Beatrice Elizabeth Crossett
1913-2003
TREZEVANT: Services for Beatrice Elizabeth Crossett,
89, will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 29 at
First Baptist Church in Trezevant with Bro. Malcolm
Norton officiating. Burial will be in the McLemoresville
Cemetery. Brummitt Funeral Home in Trezevant is in
charge of the services.
Mrs. Crossett, a former employee at HIS in Trezevant,
died on Monday, January 27, at NHC Healthcare in Milan.
She was born October 18, 1913 in Trezevant to the late
Ina Simmons and A.G. Mullins. She was a member of the
First Baptist Church in Trezevant.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Crossett of Atwood; two
daughters, Helen Camper of Milan and Dorothy Ann
Phillips of Scottsboro, Alabama; a brother, Ben Mullins
of Memphis; two sisters, Betty Scott of Trezevant and
Alma Hopper of Memphis; seven grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Andrew David Crossett also preceded her in
death.
R.C. Goodrich
1924-2003
TREZEVANT: Services for R.C. Goodrich, 78, were held
at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan on January 25 at 2:00
p.m. with Brother Mark Howell of Atwood Church of Christ
officiating. Burial followed at Trezevant Cemetery.
R.C. was born in Gibson County to Rufus and Nannie Bee
Wesson Goodrich and was raised in Carroll County. After
serving in Italy in World War II, he moved to Oregon and
worked in the logging industry. He then moved to
Tennessee where he farmed and worked for the Tennessee
Valley Authority. He was a member of the Atwood Church
of Christ.
R.C.’s oldest brother James preceded him in death as did
his sisters, Maggie Churchwell and Margie Killen. His
surviving brother and sisters are Clarence Goodrich and
Betty Warf of Coos Bay, Oregon, Peggy Mullin of Cowallis,
Oregon, Ada McCombs of Lake, Mississippi and J.C.
Goodrich of Mount Holly, New Jersey.
Immediate family consists of R.C.’s wife of forty-eight
years, Juana; sons Robert Henderson of North Bend,
Oregon, Walter Clent and Rowdy Clarence of Huntingdon;
and one daughter, Debby Dean of Karnack, Texas. His
daughters-in-law are Mary Ann, Toni and Deborah Goodrich
and his son-in-law is David Dean.
He has seven grandchildren, Stephen, Jade and Jamie
Goodrich, Nathan Worrell, Charlotte White and Dallas and
Dylan Dean.
His five great-grandchildren are Kyle and Ethan
Goodrich, Ashton Worrell, Kyler White and Jaylen
Williams.
His wit and humor will be missed by those who loved him,
his family and friends alike.
Thomas Eugene Spain
1927-2003
CEDAR GROVE: Mr. Thomas Eugene Spain, 75, died on
Saturday, January 25 at his home. Funeral services were
conducted on Tuesday, January 28 at 1:00 p.m. in the
Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert Barger
officiating. Interment followed in the Pleasant Hill
Cemetery.
Mr. Spain was born on August 19, 1927 in Cedar Grove. He
was a retired truck driver for Tennessee Pump and
Supply, a member and elder of the Cedar Grove
Presbyterian Church and loved to be outdoors and work on
the farm. His father, Thomas Stacy Spain and two infant
brothers, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Wilma Jean Jones
Spain; his mother, Margaret Laverne Spain of Cedar
Grove, several nephews and cousins.
Mary Otilla Edmonston
1911-2003
GLEASON: Services for Mary Otilla Edmonston, 91,
were on Thursday, January 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Gallimore
Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Bennett officiating. Burial
was in West Union Cemetery.
Mrs. Edmonston, a retired nurse, died on Tuesday,
January 21, at Volunteer Community Hospital.
She was born on August 30, 1911 in Piggott, Arkansas to
the late Elbert Reavis and Daisy Hughes Travillian. She
was a member of the Gleason Church of Christ, Eastern
Star and Home Demonstration Club.
