Dale Pearman
1934-2003
ATWOOD: A memorial service for Dale Pearman, 68, was
at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 5 at Bodkin Funeral Home.
Mr. Pearman, a retired engineer, died on Monday, July 28
at Humboldt General Hospital.
He was a member of the NCRS (National Corvette
Restoration Society) where he was a 400+ Level Judge. He
was the owner and restorer of the 1962 Corvette LeMans
race car and founder of Ellendale Stables, Sherborn,
Massachusetts.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Pearman of
Toronto, Canada; a son, Gary Stewart Pearman-Smith of
New Bedford, Massachusetts and a sister, Margie Sevcik
of Florida.Geraldine Todd Dailey
1930-2003
HUNTINGDON: Former Routon resident Geraldine Todd
Dailey, 73, was dead on arrival Sunday, July 27 at
Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 17, 1930, she was the
daughter of Ezell and Trilby Dowdy Young Brewer who
preceded her in death. Also preceding her in 1987 was
her first husband of 41 years, W.L. Todd of Big Sandy
and her second husband, Cecil Dailey in 1998.
She was a homemaker and a member of the McKenzie Church
of God.
Services were held on Thursday, July 31 at 10:00 a.m. at
Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home in Big Sandy, with Rev.
Clarence Depew officiating. Burial was in McRae’s Chapel
Cemetery in Big Sandy.
She leaves two sons, Jimmy Dorse Todd of Springfield,
Kentucky and Daniel Lee Todd of West, Virginia; four
sisters, Kathryn Dailey, Sara Daily and Ezella Thompson,
all of Huntingdon and Patricia Boone of McKenzie, two
grandsons, John Travis Todd and Jason Dorse Todd, one
step-grandchild, Russell Dailey; two great-grandchildren
Dillon and Zachary Todd, and one step-great-grandchild,
Brandy Dailey and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Jane Daniels
1967-2003
SHARON: Graveside services for Mary Jane Daniels,
35, were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 1 at Pleasant
Grove Cemetery in Sidonia with Bro. Roy Auvenshine
officiating.
Mrs. Daniels died on Monday, July 28 at Providence
Health Center in Waco, Texas.
She was born on December 5, 1967 in Dyersburg.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Aviles, David
Aviles and Steven Aviles, all of Waco, Texas; her
father, Limuel Wesley Daniels of Dyersburg, her mother
and stepfather, Bertha and Donald Burton of Sharon; one
sister, Joyce Ann Farrar of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; and
two brothers, Limuel Daniels of Greenfield and James
Daniels of Munford.
Bruceton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Jewel Pearl Whitehead
1915-2003
MCKENZIE: Services for Jewel Pearl Whitehead, 87,
were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 1 at Brummitt Funeral
Home in McKenzie with Bro. Dennis Watts and Bro. Dan
Grishem officiating. Interment followed in Oak Grove
Cemetery in Edison.
Mrs. Whitehead, a homemaker, died on Tuesday, July 29 at
McKenzie HealthCare Center. She was a member of the
Calvary Tabernacle Church in McKenzie.
She was born on December 4, 1915 in Lee County,
Mississippi to the late Mary Samples and John Cornelius
McFadden. She was also preceded in death by her husband,
Wallace Whitehead and two grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Harold Whitehead of
Trezevant and Jerry Whitehead of Hohenwald; one
daughter, Carolyn Cox of McKenzie; two sisters, Joyce
Taylor and Geneva Donogue, both of California; four
grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; three
step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
Odell Simmons
1920-2003
MCLEMORESVILLE: Services for Odell Simmons, 83, were
at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 31 at New Reedy Creek
Baptist Church in McLemoresville with Rev. Kenneth
Hillsman officiating. Interment followed in the church
cemetery.
Mr. Simmons had retired from the Milan Arsenal following
34 years of employment. He was a member of the New Reedy
Creek Missionary Baptist Church and served as a Deacon,
church clerk, Sunday school teacher and trustee.
He was born on March 19, 1920 to the late John Ira and
Anner Nesbitt Simmons. Three brothers, Felix “Jack”
Simmons, James “Kootie” Simmons and Artis Simmons also
preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Anna B. Algee
Simmons; five children, Margaret Williams, Jimmy
Simmons, Annie Jenkins, Ernest Simmons and Carol
Simmons; three sisters, Onie Luter of Nashville, Evelyne
Hillsman of McLemoresville, and Rosie Mitchell of Gary,
Indiana; 14 grandchildren, and eight
great-grandchildren.
Baskerville Funeral Home of Humboldt-Trenton was in
charge of the arrangements.
