Jake Webster Harber
JACKSON: Funeral services for Jake Webster Harber, 74,
were at 1 p.m. Monday, December 24, at Highland Memorial
Gardens Mausoleum in Jackson with Ed Ballard officiating.
Entombment was in Highland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Mr. Harber died Saturday, December 22, at West Tennessee
Skilled Care.
He was born on January 14, 1927 in Carroll County, the son
of the late Walter and Marie Cooper Harber. He was a
member of Bemis Church of Christ. He was retired from the
Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Survivors are his wife, Jean Kee Harber of Jackson; one
daughter, Karen Chance of Jackson; one son, Walter Harber
of Cordova; two sisters, Nelle Bruff of Trezevant and
Marguerite Crawford of La Mesa, CA; one brother, Walter
Harber of Memphis; and three grandchildren.
Memorial may be directed to St. Jude Leukemia Research.
William Doris Jones
GLEASON: Services for William Doris Jones, 75, were at
1 p.m. Sunday, December 23, at Gallimore Funeral Home with
burial in Elm Grove Cemetery. Mr. Jones, trucking company
owner, died Friday, December 21, at Martin Health Care of
heart failure.
He is survived by a daughter, Debbie Robbins of Gleason.
Thomas Moore
HUNTINGDON: Funeral services for Thomas Moore, 66,
were Friday, December 28, at Smyrna Missionary Baptist
Church with burial in Humble Cemetery. Mr. Moore died
Sunday, December 23, at Baptist Hospital in Huntingdon.
He is survived by his wife, Fannie P. Moore; three
daughters, Rose Montgomery, Nancy Moore and Shirley
Cunningham; three sons, Mark Moore, James Moore and Tyler
Moore.
Kathryn M. Coburn
TIGRETT: Services for Kathryn M. Coburn, 75, were
Monday, December 24, at Friendship Funeral Home with
burial at Friendship Cemetery.
She is survived by three daughters, Connie Fisher of
Huntingdon, Donna Perry of Miston, and Vickie Echols of
Friendship; two sons, Bobby Coburn of Tigrett, Randy G.
Coburn of Roellen; and one brother, Ivy Brasfield of
Friendship.
Elsie Hale Hardy
CEDAR GROVE: Services for Elsie H. Hardy, 82, were
Monday, December 24, at 1 p.m. at Pafford Funeral Home
Chapel with burial at Hickory Flat Cemetery in Cedar
Grove.
She is survived by her husband, Ercel Hardy of Cedar
Grove; one daughter, Linda Grant of Yuma; one sister,
Elzie Stanford of Huntingdon; one brother, Charles
Woodard, Jr.; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren,
and one great-great-grandchild.
Bradley Nathan Barnett
CEDAR GROVE: Services were held at 3 p.m. Monday,
December 24, at Hunt Funeral Home with burial in Walnut
Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include his mother, Patsy Barnett of Medina;
father, Steve Barnett of Cedar Grove; one son, Daniel
Barnett of Cedar Grove; and one sister, April Barnett of
Milan.
Blondell Sellers Horn
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Blondell Sellers Horn, 69, died
Saturday, December 22, at her home. Funeral services were
conducted on Monday, December 24, in the Chapel of Dilday
Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Goodpasture officiating.
Interment followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near
Cedar Grove.
Mrs. Horn was born February 22, 1932, in Carroll County.
She was a retired employee of the Publix Shirt Company, a
member of the Huntingdon Church of Christ and a member of
the Silver Star. She also worked as a volunteer at
Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Her father,
James C. Clark, preceded her in death. On June 12, 1948
she married James A. "Jim" Sellers who died July 15, 1996.
Later, she married Mr. Tom Horn on October 21, 1999.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Horn; one son, Mike
Sellers of Atwood; one daughter, Dianna Parker of
Collierville; her mother, Jamie Clark of Cedar Grove;
three step-sons, Dennis Horn and Thomas Horn, both of
Huntingdon, and Kenny Horn of Chicago; two brothers, Jerry
Clark of Cedar Grove and Pete Clark of Bruceton; one
sister, Wanda Ward of Memphis; two grandchildren and one
great-granddaughter.
