Paul Everett Burlison
MCKENZIE: Services for Paul Everett Burlison, 65, were
held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 17 at Brummitt
Funeral Home with Bro. Fred Morris officiating. Burial was
in Everett's Chapel in McKenzie.
Mr. Everett died Monday, April 15 at McKenzie Methodist
Hospital.
He was born March 29, 1937 in Tiptonville to the late Ida
Rosa Burlison and Woodrow Burlison. A brother, Melvin
Burlison, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include three sons, Terry Burlison and Freddie
Duke of McKenzie and Paul Anthony Burlison, Jr. of
Huntingdon; three sisters, Evie Haney of McKenzie, Agnes
Ham of Finley and Peggy Cornwell of Wynne, Arkansas; five
brothers, Richard Burlison of New Johnsonville, Clyde
Burlison of Bunnell, Florida, Jackey Burlison of
Huntingdon, Elvin Burlison of Paris, and Billy Burlison of
Cumberland City; and three grandchildren.Audrey L.
Johnson
GLEASON: Services for Audrey L. Johnson, 73, were at
11:30 a.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Price
officiating. Burial followed in Rushing Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson died Monday, April 15 at Henry County Medical
Center in Paris.
She was born June 21, 1928 in Hardin, Illinois to the late
William Lee Ettes and Mildred Squier.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Johnson; a son, Bob
Johnson of St. Peters, Missouri; a daughter, Becky
Chiasson of Dupo, Illinois; a sister, Shirley Ducey of
O'Fallon, Missouri, six grandchildren and 19
great-grandchildren.
Hazel Nadine Moore
TREZEVANT: Services for Hazel Nadine Moore, 74, were
held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 22 at Brummitt Funeral
Home in Trezevant with Bro. Dennis Beal officiating.
Burial followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Greenfield.
Mrs. Moore died Saturday, April 20 at Jackson-Madison
County General Hospital.
Her husband, Bill Moore, preceded her in death.
She was born April 17, 1928 to the late Mary Bannister and
Gilbert Bannister.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty J. Crocker of
McKenzie; two sons, Larry Stout of Jackson and Mike Moore
of Humboldt; two sisters, Regina Forne of Memphis and
Modine Walker of Greenfield; two brothers, Jack Bannister
of Chicago, Illinois and Kenneth Bannister of Memphis;
nine grandchildren, Randy Crocker, Carol Plunk, Steve
Crocker, Lisa Crocker, Jennifer Townes, Jason Moore,
Justin Moore, Traci Creasy and Andrea Rushton; and 12
great-grandchildren.
Melvin Leon Ellis
MCKENZIE: Services for Melvin Leon Ellis, 82, were at
2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 20 at Brummitt Funeral Home
with Bro. Keith Pence officiating. Burial was in Carroll
Memorial Gardens in McKenzie.
Mr. Ellis, a retired truck driver, died Thursday
afternoon, April 18 at McKenzie Health Care Center.
He was born November 12, 1919 in Greenfield to the late
Brinnie Cantrell Ellis and Robert C. Ellis. He was a
member of the First United Methodist Church and the
American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellis of McKenzie and two
brothers, Garland Ellis of McKenzie and John W. Ellis of
Dyer.
Louis Donald "Don" Pruett
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Louis Donald "Don" Pruett, 70, died
Monday, April 15 at the Jackson Madison County General
Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, April
19 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro.
Ted Duffy and Bro. James Humphreys officiating. Interment
followed in the Union Academy Cemetery with full military
honors.
Mr. Pruett was born July 14, 1931 in Trezevant to the late
Ronald I. And Callie (Pratt) Pruett. He was a member of
the Baptist Church, a retired Master Sergeant in the
United States Air Force, worked for Wal-Mart for sixteen
years and was last working part-time for Huntingdon Star
Ford. One daughter, Lesleigh Pruett and one brother,
Maurice Pruett also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Launa "Lee" Pruett; one
daughter, Rose Edwards of Knoxville; two stepdaughters,
Sonya Ozment of McKenzie and Staci Gallimore of Camden;
one son, Mark Pruett of Cocoa, Florida; one stepson, Randy
Ruddell of Newbern; two sisters, Patsy McDaniel of
Huntingdon and Jeanne Sutter of Horn Lake, Mississippi;
three brothers, James Pruett, Howard "Punk" Pruett, and
Joe Pruett, all of Huntingdon; two grandchildren, ten
step-grandchildren and eight nieces and five nephews.
Honorary pallbearers who served were Allen Williams, Lynn
Breeden, Tim Kelly, Bryan Cook, Keith Trevathan, Chris
Trevathan, Bro. George Hill, Bro. Jim Reynolds, Tom
Roberts, Dwight Williams, Phillip Welch, Mike McDade,
Jamie White, Joe DePriest, and Jerry Smith.
Mildred L. Lewis
MCKENZIE: Mildred L. Lewis, 77, died Sunday morning,
April 21 at Oak Manor Health Care Center. Funeral services
were conducted on Monday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Henry
Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Merwin and Bro. Jerry Drye
officiating. Burial followed in Henry Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Aldridge, Elvis Wallace, Johnny
Barger, Billy Dean Kelly, Billy McCain, Michael Vermillion
and honorary pallbearer was Lloyd Ray Lewis.