Charlie B. Seiber
1923-2003
BRUCETON: Services for Charlie B. Seiber, 80, were
held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30 at Ridgeway
Funeral Home’s LeDon Chapel in Paris with Oskar Seiber
officiating. Burial followed in the Sandy Point Cemetery
in Camden.
Mr. Seiber, an auto mechanic in Illinois, died on
Saturday, July 26 at Huntingdon Baptist Memorial
Hospital.
He was born on May 5, 1920 late Joseph Alex Seiber and
Parril Belle Griggs Seiber on May 5, 1923 in Hohenwald.
He as also preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy Seiber
and Billy Joe Seiber; a sister, Pearl James and a
brother, Willie Seiber.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Bobbitt Seiber; seven
daughters, Charlotte Ferguson of Milan, Katherine
Karmolinski of Indiana and Peggy Hulsart, Carolyn
Doerflein, Patsy Wolfe, Joann Seiber and Elizabeth
Swedrock, all of Illinois; three sons, Charles Seiber,
David Seiber and Larry Seiber, all of Illinois; three
sisters, Annie Love of Camden, Ollie Lorine Clay of
Jackson, Kentucky and Emma Smith of Columbia, South
Carolina; several grandchildren and several
great-grandchildren.
Leslie Earl Clement
1918-2003
BRUCETON: Services for Leslie Earl Clement, 85, were
at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 30 at the Bruceton Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Bradshaw officiating.
Interment followed in Prospect Cemetery.
Mr. Clement, a commercial construction operating
engineer, died on Tuesday, July 29 at Camden General
Hospital.
He was born on February 19, 1918 in Kentucky to the late
Leslie and Carrie Roland Clement. He was a member of the
Independent Missionary Baptist Church and was a World
War II army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Dale Luther Clement of
Bruceton and one stepdaughter, Mrs. Karen Woods of
Bruceton, two step-grandsons and one
step-great-grandchild.
Mary F. Powell
1920-2003
TREZEVANT: Services for Mary F. Powell, 83, were at
3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 3 at the Brummitt Funeral
Home in Trezevant with Freeman Weems and Gerald Piror
officiating. Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in
Trezevant.
Mrs. Powell, a homemaker, died on Thursday, July 31 at
her home in Millington. She was a member of the First
Baptist Church in Atoka.
She was born on May 9, 1920 in Greenfield to the late
Victoria Moore Bland and Albert Bland. Her husband,
Robert Powell, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include four sons, Jerry Thomas Powell of
Paris, Sammy Odell Powell of Troy, John Ray Powell of
Nashville and Tommy Robert Powell of Memphis; two
daughters, Dean Wyatt of Millington and Brenda Fay Hyder
of Paris; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and
11 great-great-grandchildren.
Doris W. Minet
1921-2003
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Doris W. Minet, 81, died on
Saturday, August 2 at the Jackson-Madison County General
Hospital.
Mrs. Minet was born on November 30, 1921 in Norwich,
Connecticut to the late Wilfred and Dorilla Mosse Smith.
She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, the
Eastern Star and was a retired employee of T.J. Max.
Survivors include three daughters, Pat Allen of
Huntingdon, Lois Quaid of Huntsville, Alabama and Arlene
Marcheselli of Bedford, Massachusetts; one sister, Betty
Ann Patrie of Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts; and four
grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Irene Boyd Brown
1912-2003
HOLLOW ROCK: Mrs. Irene Boyd Brown, 90, died on
Tuesday, July 29 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in
Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday,
August 2 at 1:00 p.m. in the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church
with Reverend Rodney Campbell and Reverend James Pettus
officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Nebo Pisgah
Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown, a homemaker, was born September 11, 1912 in
Henry County. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Miller T. Brown, her parents, a daughter, Fleetie Pearl
Brown; two brothers, Ocie Boyd and Elvie “Tump” Boyd,
and a sister, Dobie Booker.
She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Parker of Hollow
Rock and one grandchild Tywone Parker.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Elwood Norman
1941-2003
CEDAR GROVE: Mr. Elwood Norman, 61, died on Tuesday,
July 29 at the Transitional Care Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, August 1 at
2:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Bro.
John Columbus officiating. Interment followed in the
Christian Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Norman, the son of the late Homer and America
Stiltner Norman was born on December 21, 1941 in
Williamson, West Virginia. He was an employee of Henry
I. Siefel and a Vietnam army veteran. He was preceded in
death by a brother, Herman Norman.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Sue Chaney
Norman; two sons, Sean Norman of Huntingdon and George
Norman of Cedar Grove; one sister, Nora Sue Ward of
Honaker, Virginia; one brother, Noah Stiltner of Grundy,
Virginia; and three grandchildren.