Myrtle Byars White
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Myrtle Byars White, 79, passed away
Tuesday, December 25, at Murray Calloway County Long Term
Care in Murray, Kentucky.
Mrs. White was born in Carroll County March 22, 1922. Her
parents were the late John Edwards Byars and Kate
VanCleave Byars. Preceding her in death were five brothers
and one sister.
She was a member of Long Rock Methodist Church and was
married to the late Benjamin T. (Tom) White, who passed
away August 18, 1998.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, December 28, in
the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home with burial at Long Rock
Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Thomas of Murray;
three sons, Gene White of Hebron, Indiana, John White of
Clarksburg, and Keith White of Huntingdon; one sister,
Frances Pigue of Joelton; one brother, W.D. Byars of
Huntingdon; and six grandchildren.
Willie Mai Waters
HOLLOW ROCK: Services for Willie Mai Waters were held
Saturday, December 22, 12 noon, at Hollow Rock Church of
Christ with Bro. William Hensley officiating. Burial
followed at Nebo Pisgah Cemetery in Hollow Rock.
She died Thursday, December 20, at Life Care Center. She
was a member of Hollow Rock Church of Christ and was
preceded in death by one daughter, Marion Tharpe; one son,
Melvin Waters, one sister, Sarah Sturdivant, and two
brothers, Garvin E. Hicks and Guzzie Hicks.
Survivors include one son, Ray Waters of Hollow Rock; one
sister, Effie Johnson of Hollow Rock; one brother, James
C. Hicks of Madison; 11 grandchildren and several
great-grandchildren.
Trinity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Teresa Kay Ellis
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Teresa Kay Allen Ellis, 45, died
Thursday, December 20, at the Life Care Center in
Bruceton.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, December 22,
in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home with Bro. Lynn
Stapleton and Bro. Johnny Boyd officiating. Burial
followed at Jones Cemetery.
Mrs. Ellis was born September 10, 1956 in Henderson
County. She was employed at Del-Met Profile in McKenzie.
She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Charles
Hindman; a son, Brian Azbill; and two brothers, Tony Ray
Hindman and Terry Lynn Hindman.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Randall Ellis; her
mother, Martha Jo Hindman of Bruceton; a daughter, Brandy
Nicole Allen French of Bruceton; two sons, Jeremy Charles
Allen and Larry Christopher Azbill, both of McKenzie; a
step-daughter, Misty Coleman of Bruceton; a step-son,
Shannon Ellis of Bruceton; two sisters, Virginia Lee
Toombs of Bruceton and Debbie Peterson of Wildersville;
one brother, Billy Joe Hindman of Huntingdon; and six
grandchildren.
Julia Dunlap Cowan
PARIS: Services for Julia Dunlap Cowan, 74, were
Saturday, December 29, 1 p.m. at Progressive Baptist
Church in Paris with George R. Williams, Sr. officiating.
Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
She died Wednesday, December 29, at Henry County Medical
Center. She was a charter member of Progressive Baptist
Church where she was head of the kitchen committee and a
member of Eastern Star Sheba Chapter 109.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Cowan; two
daughters, Winifred Cynthia Bobo and Margie Arnetta Nolan,
both of Paris; one sister, Dorothy Williams of Paris; and
8 grandchildren.
Trinity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mary Sylvanie Smith
DRESDEN: Services for Mary Sylvanie Smith, 92, were
Thursday, December 27, 2 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home
Chapel with burial in Jolley Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith, a homemaker, died Sunday, December 23, at
Hillview Living Center in Dresden. She was born in Carroll
County to the late Sam and Lula Ervin Barnes. She was a
member of Jolly Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Lester D. Smith.
Survivors include one daughter, Geneva Wright of Dresden;
one son, Roeby Smith of Dresden; one step-son, John Robert
Smith of McKenzie; two sisters, Mae Thomas of Deacrt Hot
Springs, CA and Novella Fries of Oceanside, CA; two
brothers, Wade Barnes of McKenzie and Oscar Barnes of
Trezevant; 8 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
