Zona Mayo Snyder
MCKENZIE: Services for Zona Mayo Snyder, 80, were at
2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 7 at Brummitt Funeral Home. Burial
was in Concord Cemetery.
Mrs. Snyder, a retired factory worker and homemaker, died
Wednesday night, May 1 at Life Care Center in Bruceton.
She was born August 18, 1921 in Camden to the late Mary
Elizabeth Coleman and James Anderson Coleman.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Jane Nelson of Fair
Oak, California; a son, James Melton Mayo of Westport,
Washington; two sisters, Lorene Whitmore of Bruceton and
Francis Umstead of McKenzie; a brother, James Coleman of
Chicago, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Her husband, Elvie Thomas Mayo; a daughter, Mary Ann
Smith; two sons, Melvin Thomas Mayo and David Wayne Mayo;
three sisters, Lexie Hale, Estel Wallace and Ester Hill
and a brother, John Coleman all preceded her in death.
Jimmie Davis Hensley
GLEASON: Funeral services for Jimmie Davis Hensley,
59, were held on Tuesday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Oakdale
Chapel in Camden with Mickey Beam and Ed Ballard
officiating. Burial was in Dry Branch Cemetery.
Mr. Hensley passed away on May 5 at Jackson-Madison County
General following a long illness.
He was born August 10, 1942 in Camden to Naomi Hensley and
the late Jimmie Ervin Hensley of Camden. He was a owner of
Golden Eagle Transportation and a member of Hustburg
Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Hensley; a step-son,
Jere Cooper of Gleason; four step-grandchildren and two
step-great-grandchildren.
Mary C. Wall
CLARKSBURG: Mrs. Mary C. Wall, 87, died Monday, April
29 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services
were conducted on Wednesday, May 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the
Clarksburg Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Phillip
Halters and Bro. Andrew Stokes officiating. Interment
followed in the Clarksburg Cemetery.
Mrs. Wall was born January 9, 1915 in Clarksburg to the
late Hugh and Lillie Whitehorn Crider. She was a member of
the Clarksburg Missionary Baptist Church and was married
to Mr. Virgil Wall on June 3, 1933. One son, Bobby Wall
and one brother, Buck Crider, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, one daughter,
Betty Wall Swearingen of Hollow Rock; five grandchildren
and ten great-grandchildren.
Chase Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
John Samuel Baker, Sr.
PARIS: Mr. John Samuel Baker, Sr., 74, died Thursday,
May 2 at the Henry County Medical Center in Paris. Funeral
services were conducted on Saturday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m.
in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Vance Rushing
officiating. Interment followed in the Palmer Shelter
Cemetery.
Mr. Baker was born on February 8, 1928 in Humphreys County
to the late Donnie Albert and Carrie Roberts Baker. She
was a retired truck driver for Star Trucking Company, an
Air Force veteran and a member of the Bethel Missionary
Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, John Baker, Jr. of Huntingdon
and John Stewart Baker of Paris; two sisters, London
Bedwell of Huntingdon, Ree Bedwell of Grand Prairie,
Texas; one brother, Ray Baker of Frankfort, Kentucky and
two grandchildren.
Ruby Lee Stanford
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Ruby Lee Stanford, 83, died Monday,
April 29 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton. Graveside
funeral services were conducted on Thursday, May 2 at
Liberty All Cemetery with Brother Benny Keymon
officiating.
Mrs. Stanford was born August 30, 1918 in Carroll County
to the late Wesley and Hattie Morris Campbell. She was a
homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband,
Charlie W. Stanford and a sister, Jeanette Simpson.
Survivors include one daughter, Lynn Lewis of Jackson;
three sons, Travis Stanford of Huntingdon, Larry Stanford
of Greenfield and Barton Stanford of Jackson; one sister,
Beatrice Manning of Milan; one brother, Thomas Campbell of
Jackson; eleven grandchildren and fifteen
great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
William Earl "Heavy" Pruett
HOLLOW ROCK: Mr. William Earl "Heavy" Pruett, 50, died
Friday, May 3 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville. Graveside
services were conducted on Sunday, May 5 at Hebron
Cemetery with Brother Robert White officiating.
Mr. Pruett was born May 26, 1951 to the late Buford and
Opal Bell Pruett in Carroll County. One son, Michael Ray
Pruett, preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Baker of Hollow
Rock; one son, Billy Pruett of Cedar Grove; one sister,
Della Kay Mitchell of McEwen; one brother, James Pruett of
Cedar Grove and one grandson.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Dorothy Jean Whitt
ATWOOD: Services for Mrs. Dorothy Jean Whitt, 80, were
at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 4, at Bodkin Funeral Home in
Milan. Interment followed in Keaton Cemetery in Atwood.
Mrs. Whitt, a homemaker, died Friday, May 3 at the
Humboldt Nursing Home in Humboldt.