LeRoy Cobb
1939-2003
HOLLOW ROCK: Mr. Leroy Cobb, 64, died on Saturday,
August 2 at his home. Funeral services were conducted on
Monday, August 4 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home
Chapel with Reverends Rufus Chandler and Robert Simmons
officiating. Interment followed in the New Hope Cemetery
near Yuma.
Mr. Cobb, the son of the late James Oscar and Ella Wease
Webb Cobb, was born May 23, 1939 in Carroll County. He
was also preceded in death by one brother, Darce Lee
Cobb and a sister, Lavern Bennett. He was a retired
mechanic for Henry I. Siegel.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Mrs. Janie Hodge
Cobb; one son, Chris Cobb of Paris; three brothers,
Jackie Cobb of Hollow Rock; Noel Cobb of Huntingdon and
Eugene Cobb of Madison Heights, Michigan; and one
sister, Judy Hopper of Hollow Rock.
Cornelia G. Parish
1922-2003
MEMPHIS: Mrs. Cornelia G. Parish, 81, formerly of
Huntingdon, died on Wednesday, July 30 at the Allen
Morgan Nursing Center in Memphis. Funeral services were
conducted on Friday, August 1 at 2:00 p.m. in the
Huntingdon First United Methodist Church with Dr. Phil
Mullikin and Dr. William P. Bailey officiating.
Interment followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Parish, the daughter of the late Harrison and
Linnie Jones Gowan was born on January 28, 1922 in
Madison County. She was a retired employee of the Publix
Corporation and a member of the Huntingdon First United
Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Winifred C. Parish.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Smith of Memphis
and one granddaughter.

Leo Russell Martin
1905-2003
GLEASON: Services for Leo Russell Martin, 98, were
on Sunday, August 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral
Home with Rev. Gene Price officiating. Interment
followed in the Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Yuma.
Mr. Martin, a retired farmer, died on Thursday, July 31
at the Hillview Nursing Home in Dresden. He was a member
of the First Pentecostal Church in Ridgely.
He was born in Henry on February 27, 1905 to the late
Franklin Atlas Martin and Gracie Henderson Martin. He
was also preceded in death by his wife, Ila Martin.
Survivors include four sons, Doyle Martin of McKenzie,
Carmen Martin of Buchanan and Loyle Martin and Charlie
Martin, both of Gleason; two daughters, Betty Antwine of
Gleason and Nettie Jean Dilday of Westfield Center,
Ohio; 22 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
Lois Bourn-Burns
1945-2003
GLEN-CARBON, ILLINOIS: Services for Lois
Bourn-Burns, 57, formerly of Gleason, were on Wednesday,
July 30 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gallimore Funeral Home with
Rev. Roy Auvenshine officiating. Interment followed in
the New Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Bourn-Burns died on Friday, July 25 at the
Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Mrs. Bourn-Burns was born on December 1, 1945 in Gleason
to the late Jeter Buntin and Hester Mae Southerland
Buntin. She had worked for the American Airlines Air
Cargo Department for 37 years.
Survivors include her husband, Willie James Burns; one
stepson, Jermaine Burns of Charlotte, North Carolina;
two stepdaughters, Shaning Burns of Albany, Georgia and
Sakim Burns of Dawson, Georgia; one brother, Kenneth
Buntin of Lavergne and seven step-grandchildren.
Betty Jo Mitchell
1931-2003
MCKENZIE: Services for Betty Jo Mitchell, 72, will
be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 6 at Kingdom Hall
Church with Bro. Leroy Taylor officiating. Burial will
be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
She was born Betty Jo Mustain on April 3, 1931 in
Dyersburg to the late Lela Lavita Hendrix and William
Earnest Mustain.
Mrs. Mitchell, retired employee of World Color in
Dresden, lost her 14-year battle to cancer on Sunday,
August 3 at her home in McKenzie.
She was married for almost 54 years and is survived by
her husband, John Mitchell. She is also survived by two
sons, Paul Mitchell of Lynnwood, Washington and Mark
Mitchell of McKenzie, as well as three grandchildren,
Chris Mitchell of Snoqualmie, Washing, Chase Mitchell of
McKenzie and Kristin Mitchell of McKenzie; two
great-grandchildren; one sister, Willie Monroe of
Trenton and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in
death by several brothers and sisters. Betty had been a
member of the McKenzie Congregation of Jehovah’s
Witnesses since 1959 and saw the group grow from about a
dozen to over 100. She now awaits the promised
resurrection.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 5 from 4:00-9:00
p.m. and until services on Wednesday. |
