McKenzie High School honored its 10 seniors that have
participated in the basketball program over their high
school careers between games with Lexington last Tuesday
night. Three Lady Rebels, Meagan Bowlin, Amanda Barnes and
Lindsey Jones; two cheerleaders, Kaci Mebane and Jill
Stambaugh and five Rebels, Jonathan Adkisson, David
Duncan, Rory Lacey, Carone Tharpe and Brandon Trull, along
with their parents were introduced to the crowd.Recognized first were the two cheerleaders. Kaci is the
daughter of Kenny and Marion Graves and Glynn and Joan
Mebane and a four-year member of the cheerleading squad.
She is a member of Deca, Spanish Club, and secretary of
Tennessee Tomorrow. She is also a member of the M-Club,
Beta Club and yearbook staff. She plans to attend UT
Martin and become an attorney.
Jill is the daughter of Mark and Tammy Stambaugh and Lori
and Derek Wyatt and a four-year member of the cheerleading
squad. She is a member of Fellowship of Christian
Athletes, Spanish Club, Key Club, DECA, Library Club,
Tennessee Tomorrow, Beta Club, yearbook staff, secretary
of the M-Club and her class Student Council
representative. She plans to attend UT Martin and major in
journalism.
The Lady Rebels were then introduced with their parents.
Amanda is the daughter of David and Alice Barnes. She has
been a four-year member of the Lady Rebel squad and is a
member of the Beta Club, M-Club and Fellowship of
Christian Athletes. She plans to attend Middle Tennessee
State University and major in computer information
systems.
Meagan is the daughter of Scott and Darlene Bowlin and a
two-year member of the Lady Rebels, having transferred to
MHS her junior year. She is a member of the M-Club,
Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Key Club. She also
plans to attend Middle Tennessee State University and
major in fashion merchandising.
Lindsey is the daughter of Tony and Jeanene Jones. She is
a four-year member of the Lady Rebels squad, a member of
FTA, BPA, Principal's Advisory Council, Renaissance Club,
Tennessee Tomorrow, Key Club, DECA, National Advisory
Council, M-Club, FCA and Project Echo. She plans to attend
Bethel College and pursue a career in elementary
education.
The five senior Rebels were then recognized. Jonathan is
the son of Elnora Adkisson. He is a three-year member of
the squad and was also a member of the MHS football team.
He is a member of DECA, M-Club, FCA, Nutrition Advisory
Council and Minority Council. He was named All Region and
All West Tennessee Honorable Mention for his senior
football season. He would like to attend college.
David is the son of David Duncan and Melissa Duncan. He
played football four years, basketball three years and
participated in track for five years. He was named All
Region and All West Tennessee in football his senior year
and received the TSSAA Athlete Merit Award for a GPA of
3.5 or higher. He would like to attend college.
Rory is the son of Frank and Donna Lacey. He is a
four-year member of the Rebel squad, a member of the Beta
Club and DECA. He plans to join the U.S. Navy following
graduation.
Carone is the son of Cassandra Milliken and Ray Tharpe. He
is a four-year member of the basketball team, a member of
the Beta Club, president of the Renaissance Club, M-Club,
Library Club, Student Advisory Council, Science Club,
Nutrition Advisory Council, DECA and FCA. He was
recognized by the TSSAA for his academic and athletic
abilities, was named All Region Honorable Mention in
football and Best Defensive Player. He plans to attend
MTSU and major in chiropractic medicine.
Brandon is the
son of Dr. Dennis and Suzanne Trull. He is a four-year
member of the Rebel squad and a member of the Leo Club,
president of the Student Council, senior class secretary
and M-Club treasurer. He plans to attend college and major
in pre-med. |
