Larry Daniel Brooks
1953-2003
MCKENZIE:
Services for Larry Daniel Brooks, 49, were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 19 at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Bro. Kenny Carr officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mr. Brooks, a construction coordinator for Charter Communications and owner of Brooks Landscaping (McKenzie), died on Thursday, January 16 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was born January 31, 1953 in Memphis.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Spencer Brooks; mother, Frances Brooks of McKenzie; a son, Sonny Brooks of McKenzie; two stepsons, Billy June of Jackson and Jeremy June of McKenzie; a brother, Wyatt Brooks of McKenzie; three sisters, Amanda Epperson of Kennesaw, Georgia, Lee Gray of Como and Ann Morgan of McKenzie; and two grandchildren, Colby and Kayley Brooks of Gleason. He was preceded in death by his father, William Brooks.
Mr. Brooks was an organ donor.

Desmar Hatch
1917-2003
LEXINGTON:
Services for Desmar Hatch, 85, were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16 at Reed's Chapel Funeral Home. Burial was in the Farmsville Cemetery.
Desmar, a retired employee of General Motors, died on Monday, January 13 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Survivors include three daughters, Loretta Joyce Parris of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Mavis Delois Jones of Senath, Missouri, and Lareva Doris Richardson of Greenwood, Arkansas; two sons, James Lanoice Hatch of Imperial, Missouri and Max Royce Hatch of Stanton, Virginia; one half-sister, Vonnie Woods of Yuma; two half-brothers, Ben Hatch and Connie Hatch, both of Yuma; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Allie Mae Grissom
1909-2003
GLEASON:
Services for Allie Mae Grissom, 93, were at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 18 at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rayman Carneal officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Grissom, retired owner of the Dixie Cafe, died on Thursday, January 16 at McKenzie Health Care Center.
She was born September 14, 1909 in Troy to the late Jim West and Manie P. Sterling Ponder. She was a member of the Gleason First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Rosalee Snider of Gleason, Dorothy Gean Carroll of Paris and Mary Esch of Bartlett; a brother, Edward Ponder of Gurney, Illinois; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Fred Brown Grissom and a son, Roy M. Grissom also preceded her in death.

Allie B. Snider
1914-2003
GLEASON:
Services for Allie B. Snider, 88, were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 19 at Gallimore Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Mr. Snider, a retired bridge foreman and Weakley County Highway Department employee, died on Wednesday, January 15 at Van Ayer Manor.
He was born December 28, 1914 in Paris to the late Joe and Mary Frances Anderson Snider. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Marie Snider; daughter, Sandra Stewart of Martin; a son, Bill Snider of Memphis; three brothers, Dudley Snider of Gleason, Verdean Snider of Jackson and Duane Snider of Olive Branch, Mississippi; two sisters, Mary Kemp of Dresden and Blanche Bullock of Gleason; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Shirley Mae Bullock
1914-2003
GLEASON:
Services for Shirley Mae Bullock, 88, widow of Doyle Bullock were Monday, January 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home with Dr. Joseph Geary officiating. Burial was in the Hopewell Cemetery.
Mrs. Bullock died Friday, January 17 at Henry County Health Care.
She was born May 10, 1914 in Gleason to the late Thomas and Callie Law Cooper.
Survivors include a daughter, Dianne Blackburn of Paris; a son, Tommy Bullock of Jackson; a sister, Eulean Lehmann of Chicago, Illinois; four grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Chester C. Wimberly
1906-2003
MCKENZIE:
Services for Chester C. Wimberly, 96, were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18 at the McKenzie Church of Christ with Bro. Terry Joe Kee and Bro. Kenneth Edwards officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mr. Wimberly, a retired Union Pacific Railroad employee died Wednesday, January 15 at Oak Manor Health Care Center.
He was born May 22, 1906 to the late Mary and Ivy Grey Wimberly.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Wimberly; one son, Ben Wimberly of Antioch, California; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Williams Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Betty Sue Steele
1932-2003
GLEASON:
Services for Betty Sue Steele, 70, were Thursday, January 16 at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jim Stubbs, Jack Dickerson and Gene Price officiating. Burial was in the Hopewell Cemetery.
Mrs. Steel died on Tuesday, January 14 at McKenzie Health Care Center.
She was born January 28, 1932 to the late Robert and Onie Ruth Hawks Bell. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Gleason Women's Club and United Methodist Women.
A brother, Harold Bell and a sister, Lennie Sudberry preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Ellie H. Steele; four daughters, Debbie Hagler, Amy Orr, Becky Lowrance, all of Gleason and Beth Steele of Nashville; one son, Stan Steele of Gleason; one sister, Virginia Heath of Memphis; one brother, Ralph Bell of Memphis and eight grandchildren.
Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

James Elijah "Lige" Parker
1933-2003
MILAN:
Services for Jimmy Elijah "Lige" Parker, 69, were at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16 at the First Baptist Church. Burial was in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Bodkin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Parker, a retired Milan Arsenal employee, died on Sunday, January 12 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milan, A U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the VFW Post #4780 in Milan and a Bethel College graduate.
Surviving are his wife, Kay Parker; two daughters, Suzanne Parker Tagg of Germantown and Mary Hope Parker Lisle of Arvada, Colorado; a sister, Linda Roe of Bartlett; a brother, Joel Parker of Trenton; a sister-in-law, Ann Adams of McKenzie; and three grandchildren, Williams Parker Green,10, Samuel Jeffrey Green, 7, and Mary Canale Tagg 11 months, all of Germantown.
Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Building Fund.

