Matt was a 1999 honor graduate of Bethel College with a double degree in Accounting and Business Administration. Prior coming to Bethel, Matt was a 1995 graduate of Gleason High School in Gleason. Matt is the son of Lavelle Floyd, of Gleason, and the late Lonnie Floyd.

Since arriving at Bethel in the fall of 1995, Matt has held many employment positions at the college. He served as the college Webmaster and a computer technician until his graduation in May 2002. He then was hired as an Admissions Representative in September of 1999 and held that position till his promotion to Assistant Financial Officer in November 2000. Last fall, Matt was hired as the Women's Tennis Coach, while continuing to serve as Assistant Financial Officer. Matt is also very active volunteering in the Alumni Office and other departments on campus. "I jokingly tell people that my goal is to work in every office on this campus," stated Matt. "Now, I'm beginning to think it might actually happen."

In addition to his responsibilities as Sports Information Director, Matt will continue to be head women's tennis coach and will also become the new manager of the Gaines Swimming Pool at Bethel. Matt stated, "I think that this new job will allow me to help promote not only our fine student-athletes and athletic programs, but also to help make the community aware of all new and exciting things going on at Bethel. I'm really looking forward to this new endeavor."

"Our athletic department has really taken a big step with the hiring of Matt Floyd as our Sports Information Director. I have full confidence he will do an outstanding job in this new capacity," stated Associate Athletic Director Jeff Britt.

Bethel College currently has athletic opportunities in 18 different sports. The Wildcats have added women's golf and men's and women's cross country starting in August 2002. This should be an exciting year of Wildcat athletics at Bethel College.
