Vivian Marguarte Currin Esch
1918-2002
MCKENZIE: Services for Vivian Marguarte Currin Esch,
83, will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 24 at First
Baptist Church with Bro. Dennis Trull and Bro. Wesley
Pitts officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet
Cemetery.
Mrs. Esch, a retired teacher and librarian, died Monday,
July 22 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born December 20, 1918 in McKenzie to the late
Cecilla Story Currin and Leon Currin. She was a member
of the First Baptist Church in McKenzie, Delta Kappa
Gamma, Eastern Star, Garden Club and Soroptomist Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Esch of
McKenzie and Sylvia Philbeck of Cincinnati, Ohio; a son,
Kenneth Esch of Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother, Harmon
Currin of Daytona Beach, Florida; four grandchildren and
nine great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Lois Esch, a sister, Sibyl Carter, a
brother Everett Currin and a grandson, Michael Esch
preceded her in death.
Brummitt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Florence Kizer Anderson
1910-2002
MCKENZIE: Services for Florence Kizer Anderson, 92,
were at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 23 at Brummitt Funeral
Home with Bro. Rex Buford and Bro. Bud Merwin
officiating. Burial was in Jones Cemetery in
Wildersville.
Mrs. Anderson, a homemaker, died Monday, July 22 at her
home.
She was born March 4, 1910 in Wildersville to the late
Melissa Davis Kizer and Estee Kizer. She was a member of
the Henry Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Earl and Delores Anderson of
Paris and Fred and Ruth Anderson of McKenzie; a
daughter-in-law Willie Mae Anderson of McKenzie; seven
grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren.
A son, Gene Anderson; a sister, Bertha Lawson; two
brothers, Joe Kizer and Jake Kizer and a grandson,
Steven Anderson preceded her in death.
Mary Wilma Hopper Lowery
1931-2002
HOLLOW ROCK: Mrs. Mary Wilma Hopper Lowery, 70, died
Friday, July 19 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton.
Graveside funeral services were conducted on Sunday,
July 21 at 3:00 p.m. in the Oak Grove Cemetery with Bro.
James S. Stewart officiating.
Mrs. Lowery was born September 7, 1931 in Carroll County
to the late Roy and Ruth Tubbs Hopper. She was a
homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church in Parsons.
Two brothers, Leslie Roy Hopper and Murphy Gene Hopper,
also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Roberts of Hollow Rock,
and Dwaine Edwards of Buena Vista; one sister, Vernie
Mae Jackson of Hollow Rock; four brothers, Jack Hopper
of Bruceton and Wes Hopper, Robert Hopper and Norman
Hopper, all of Hollow Rock; two half-brothers, R.G.
Hopper of Camden and Vernon Hopper of Parsons; three
grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Chase Funeral Home in Huntingdon was in charge of the
arrangements.
Gerald Wayne Arnold
1934-2002
BRUCETON: Services for Mr. Gerald Wayne Arnold, 68,
were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 22 at Bruceton First
Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Bradshaw officiating.
Burial was in Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock.
Mr. Arnold, owner/manager of Gerald's Big Star, Twin
City Laundry-O-Mat and Blue Dip died Saturday, July 20
at Milan Hospital from injuries sustained in a traffic
accident in Milan.
He was born April 13, 1934 in Crockett County to the
late T.D. and Mattie Irene Byrd Arnold. He was a member
and deacon of Bruceton First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Barnes Arnold, two
daughters, Regine Luther of Buena Vista and Amanda
McMackin of Bruceton; a son, Clay Arnold of Bruceton;
two sisters, Opal Gregory Rushing of Humboldt and Mary
Goodrich of Gibson; and seven grandchildren.

Thomas Little Harder
1929-2002
TREZEVANT: Services for Thomas Little Harder, 72,
were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 23 at Brummitt Funeral
Home with Bro. Malcolm Norton officiating. Burial was in
Trezevant Cemetery.
Mr. Harder died Saturday at Life Care Center in
Bruceton.
He was born September 15, 1929 in North Little Rock,
Arkansas to the late Elsie Pauline Argo and Thomas
Bailey Argo. He was a member of First Baptist Church in
Trezevant, an air force veteran and worked for the U.S.
Postal service for 17 years.
Survivors include his wife, Caroline Harder; two
daughters, Robin C. Davis and Kathie Wofford, both of
Madera, California; three sons, Thomas T. Harder of
Fresno, California, Jerry A. Davis of Selma, California
and Chris A. Davis of Bandera, Texas; nine grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.
Frances Marie Pruitt
1927-2002
MCKENZIE: Mrs. Frances Marie Pruitt, 75, died
Tuesday, July 16 at her home. Funeral services were
conducted on Saturday, July 20 at 1:00 p.m. in the
Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Wayne Holmes
officiating. Interment followed at Bethlehem Cemetery.
Mrs. Pruitt was born January 23, 1927 in Carroll County
to the late Lemuel Clyde and Fannie Pauline Johnson
Jordan. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Thomas Pruitt,
who passed away in 1973; two sisters, Casey Chandler and
Helen York and one brother, Buddy Jordan, preceded her
in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Gentry of
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Ilah Perry of McKenzie; one
son, William C. Pruitt of Griffin, Indiana; one sister,
Pauline Huckabee of Imperial, Missouri; nine
grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Horace Dudley Roark
1911-2002
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Horace Dudley Roark, 90, died
Monday, July 15 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, July 18 at
11:00 a.m. at the Clarksburg Church of Christ with
Brother Bill Crossno officiating. Interment followed at
Hampton Cemetery.
Mr. Roark was born October 4, 1911 in Carroll County to
the late Thomas Dudley and Florence Anderson Roark. He
was a retired farmer, a member of the Clarksburg Church
of Christ and a charter member of the Clarksburg Ruritan.
Two brothers, Homer Roark and Raymond Roark and three
sisters, Roberta Bates, Jewell Adcox and Eunice Roark
preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Eudine Stokes
Roark; two sons, Randall Roark of Huntingdon and Tom
Roark of Chattanooga; two daughters, Nancy Rush and Ruth
Ann Rhodes; one brother, Eulas Roark and one sister,
Polly Hall, all of Huntingdon; ten grandchildren and one
great-granddaughter.

