Joseph Eugene "Rusty" Lifsey
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Joseph Eugene "Rusty" Lifsey, 54, died
Monday, June 3, at the Baptist Hospital in Huntingdon.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, June 5 at
11:00 a.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro.
Scott Carter and Bro. Fred Ward officiating. Interment
followed in the Obion Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Lifsey was born September 4, 1947 in Gibson County. He
was a member of the Obion Chapel Church of Christ, a
supervisor for Henry I. Siegel Company of Thirty-four
years, and was an avid golfer. A nephew, Kevin Rogers,
preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, whom he married May 14, 1966,
Karen Hampton Lifsey; two sons, Mike (Amanda) Lifsey of
McKenzie, and John Lifsey of Martin; eight sisters, Patsy
Frazee of Conyers, Georgia, Sue Butler of Huntingdon,
Diane Rogers of Cedar Grove, Vicky Vaden of Bells, June
Gray of Trezevant, Lisa Jones of Cedar Grove, Kim Simpson
of Bradford, Betty Lou Cooper of Trezevant; two brothers,
Jim Lifsey of Clarksville and Steve Lifsey of Cedar Grove;
two grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers who served were H.B. Adkinson, Lyndle Barker,
Jamie Barker, Lyndel Smothers, Bobby Jack Cantrell, and
Larry Tippitt. Honorary pallbearers were Jonathan Hampton
and Tracy Webb.
Janice N. Wright
NASHVILLE: Mrs. Janice Nell Wright passed away at her
home on Tuesday, June 4. She was a member of the First
Baptist Church and is at rest with her Lord and Savior.
She was born September 3, 1948 in McKenzie and was a
graduate of McKenzie schools.
Surviving are her husband, James R. Wright; her parents,
Warren and Brooxie Barksdale; a brother, Kenneth
Barksdale; two sisters, Shirley (Ed) Crustchfield and
Alice (Frank) Barrett; aunts and uncles; two nieces and
one nephew and two great-nieces.
Services were conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 7 at
Woodlawn Chapel of Roses. Interment followed at Woodlawn
Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Foundation, American Kidney Foundation or the Humane
Association.
Charles Meals
LEXINGTON: Funeral services for Charles Meals, 56,
were held Saturday, June 8 at 3:30 p.m. at Reed's Chapel
in Lexington with Phil Mitchell, Wayne Rowan and Dan
Cooper officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill
Cemetery. Mr. Meals died Thursday, June 6 at
Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was a former teacher and principal in the Henderson
County school system at Bargerton School, former
Superintendent at the Clarksburg Special School District
and was presently serving as the Superintendent of the
Caywood School in Lexington. He was a member of Mt. Gilead
Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, a member of
Gideon's International and a member of the Lexington
Rotary Club.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Meals of Cedar Grove; one
son, Nick Meals of Cedar Grove, and his mother, Hazel
Meals of Lexington.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Gideon's
International Society.
Mildred Louise Fowler
MCKENZIE: Services for Mrs. Mildred Louise Fowler, 67
were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 11 at Blooming Grove
Methodist Church in McKenzie with Rev. Bruce Crane and
Brother Keith Pence officiating . Burial was in Blooming
Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Fowler, a homemaker and factory worker, died
Saturday, June 8 at Methodist Hospital in McKenzie.
She was born May 16, 1935 in Atwood to the late Zoalo
Bates Morris and L.A. Morris. She was a member of the
Blooming Grove Methodist Church.
Her husband, Leon Fowler, preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Fowler of McKenzie,
David Fowler of Durham, North Carolina, and Ricky Fowler
of McKenzie; and eight grandchildren, Eric Fowler, Krystal
Fowler, Kelly Fowler, Laura Fowler, Taylor Fowler,
Courtney Fowler, Nathan Fowler, all of McKenzie and Bradly
Fowler of Huntingdon.

Carolyn Louise Wynns Kemp
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Carolyn Louise Wynns Kemp, 88, died
Monday, June 3 at the Methodist Hospital North in Memphis.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, June 6 at
10:00 a.m. at the Huntingdon First Methodist Church with
Dr. Dossie Wheatley, Dr. William Bailey, Dr. Mickey
Carpenter and the Rev. Steve Atkins officiating. Interment
followed in the Memorial Cemetery in Paris.
Mrs. Kemp was born August 2, 1913 in Henry County to the
late Charles Samuel and May Salmon Wynns. She was a member
of the Huntingdon First United Methodist Church,
Huntingdon Woman's Club and the Rural Letter Carriers
Association. She married on June 23, 1937 to Clovis Howard
Kemp, who preceded her in death on November 28, 1973. A
sister, Mrs. Wilmoth Giddens also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Jane Kemp McCoy of
Huntingdon and one son, Howard Wynns Kemp of McCall,
Idaho; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers who served were Brian French, Jason Martin,
Richard Gooch, Randy Moffit, Roy Tarwater and Larry Wade.
Chase Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Lora Ada Ringold
CLARKSBURG: Mrs. Lora Ada Ringold, 97, died Saturday,
June 8 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral
services were conducted on Tuesday, June 11 at the
Clarksburg Church of Christ with Brother Bill Crossno and
Brother Martin Klamm officiating. Interment followed in
the Blair Cemetery.
