George Warren Barksdale
1920-2002
MCKENZIE: George Warren Barksdale, a retired
instructor of the Tennessee Vocational Technical School,
died Monday, September 30 at the Methodist Hospital in
McKenzie. He was 81.
He was a member of the McKenzie Fire Department, the
Civil Air Patrol, and the McKenzie Methodist Church.
Services were held at the Brummitt Funeral Home Chapel
at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 3 with the Rev. Dennis
Beal officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mr. Barksdale, the husband of Brooxie Penny Barksdale
leaves one son, Kenneth W. Barksdale of Manchester; two
daughters, Alice Barrett of Nolensville and Shirley
Crutchfield of McKenzie; three grandchildren, Mike
Barrett, Leigh Ann Pittman and Susan Butler; two
great-grandchildren and one brother, Kenneth Marvin
Barksdale of Louisville, Kentucky.
One daughter, Janice Wright, preceded him in death.
Three brothers, Wilburn, Wendell and Willard Barksdale
and one sister, Mary Francis Bannister, also preceded
him in death. Chuck Paschall
1948-2002
MCKENZIE: Charles D. "Chuck" Paschall, 54, died on
Monday, September 30 at Methodist Hospital in Jackson
after a battle with cancer.
A graveside service was held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday,
October 1 at Walker Cemetery with Dr. Gary S. Collier of
Paris officiating.
McEvoy Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Born September 3, 1948 in Chicago, he was a son of the
late Dudley and Ira Adams Paschall.
Paschall was disabled. He had formerly worked as a
factory laborer at Gaines Manufacturing in McKenzie.
Survivors include one sister, Velma McBride of McKenzie;
a brother, Larry Paschall of McKenzie and several nieces
and nephews. William Thomas Wheat
1929-2002
MCKENZIE: William Thomas Wheat, 73, died on
Thursday, October 3 at Methodist Hospital in McKenzie.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday,
October 5 at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Bro.
Gene Price officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet
Cemetery.
Mr. Wheat, the son of the late Vernon Thomas and Ethel
Verdell Wheat was born on February 24, 1929 in Gleason.
He retired as Director of Engineering at Henrotin
Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Golden Wheat; two
daughters, Judie Tate of Berwyn, Illinois and Fay
Stacknik of Dallas, Georgia; three sisters, Doris Ray of
McHenry, Illinois, Shirley Ramos of Chicago, and Mary
Ruth Ray of McKenzie; one brother, Kenneth Wheat of
Wynnburg; three grandchildren Candy Saulsberry, Stacy
Moran and Jessica Stacknik; two great-grandchildren,
Alaina Saulsberry and Carson Moran; and several nieces
and nephews. Melba R. Brown
1929-2002
BRUCETON: Graveside services for Melba R. Brown, 73,
were at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 1 at New Hope
Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Whitworth
officiating.
Mrs. Brown died on Monday, September 30 at her home.
She was born February 24, 1929 in the Vale Community to
the late William Clyde Rogers and Edith Blance Ware
Rogers.
Survivors include a niece Sandra Lemmons and a nephew
Edward Cates, both of Bruceton.
Her husband, Berlon J. Brown and a son, Matthew Brown,
both preceded her in death. |