Lillian Elizabeth Hutcheson
1912-2003
MCKENZIE:
Mrs. Lillian Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hutcheson, 90, died Thursday, January 16 at the Methodist Healthcare Center in McKenzie. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, January 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Mann officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mrs. Hutcheson was born on February 12, 1912 in Gibson County to the late Bell Finley and Nora Britton Delaney. She was a Baptist by belief. Her husband, Rollie Clifton Hutcheson, who died on November 25, 1993; four sons, Marvin "Buddy" Hutcheson, Bell Hutcheson, Jerry Clyde Hutcheson, and Billy Ray Hutcheson; one daughter, Betty Fay Hutcheson and two infant children, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Jane Hutchins and Shirley Jean McCormack, both of McKenzie; Betty Joe Reynolds of Gleason and Peggy Burton of Bartonville, Illinois; one son, John W. Hutcheson of Chewalla; one brother, James Delaney of McKenzie; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Irby Byrd Sappington
1907-2003
MEMPHIS:
Services for Irby Byrd Sappington, 95, were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18 at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Bro. Roy Graves officiating. Burial was in the Rosehill Cemetery in Humboldt.
Mrs. Sappington, widow of Harold A. Sappington, died on Wednesday, January 15 at her residence.
She was born on December 23, 1907 in Parsons to the late Ella Mae Harris Byrd and Arthur T. Byrd. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include a brother, James E. Byrd of Murfreesboro and a sister, Elois Perry of Germantown, several nieces and nephews.

Jimmy Hudson
1946-2003
MEMPHIS:
Services for Jimmy Hudson, 56, were at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 18 at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Bro. Jim Roberts officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mr. Hudson died on Wednesday, January 15 at his residence.
He was born July 11, 1946 in McKenzie.
Survivors include his father, Charles Hudson, Jr. and stepmother, Kelly Hudson of Milan, a brother, Jerry Hudson and sister, Wanda Hudson, both of McKenzie.

Larry Bost
1927-2003
ATWOOD:
Services for Larry Bost, 75, of Jefferson City, formerly of Atwood, were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18 at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial in the Pisgah Cemetery in Atwood.
Mr. Bost, retired manager of Con-Agra Food Company, died on Tuesday, January 14 at his residence.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bolivar and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Betty S. Bost; two sons, William Bruce Bost of Rutledge and Larry Bost of Bloomingdale, Illinois; four daughters, Jane Weller of Danville, Illinois; Teri Overman of Crawfordsville, Indiana; Cathy MacDougall of Glendale Heights, Illinois and Tina Gabbard of Williamsport, Indiana; two sisters, Ann Eichler and Doris Browder, both of Jackson and three grandchildren.

Ruth Bayless Maddox
1912-2003
BRUCETON:
Mrs. Ruth Bayless Maddox, 90, died on Wednesday, January 15 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, January 17 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Terry Bradshaw officiating. Interment followed in the Prospect Cemetery.
Mrs. Maddox was born on April 13, 1912 in Bruceton to the late Henry Porter and Edith Priestley Taylor Bayless. She was a homemaker, a member of the Bruceton First Baptist Church, and lived most of her life in Bruceton. Her husband, Thomas Reed Maddox, who died January 30, 1976; two brothers, Porter Bayless and Jim Bayless and one grandson, Thomas Edward Engles, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Pam Maddox Butler of Buena Vista and Betsy Maddox Engles of Springdale, Arkansas; four sisters, Rosa Hammond of Memphis, Virginia Moore of Stephens City, Virginia, Edna Herring of Sheffield, Alabama and Caroline Cahoon of Oldsmar, Florida; one brother, Dick Bayless of Bruceton; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Maxine Williams
1929-2003
PARIS:
Services for Maxine Williams, 73, were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 19 at McEvoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Glen Elliott and Alan Trull officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams died on Thursday, January 16 at her residence. She was born October 1, 1929 in Henry County to the late Ervin Clayton and Gertie Canady Clayton. She and her husband were co-owners of Lewis and Williams Market for 23 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, J.C. Williams; a daughter, Rita Lewis of Henry; a brother, Tommye Clayton of Paris; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A son, Jimmy Darrell Williams preceded her in death.