Mrs. Ringold was born February 20, 1905 in Carroll County
to the late L.A. and Rosie Johnson Wilson. She was a
retired employee of Publix Shirt Corp. and a member of the
Clarksburg Church of Christ. Her husband, Vester W.
Ringold, who passed away in 1982; a brother, Carlin Wilson
and a sister, Jessie Flake, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Billy Ringold of Clarksburg;
three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Thomas Meade Harwell, Jr.
DALLAS, TEXAS: Mr. Thomas Meade Harwell, Jr., 88, died
Tuesday, May 28. Memorial services were held Wednesday,
June 5 at Dilday Funeral Home.
Mr. Harwell was born September 21, 1913 in Scottsdale,
Kentucky to the late Thomas M. Harwell, Sr. and Burton
Eubanks Downing.
Survivors include a daughter, Anne Toal and a brother,
Bill Harwell.
Alta Ruth Howard
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Alta Ruth Howard, 93, died Thursday,
June 6 at her home. Funeral services were conducted on
Saturday, June 8 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with
Brother Jim Holt and Brother Loyd Rich officiating.
Interment followed in Sellers Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Howard was born July 20, 1908 in Decatur County to
the late William and Ramey Evans Hill. She was a homemaker
and a member of the Bible Hill Baptist Church. A son,
O'Neal Quinn; a brother, Clayborne Hill and three sisters,
Lena Hays, Laura Hays and Birtie Hampton preceded her in
death.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Harold Howard;
one son, Gordon Quinn of Westport; five daughters, Earlene
Sibley of Bells, Lounell Laudermilk and Bonnie Bucy of
Atwood, Jane Gurley of Beech Bluff and Lola Webb of
Camden; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and four
great-great-grandchildren.
Mary Kate Crews
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Mary Kate Crews, 80, died Saturday,
June 8 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral
services were conducted on Monday, June 10 in the Dilday
Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Phillip Halter and
Brother Jimmy Stewart officiating. Interment followed in
Liberty All Cemetery.
Mrs. Crews was born January 3, 1922 to the late John and
Maggie Vinson Fuller in Carroll County. She was a member
of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and owner of Coffee
Cup Restaurant. Her husband, Arthur Lee Crews, who passed
away in 1996, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann Rich and Sue Ross,
both of Huntingdon; one brother, J.C. Fuller of
Huntingdon; eight grandchildren; fifteen
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Dorsie J. Dunn
CEDAR GROVE: Mr. Dorsie J. Dunn, 86, died Tuesday,
June 4 at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, June 6 in the
Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Rick Crossno
officiating. Interment followed at the Leach Seventh Day
Adventist Cemetery.
Dr. Dunn was born December 19, 1915 to the late Will and
Cora Black Dunn in Carroll County. He was a retired
supervisor for the Carroll County Highway Department and a
member of the Leach Seventh Day Adventist Church. His
wife, Mildred Irene Dunn, preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son, Randall Dunn of Huntingdon; two
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
James Etheridge Ross
CLARKSBURG: Mr. James Eldridge Ross, 75, died Tuesday,
June 4 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, June 7 at the
Clarksburg Church of Christ with Brother Bill Crossno
officiating. Interment followed in the Sellers Hill
Cemetery.
Mr. Ross was born May 19, 1927 in Carroll County to the
late Horace and Vernie Kelly Ross. He served in the U.S.
Army Air Force, was a retired employee of West Tennessee
Public Utility District and was a member of the Clarksburg
Church of Christ. A brother, Kelly Ross, preceded him in
death.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Adell Scott Ross;
one daughter, Gena Pancake of Germany; one son, Gary Ross
of Eads; one brother, Bobby Ross of Jackson; and two
grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Paul William Krueger
DRESDEN: Services for Paul William Krueger, 90, were
at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1 at Gallimore Funeral Home
Chapel in Gleason with the Rev. Bob Copeland officiating.
Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery.
Mr. Kreuger, a retired electrical engineer, died Thursday,
May 30 at Martin Health Care.
He was born January 31, 1912 in Chicago, Illinois to the
late Paul and Freda Kropp Krueger.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Babb Krueger; two
sons, Paul Krueger of Columbus, Georgia and Larry Bell of
Gleason; three daughter, Linda Lambert of Henry, Doris
Coleman of McKenzie and Janet Dena of Chicago, Illinois;
two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Hershel Carl "Skeeter" Winberry
CEDAR GROVE: Mr. Hershel Carl "Skeeter" Winberry, 55,
died Sunday, June 9 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, June 11 in the
Dilday Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Hickory
Flat Cemetery.
Mr. Winberry was born December 8, 1946 in Carroll County
to the late Gilbert Carl and Cora Gertrude Simmons
Winberry. He was a member of Local 614 as a pipefitter and
was a Vietnam veteran. A sister, Velma Winberry, preceded
him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Winberry; one
daughter, Karen Winberry; two sons, Chris Winberry and
Jeremy Winberry.