Three brothers, Lloyd Travillian, Glen Travillian and
Noah Travillian also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Robert “Duck” Edmonston,
stepdaughters, Gloria Taylor of Gleason and Suzette Wade
of Atlanta Georgia and brothers, Roy Travillian of
Gleason and Inloe Travillian of Greenville, Indiana,
several nieces and nephews.
Heather Nicole Hayes Ellis
1977-2003
BUENA VISTA: Mrs. Heather Nicole Hayes Ellis, 25,
died on Tuesday, January 21 at the Regional Medical
Center in Memphis. Funeral services were conducted on
Saturday, January 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral
Home Chapel with Bro. Fred Ward and Bro. Marshall Gurley
officiating. Burial followed in the McAuley Cemetery.
Mrs. Ellis was born on August 2, 1977 in Huntingdon. She
was a coordinator for the Department of Human Services
and graduate from Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High
School in 1995. She was preceded in death by her
paternal grandparents, Cova and Chlorine Hayes and her
maternal grandparents, Edward and Sue Kirby.
Survivors include her husband, Clint Ellis; one
daughter, Emilee Ellis, one son, Caleb Ellis, her father
and mother, Roger and Brenda Kirby Hayes of Buena Vista;
one sister, Tracy Barrett and one brother, Chris Hayes,
both of Huntingdon.
Frances McGee Cox
1911-2003
BRUCETON: Services for Frances McGee Cox, 91, were
held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 26 at Bruceton
Funeral home with the Revs. Richard Carruth and Steve
White officiating.
Mrs. Cox, a retired seamstress for HIS, died Friday,
January 24 at Camden General Hospital.
She was born June 10, 1911 in Rutherford to the late
Robert Gilford McGee and Freda Davidson McGee. She was a
member of the Bruceton First United Methodist Church and
the Ladies Auxiliary.
Her husband, C.D. Cox, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Potts of Bruceton,
two sisters, Margaret Taylor of Camden and Joyce Ragland
of Oak Ridge; two grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
Marvin B. “Bo” Thompson
1918-2003
PINE BLUFF, ARKANSAS: Marvin B. “Bo” Thompson, 84,
died early Tuesday morning, January 14 at Jefferson
Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
He was born on July 12, 1918, a son of the late Fonzie
C. and Mary Ione Bobo Thompson of McKenzie. He was
reared and educated in McKenzie before moving to Pine
Bluff in 1941. As a young man he worked on the family
farm while in Tennessee and worked as a carpenter in
Pine Bluff. He then served in the U.S. Army during World
War II. After the war he returned to Pine Bluff and
began work at the Pine Bluff Arsenal where he became
Chief of Facilities Maintenance. He retired in 1979
after 33 years of service at the arsenal. Mr. Thompson
married Virginia Henderson on November 3, 1945 in Pine
Bluff. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2002.
Mr. Thompson was a member and deacon at Central
Presbyterian Church. The American Legion Post 232 member
was a Master Mason with memberships included at Pine
Bluff Lodge #69, Free and Accepted Masons; the York Rite
Bodies; Lafayette Chapter Number 7 and the Grand Royal
Arch Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons; English Council
Number 14 of the Royal and Select Masters and Damascus
Commandery Number 8, Knights Templar.
Survivors include a son, M.E. “Tommy” Thompson of Pine
Bluff; a daughter, Patricia Lynn Bryant of Pine Bluff;
three brothers, Joe A. Thompson of Plano, Texas, Edward
Blake Thompson of Memphis and Fred C. Thompson of
Franklin and four grandchildren.
Services were Thursday, January 23 at 10:00 a.m. in the
chapel of the Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Home with
Reverend Richard Knott officiating. Interment was in the
Graceland Cemetery. The family requests that memorials
take the form of contributions to Central Presbyterian
Church, 6300 Trinity Drive, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.
Robert L. McKee
1912-2003
CEDAR GROVE: Services for Robert L. McKee, 90, were
on Friday, January 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Reed’s Chapel in
Lexington with Charles Thomason, P.J. Hardie, John
Mustain and Jerry Mills officiating. Burial was in
Bargerton Church of Christ Cemetery.