A daughter, Brenda Crocker; two brothers, Gaylon Stewart
and Charlie Stewart and a sister, Thelma Pearmon, preceded
her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Horn of Arlington
and Debbie Keymon of Atwood; three sons, Dene White, Gene
Whitt and Ronnie Whitt, all of Atwood; two sisters, Doris
DePriest of Trezevant and Gail Gatlin of Cedar Grove;
sixteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren
and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Howse Baptist Church.
Janice Chatham
JACKSON: Services Janice Simpson Chatham, 65, formerly
of Trezevant, were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 3 at
West Jackson Baptist Church with Dr. Maurice Hollingsworth
officiating. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery in North
Madison County. Arrington Funeral Directors was in charge
of the arrangements.
Mrs. Chatham died suddenly on Tuesday, April 30 at Baptist
East Hospital in Memphis.
A native of Medina, she was the daughter of the late Luton
and Hallie Greenhaw Simpson. She was married to Jerry
Chatham, who preceded her in death in 1987. She was a
graduate of Northside High School and received a
bachelor's degree from Bethel College and a master's
degree from University of Tennessee at Martin. A school
teacher for many years, she retired in 1997 from the West
Carroll School District. After her retirement, she became
an active substitute teacher for the Jackson-Madison
County Schools. Mrs. Chatham was elected to the
Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame in the spring
of 1999. She was a very active member of the West Jackson
Baptist Church and the Singles II Sunday School class.
Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Campbell of
Nashville and Carlin Elrod of Humboldt; a son, Neal
Chatham of Dyersburg; a brother, Jerry Simpson of
Collierville; a sister, Claudia Graves of Medina; and four
grandchildren.
A daughter, Jana Chatham Haynes, also preceded her in
death in 1992.
The family has requested that memorials be directed to the
American Cancer Society, 2935 Hwy 45 Bypass, Jackson, TN
38305 or the Building Fund of West Jackson Baptist Church,
580 Oil Well Road, Jackson, TN 38305.
Lottie Wells Ford
MARTIN: Services for Lottie Wells Ford, 86, were at
1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 7 at Central Baptist Church with
the Rev. Raymon Carneal and Rev. Matt Brown officiating.
Burial was in East Side Cemetery in Martin.
Mrs. Ford, widow of Jack Ford, died Saturday, May 4 at Van
Ayer Nursing Home.
She was born July 19, 1915 to the late Henry Wells and
Nola Riggs Wells. She was a member of Central Baptist
Church.
Survivors include a son, Bill Ford of Jackson; two
daughters, Barbara Everett of Martin and Betty Reaves of
McKenzie; five grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.
William G. Rhodes
CEDAR GROVE: Services for William G. Rhodes, 84, will
be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 8 at Bodkin Funeral Home
in Milan with burial in the Obion Chapel Cemetery near
Cedar Grove. A son, William E. Rhodes, preceded him in
death.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene Rhodes of Cedar Grove;
three brothers, Alton Rhodes, Ike Rhodes and John T.
Rhodes, all of Lexington; a sister, Lessie Williams of
Eads and a grandson.
James W. Blount
BUENA VISTA: Services for James W. Blount, 83, were at
2:00 p.m., Monday, May 6 at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel
with the Rev. Jimmy Allison officiating. Burial was in
Jamison Cemetery near Westport.
Mr. Blount, retired conductor for L&N Railroad, died
Thursday, May 2 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in
Huntingdon.
He was born in Henderson County to the late Willie Gray
Blount and Siddie Walker Blount. He was a member of
Westport Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Juanita Cox of Buena
Vista, Mary Ruth Enochs of Huntingdon and Louise Williams
of Amarillo, Texas.
His wife, Margaret Woodard Blount, preceded him in death.
Nicky Lee Wynne
DRESDEN: Services for Nicky Lee Wynn, 51, formerly of
Gleason were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 7 at the Gallimore
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Copeland officiating.
Interment followed in the Hopewell Cemetery.
Mr. Wynne, a retired truck driver, died on Saturday, May 4
at Methodist Volunteer Hospital.
He was born on June 20, 1950 in Barger, Texas. He was a
member of Beech Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn H. Wynne; his mother,
Dorothy Babb Kreuger of Dresden; two daughters, Nicki Jo
Anaya and Cari Jo Garcia, both of Witchita, Kansas; a
stepdaughter, Shannon Marshall of Kent, Washington; a
stepson, Scott Jackson of Dresden and two grandchildren.
His father, Harold Marvin Wynne preceded him in death.
Yadira Maya Ramirez
PARIS: Services for Yadira Maya Ramirez, 18, will be
at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 8 at the Ridgeway Funeral
Home Rosary with Rev. Victor Ciaramitaro officiating.
Burial will take place in the LaPiedad Michoacan, Mexico.
Miss Ramirez died on Sunday, May 5.
She was born on May 24, 1983 in LaPiedad Michoacan, Mexico
to Salvador Maya and Concepcion Ramirez. She had resided
in Paris for an unspecified time.
Survivors include her parents, who reside in Mexico, and
an aunt and uncle, Sylvia and Jaime Onate of Paris. |
