Second Annual Wildcat Tennis Classic Set for August 14-18 |

The Second Annual Bethel College Wildcat Tennis Classic
will be held August 14-18 at Veterans Park in Huntingdon.
Singles and doubles divisions are open for all age groups.
Entry fee is $10 per person per event plus a can of
unopened tennis balls. The deadline to enter is August 12
at 6:00 p.m. The first 50 entrants will receive a free
t-shirt. For more information or to sign up, please

Jean Shoppe Runner-up In Alabama NSAB State Tournament |
|

The Jean Shoppe team traveled to Birmingham, Alabama
last weekend to compete in the 18-team NSAB State
Tournament. The Shoppe won five games before losing in
the championship game to Birmingham Merchants.
"We played a total of seven games in one day," said
Coach Greg Blackburn. "It was extremely hot and I was
very proud of the effort the men showed." |

Soccer Registration Saturday |
|
| |
Registration for the fall McKenzie Soccer League season
will be at City Hall on August 10 and 17 from 10:00 a.m.
until 2:00 p.m. Everyone should be signed up no later
than the 17th so that teams can be picked and shirts
ordered. The first game will be on Saturday, September
7. Registration fee is $10. per child or $25 for three
or more from the same family.There will be a
beginner's group in the 41/2-5 age group for youngsters
who have never played or who played in the spring but
did not fully mature into a 5-6 -year-old veteran. The
normal 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, and 11-14 age groups will be
formed as usual. A child should be five years old and no
older than 14 as of October 1, 2002. Exception: the
beginner's group may contain 41/2-year-olds as of
October 1.
