-2002
Cedar Grove: Mr. Francis Bernard "Frank" Gurschick,
48, died on Friday, November 29 at his home. Graveside
services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 4 at
1:00 p.m. at New Bethel Cemetery with Brother Wayne
Gurschick officiating.
Mr. Gurschick was born on February 22, 1954 in Maine to
the late John and Gladys St. Cyr Gurschick. He was a
Wal-Mart associate.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheyanne Gurschick of
Bingham, Maine and Alison Gurschick of Cedar Grove; two
sons, Francis Gurschick II of South Windham, Maine and
Samuel Gurschick of Cedar Grove; three sisters, Janet
Deheitre, Raphael Bragg and Amy Hovey, all of Turner,
Maine; four brothers, John Gurschick, Jr. of Cedar
Grove, and Fritz Gurschick, Gary Gurschick and Wayne
Gurschick, all of Turner Maine and one granddaughter.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Ricky Cottingham Cooley
1963-2002
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Ricky Cottingham Cooley, 39, died on
Wednesday, November 27 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital
in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on
Saturday, November 30 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chase Funeral
Home Chapel with Bro. Lloyd Ray Rich officiating.
Interment followed in the Christian Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Cooley was born October 23, 1963 in Jones County,
Mississippi. He was an electrician for the Hornsby
Electric Company, an army veteran and a member of the
Calvary Baptist Church of Bruceton.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Cooley, his mother and
stepfather, Janet and Dorman M. Cottingham of Hollow
Rock; two stepdaughters, Megan Gooch and Adriene Gooch;
one stepson, Alan Gooch, Jr., all of Huntingdon; one
sister, Heather Hill of Humboldt; and two brothers,
David Cottingham of Hollow Rock and Chris Cottingham of
Jackson.
Henry "Doc" Holladay
1924-2002
CEDAR GROVE: Mr. Henry "Doc" Holladay, 78, died on
Wednesday, November 27 at the Methodist Hospital in
McKenzie. Funeral services were conducted on Friday,
November 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home
Chapel with Bro. Robert Barger officiating. Interment
followed in the Ferguson Cemetery in Cedar Grove.
Mr. Holladay was born on August 18, 1924 in Carroll
County to the late Ernest and Algie Crider Holladay. He
was a retired factory worker for Ceco Door Products in
Milan, a farmer, an avid rabbit hunter, a member of the
Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church and a World War II
veteran. Three brothers, James Holladay, Audrain
Holladay and Holbert Laws and two sisters, Inell Sanders
and Mozell Williams preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Tines
Holladay; three sons, Michael Dee Holladay of Medina,
Billy Steven Holladay and Bobby Gordon Holladay, both of
Cedar Grove; one brother, Gordon Holladay of Bruceton
and seven grandchildren.
Rachel Jordan
1923-2002
HOLLOW ROCK: Services for Rachel Jordan, 79, were at
11:00 a.m., Monday, December 2 at Prospect Baptist
Church with the Revs. James Daniel and David Bayer
officiating. Interment was in Prospect Cemetery.
Mrs. Jordan, a retired cashier for F.W. Woolworth, died
on Friday, November 29 at Jackson-Madison County General
Hospital.
She was born on April 29, 1923 in Hollow Rock to the
late Clarence and Ruby Mae Campbell Bennett. She was a
member of Prospect Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Frances White of
Titusville, Florida and Pat Skwarek of Plano, Texas;
four sisters, Sadie Brown of Highland Park, Michigan and
Juanite Green, Brooxie Brinkley and Jean McMackin, all
of Hollow Rock; a brother, Lee Bennett of Hollow Rock,
seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Bruceton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
A.M. Kennon
1916-2002
PARIS: Former First United Methodist custodian A.M.
Kennon, 86, was dead on arrival Tuesday, November 26 at
Henry County Medical Center. Services were at 11:00
a.m., Friday, November 29 at Ridgeway Funeral Home in
Paris.
Born on January 12, 1916 in Gleason, he was the son of
the late James Neese Kennon and Sallie Cosby Kennon.
He was married August 5, 1951 to the former Dorothy Nell
Story, who survives.
Kennon retired in 1987 after working 13 years at First
United Methodist Church in Paris. He was also formerly
employed with Direct Oil and Paris Dairy.
Survivors also include a son, Kenny Kennon of Paris, one
stepson, Guy Dudley Pate of Paris; four grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, Mabel Boane and Evelyn Lemonds and two
brothers, Neumie and James R.C. Kennon also preceded him
in death.
Kenneth McClure
1932-2002
PEKIN, ILLINOIS: Kenneth R. McClure, 70, died on
Thursday, November 28 at OSF Saint Francis Medical
Center in Peoria, Illinois.
Born April 2, 1932 in McKenzie to the late John and Lula
Stafford McClure, he married Jean Ray, who survives, on
March 2, 1957 in Corinth, Mississippi.
Also surviving are two daughters, Vicky J. Nelson of
Wichita, Kansas and A. Hope Udry of Pekin; three
granddaughters; two sisters, Maureen Hopper of Atwood
and Frances Foster of McKenzie and one brother, Bill
McClure of Dickson.
Three brothers, Charles McClure, Gene McClure and Jack
McClure also preceded him in death. He was a United
States Naval veteran of the Korean War.
A member of the Bakery, Confectionery and Tobacco
Workers International Union, he worked for many years at
Interstate Brands Bakery in Peoria, retiring in 1991. He
previously worked as a meat cutter.
He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post No. 4939 in McKenzie and a member of the New Hope
Presbyterian Church near McKenzie.
Services were at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 3 at
Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel with the Rev.
Robert N. Brite, Jr. officiating. Entombment was at
Lakeside Mausoleum in Pekin where military rites were
accorded.