Mr. McKee died on January 21 at McNairy County Hospital
in Selmer.
He was a retired auto dealer and merchant and was a
member of the Bargerton Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Mildred McKee; five
daughters, Sandra Kay Morris, Marcia McNatt, and Melda
Mills, all of Lexington; Robbie Morrissett of Cedar
Grove and Reba Pruitt of Wildersville; one son, Jerry
McKee of Lexington; two sisters, Linnie Sue Pierce of
Humboldt and Helen Johnson of Lexington and three
brothers, Connie McKee of Lexington, Pete McKee of Milan
and Elston Dude McKee of Perry, Florida; thirteen
grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
David Perry Worley
1921-2003
HUNTINGDON: Mr. David Perry Worley, 81, died on
Thursday, January 23 at his home. The family will have a
private funeral ceremony at a later date. \
Mr. Worley was born on August 8, 1921 in East Arura, New
York to the late George Russell and Grave Evans Worley.
He was retired from the U.S. Forestry Division, a
professor at Penn State University at one time and was a
World War II army veteran. His wife, Eleanor McCauley
Worley, who died October 24, 1998, also preceded him in
death.
Survivors include one daughter, Cathrine A. Randall of
Charlottesville, Virginia; one son, David W. Worley of
Huntingdon and two grandchildren.
Chase Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
John Fred Barger
1920-2003
CEDAR GROVE: Mr. John F. Barger, 82, died on
Tuesday, January 21 at the Huntingdon Health and
Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, January 23
at 11:00 a.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with
Pastor Joe Shafer officiating. Interment followed in the
Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery.
Mr. Barger was born on November 18, 1920 in Carroll
County to the late Luther and Maude Gallimore Barger. He
was a retired logger and loved to deal with horses. Five
brothers and sisters also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Nolene Kelly Barger,
three daughters, Carolyn Breeden and Kathy Butler, both
of Cedar Grove and Brenda Pearson of Huntingdon; two
sisters, May Henry Gooch of Yuma and Mary Nell Cole of
Lavinia; one brother, Bobby Barger of Lavinia; six
grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandson.
Harold McKee
1936-2003
JACKSON: Mr. Harold McKee, 66, died on Tuesday,
January 21 at the Jackson-Madison County General
Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday,
January 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel
with Bro. Robert Tillery officiating. Interment followed
in the New Hope Cemetery.
Mr. McKee was born March 6, 1936 in Henderson County to
the late Norman and Alexia Potete McKee. He was a member
of the Highland Park Baptist Church, a retired meat
cutter for Town & Country Grocery, an avid fisherman and
quail hunter and served in the National Guard in
Lexington. One sister, Agnes McKee also preceded him in
death.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jean Gooch McKee;
one brother, Don McKee of Cedar Grove and two nephews.
Jeremy Shawne Ellis
1978-2002
CORDOVA: Mr. Jeremy Shawne Ellis, 24, formerly of
Huntingdon, died Sunday, January 26 at Jackson-Madison
County General Hospital from injuries received in an
automobile accident. Funeral services will be conducted
on Wednesday, January 29 at 1:00 p.m. in the Dilday
Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Kenneth Stapleton
officiating. Interment will follow at Davis Chapel
Cemetery.
Mr. Ellis was born on February 11, 1978 in Madison
County. He was a car salesman for World Rental Car
Sales. He graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1996
and served four years with the United States Marine
Corps. His paternal grandfather, Tyler Ellis and his
maternal grandfather, William Bolen both preceded him in
death.
Survivors include his father, Jimmy Ellis of Huntingdon;
his mother and stepfather, Jennifer and Eddie Oakley of
Lake Cormorant, Mississippi, his fiancé, Marsha Briggs
of Cordova; one daughter, Alli Ellis of Bruceton, his
paternal grandmother Fay Ellis of Huntingdon and
maternal grandmother, Joan Bolen of Clarksburg; and two
brothers, Chris Lewis and Marcus Lewis, both of
Huntingdon.