James Milton Compton
1915-2002
HUNTINGDON: Mr. James Milburn Compton, 87, died
Monday, July 15, at the Huntingdon Residential Care
Center. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, July
19 at 3:30 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with
Bro. Fred Ward officiating. Interment followed at Chapel
Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Compton was born April 21, 1915 in Carroll County to
the late Curtis Lee and Mamie Smith Compton. He was a
retired body mechanic for Shilling Motors, a navy World
War II veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church.
His wife, Frances Swearinger Compton, who passed away in
1983 and a sister, Thelma Brown, preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Kristie French of
Huntingdon and Susan Crawford of New Castle,
Pennsylvania; one son, Johnny Compton of Memphis; five
grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson.
Kenneth Ray Barker
1955-2002
DRESDEN: Kenneth Ray Barker, 47, died Tuesday, July
16 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. Funeral services
were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 19 at Brummitt Funeral
Home in McKenzie with Bro. Doug Morris officiating.
Mr. Barker, the son of Lawrence Ray Barker of McKenzie
and the late Betty Pryor Barker, was born April 19, 1955
in Trezevant. He was a painter and a musician.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Arnold Barker; two
daughters, Brandy Nichole Hopper of Dresden and Amanda
Michelle Pounds of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; one son,
Matthew Ryan Barker of Dresden; a brother, Kim Barker of
McLemoresville; five grandchildren, Desirae Dawn Pounds,
Cheyenne Nichole Hopper, Dathan Dakota Pounds, Cody
Anthony Hopper and Charity Alise Hopper.

Sibyl Rutledge
1919-2002
Services for Sibyl Rutledge, 83, were at 10:00 a.m.,
Friday, July 19 at Dyer Cumberland Persbyterian Church
with Bro. James Westbrook and Bro. Keith Harwell
officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Rutledge died Tuesday, July 16 at Methodist Hospital
in McKenzie. He was a member of Dyer Cumberland
Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Willard Rutledge of Mobile,
Alabama and Bob Rutledge of McKenzie; three
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A brother,
Raymond Rutledge preceded him in death.

Wayne Arthur "Tubby" Lowe
1939-2002
ATWOOD: Wayne Arthur "Tubby" Lowe, 63, died Sunday
afternoon, July 21, at Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare in
Jackson. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday,
July 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home in
Trezevant with Bro. Vance Rushing officiating. Burial
will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery in Atwood. Visitation
will be on Tuesday from 5:00-9:00 p.m. in the funeral
home in Trezevant.
Mr. Lowe was born January 5, 1939 in Trezevant to the
late Arthur Lee and Ruby Rowe Lowe. Survivors include
two daughters, Stephanie Lowe of Atwood and Vickie Lowe
Arnold of Cedar Grove; two sisters, Dorothy Lowe of
Trezevant and Ida Mae Ingram of Franklin; two brothers,
Bobby Lowe of Trezevant and Joseph Ray Lowe of Paris. He
was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Edward Lowe.
Mr. Lowe is survived by three grandchildren, Ashley
Sanders, C.J. Arnold and Jayme Arnold, Brenda Lowe to
whom he was married for 20 years and a close personal
friend, George Cook of Trezevant.
Mr. Lowe was a member of Poplar Grove Missionary Baptist
Church.
Charlotte Ann Edwards
1947-2002
PARIS: Services fro Charlotte Ann Edwards, 54, will
be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 24 at McEvoy Funeral
Home Chapel in Paris with the Rev. Otis Hinton
officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in
McKenzie.
Mrs. Edwards died Monday morning, July 22 at her home
after a lengthy illness.
She was born September 2, 1947 in Missouri. She was a
former CNA with Henry County Home Health Center.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Edwards, her
mother, Janice Carlton Champion of White House, two
daughters, Wendy Crouch and Gina Smith, both of Paris;
two sons, Cory Doyle and Duane Smith, both of McKenzie;
three sisters, Connie Evans of White House, Linda Miller
of Benton Harbor, Michigan and Brenda Simpson of
Frederick, Maryland; and five grandchildren.
Her father, Pitts Woodrow Champion, preceded her in
death.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after
10:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Silas Otto Renfroe
1918-2002
MCKENZIE: Services for Silas Otto Renfroe, 83, will
be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 25 at Brummitt Funeral
Home with Bro. Dennis Beal officiating. Burial will be
in Union Academy Cemetery.
Mr. Renfroe, a farmer, died Tuesday morning, July 23, at
Oak Manor Healthcare Center in McKenzie.
He was born March 21, 1918 in Holladay to the late W.L.
Renfroe and Audie Howell Renfroe. He was a member of the
VFW and Union Academy Church.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Renfroe of McKenzie;
a daughter, Tammy Rudolph of Franklin; a son, Daniel
Price Renfroe of Nashville and two grandchildren.