James Allen "Jim" McDaniel
1934-2002
PARIS: James Allen "Jim" McDaniel, 68, died on
Friday, November 29 at his home. The body was cremated.
A memorial services is set for 2:00 p.m., December 7 at
Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Paris where he
was a member. Ridgeway Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
Born on May 25, 1934 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he was a son of
the late Elmer Ray McDaniel and Mary Bougher McDaniel.
He was married on January 14, 1977 to the former Betty
Marie Pearson, who survives.
McDaniel was a retired Independent Life Insurance agent.
He also worked for the Henry County School System as a
bus driver and he was a veteran.
Additional survivors include four sons, David and
Richard McDaniel, both of Jackson, Brad McDaniel of
Humboldt and Mark Aguirre of McKenzie; one daughter,
Marigene Hughes of Jackson; one sister, Jean Terrell of
Tulsa; two brothers, Ray McDaniel of Minnesota and Bob
McDaniel of Tulsa; nine grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
One son, Michael Aguirre, also preceded him in death.
Eric Swardson
1972-2002
FORT WAYNE, INDIANA: Eric Swardson, 30, died on
Wednesday, November 27 at University of Louisville
Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky from injuries sustained
in an automobile accident in Kentucky.
Born in Chicago, Illinois and a resident of McKenzie, he
was a mechanical engineer with Dana Corporation since
1995. He graduated from Munster High School in 1990,
received his Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering
at Purdue University and his masters in mechanical
engineering from the University of Toledo. He was a
member of the Vine Community Church in Paris.
Survivors include his wife, Raquel Swardson of McKenzie;
his parents, Dale and Mary Swardson of Munster; a son,
Gabriel and a daughter, Mariah, both of McKenzie; three
foster children, Blake, Drew and Brice, also of
McKenzie; one sister, Arnie Swardson of Baltimore,
Maryland; his grandmother, Margaret Kramer of Munster;
his father-in-law, Van Rockefeller, Sr. and his wife,
Lynda of Fort Wayne; sisters-in-law, Rebecca and Angie
Rockefeller, both of Fort Wayne; and one brother-in-law,
Van "Rocky" Rockefeller, Jr.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 4 at
D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017
Maplecrest Road. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to
2:00 p.m. prior to the services.

LEXINGTON: Services for Delinda "Dee" Myracle Smith,
55, were at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, December 1 at Reeds
Chapel in Lexington. Burial followed in the New Hope
Cemetery in Yuma.
Her parents, Jack and Carolyn Myracle preceded her in
death.
Survivors include her daughter, Tania Spooner of Corpus
Christi, Texas; one son, Michael Smith of Henderson;
seven sisters, Paulette Maness and Anita Lemonds of
Lexington, Betty Ziulek and Cindy Simonelli of Illinois,
Eddie Susan Jeffries of Tyler, Texas, Charlotte Chadwick
of McKenzie and Lisa Breeden of Yuma and three
grandchildren.
Frances Phillips Williams
1955-2002
SAGINAW, MICHIGAN: Services for Frances Phillips
Williams, 47, formerly of Trezevant, were at 1:00 p.m.,
Tuesday, December 3 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in
Trezevant. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Williams died on Friday, November 29 at Southern
Regional Hospital in Riverdale, Georgia.
She was born January 19, 1955 in Carroll County to the
late R.L. and Pearl Vaughn Phillips. She was a member of
the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Trezevant.
Survivors include her husband, Willie Williams, Jr.;
five brothers, Billy Joe Phillips, Bobby Phillips and
Richard L. Phillips, all of Nashville; Raymond Phillips
of Decatur, Illinois and Arthur Phillips of Jackson and
two sisters, Brenda Ellison of Flint Michigan and Marcie
Phillips of Atlanta, Georgia.

John Edward Davis
1924-2002
MCKENZIE: Services for John Edward Davis, 78, will
be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 6 at Brummitt Funeral
Home with Bro. John Forgy officiating. The body will be
cremated.
Mr. Davis, a retired truck driver and coal miner, died
on Sunday, December 1 at Methodist Hospital in McKenzie.
He was born July 26, 1924 in Castle Gate, Utah to the
late Zella Anderson Davis and William E. Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Beulah M. Davis; two sons,
John D. Davis of Fair Oak, California and Edward R.
Davis of Dearborn Heights, Michigan; three daughters,
Patricia A. Davis and Sandra J. Mungor, both of
Sacramento, California and Susan M. Akins of McKenzie;
two sisters, one of Tijeras, New Mexico and Carol Jean
McRaven of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; eleven grandchildren;
twelve great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.