Mrs. Lewis, the daughter of the late Clyde Jarrett and
Kate Kelley Jarrett was born November 19, 1924 in
Huntingdon. He was a retired school bus driver for the
Henry County school system, a member of Henry Baptist
Church and an Eastern Star. A son, Mike Lewis and a
brother, Roy Gene Jarrett, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Mitchell Lewis of
Henry; two sons, Danny Lewis of St. Louis, Missouri and
Lloyd Lewis of Henry; one sister, Elizabeth Thomsen of
McLemoresville; seven grandchildren, Misty Vermillion,
Miranda Lewis, Mary Beth Lewis, Sarah Lewis, Lloyd Ray
Lewis, Daniel Jarrett Lewis, and Timothy Russell Lewis;
two great-grandchildren, Macy Vermillion and Mattie Grace
Vermillion.
Margie Ann Akin
MILAN: Graveside services for Margie Ann Akin, 51,
were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 22 at Pleasant Hill
Cemetery. Bodkin Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
Mrs. Akin, a homemaker, died Thursday, April 18 at her
home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in
McKenzie.
Survivors include a son, Dana Akin of McKenzie; four
sisters, Mary Sue Cantrell and Linda Moore, both of Dyer,
Betty Pillow of Trenton and Martha Mayo of Atwood; five
brothers, Johnny Gray of Las Vegas, Nevada, W. C. Gray of
Humboldt, Jimmy Gray of Atwood, Jerry Gray of Bradford and
Sonny Gray of Henderson and three grandchildren.
Dr. Kenneth Doyle Miller, Sr.
HUNTINGDON: Dr. Kenneth Doyle Miller, Sr., 81, died
Tuesday, April 16 at his home. Funeral services were
conducted on Friday, April 19 in the Dilday Funeral Home
Chapel with Dr. William Bailey officiating. Interment
followed at Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Dr. Miller was born April 3, 1921 in Illinois to the late
George and Velma Lingle Miller. He was an optometrist and
a member of the First United Methodist Church. His wife,
Frances Miller, who died August 24, 1993 and a brother,
Robert Miller, preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Kenneth D. Miller, Jr., of
New Orleans, Louisiana and William Miller of McKenzie;
seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Myra Joyce Holladay Hogue
JACKSON: Mrs. Myra Joyce Holladay Hogue, 57, died
Friday, April 19 at her home. Funeral services were
conducted on Sunday, April 21 in the Dilday Funeral Home
Chapel with Brother Denny Abernathy and Brother Lois
Fuller officiating. Interment followed in Hampton
Cemetery.
Mrs. Hogue was born April 24, 1944 in Carroll County to
the late James Howard "Buck and Annie Mildred Chandler
Holladay. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Hogue; two daughters,
Robin Hayes and Teresa Stephens, both of Huntingdon; two
sons, Russ Epperson of Atlanta, Georgia and James Neil
Hogue of Jackson; four sisters, Jeanie Pritchard, Betty
Umstead, Ardie Kelley and Mary Jo Lowe, all of Huntingdon
and four grandchildren.
Richard Andrew Dickerson
BRUCETON: Mr. Richard Andrew Dickerson, 76, died
Friday, April 19 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in
Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Monday,
April 22 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother
Roger Ellis officiating. Interment followed in McAuley
Cemetery.
Mr. Dickerson was born February 28, 1926 in Carroll County
to the late Hobart and Hettie Miller Dickerson. He was a
furniture store owner. His wife, Virginia Wood Dickerson,
preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Anita Hixon of Bruceton and
two grandchildren.
Mary Sue Todd
WESTPORT: Ms. Mary Sue Todd, 81, died Sunday, April 21
at the Methodist Hospital in Lexington. Funeral services
were conducted on Tuesday, April 23 at New Hope Missionary
Baptist Church with Elder Rufus Chandler officiating.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Ms. Todd was born September 10, 1920 in Carroll County to
the late Grover C. and Mary Pearl Lyons Gooch. She was an
employee of Pin Oak Lodge and a member of New Hope
Missionary Baptist Church. Her husband, Charles E. Todd,
who died March 15, 1997; one sister, Lottie Todd; and
three brothers, Mack Gooch, Leonard Gooch and Leon Gooch,
preceded her in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Sally Hatch of
Collierville, Glenda Tucker of Yuma and Charlotte Shands
of Westport; one sister, Rubye Hester of Yuma and five
grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Hattie Terry
NASHVILLE: Ms. Hattie Terry, 65, died Sunday, April 14
at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Graveside
funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, April 16, at
Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Ms. Terry was born June 19, 1936 in Williamson County to
the late Prentice and Estelle Gealsey. She was a
homemaker. Her husband, Carl Terry; a daughter, Jennie
Huffman and a sister, Claudia Byrd, preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Georgia Staten of
Nashville, six grandchildren and one step-grandchild.
