Edward B. Campbell
1912-2003
TREZEVANT: Services for Edward B. Campbell, 91, will
be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 12 at Brummitt Funeral
Home in Trezevant with Bor. John Forgy and the Rev.
Malcolm Norton officiating.
Mr. Campbell, a retired millwright at the Milan Arsenal
and an engineer tech at NASA in Huntsville, Alabama,
died on Sunday, March 9 at Jackson-Madison County
General Hospital.
He was born on January 19, 1912 in Weakley County to the
late Lela Stoffle Campbell and Sam Campbell. He was a
member of the Church of Christ in Trezevant and a Mason
at Pleasant Green Lodge #291.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Eva Blaylock Campbell;
a son, Billy Campbell of Trezevant; a brother, Paul
Campbell of Nolensville and a sister Ruth Wells of
Humboldt.
Martha Anne “Bird” Myers
1956-2003
BRUCETON: Mrs. Martha Ann Myers, 47, died on
Tuesday, March 4, at her home. Funeral services were
conducted on Thursday, March 6 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase
Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. George Sellers
officiating. Interment followed in the Hopewell
Cemetery.
Mrs. Myers was born on February 26, 1956 in Carroll
County. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Billy Daniel
Myers, preceded her in death on December 22, 1983, her
father James Hugh Waldrup, who died on December 23, 2002
and her father-in-law, Jimmy Myers, who died on March
16, 1995.
Survivors include one daughter, Mandy Renee Myers of
West Memphis, Arkansas; one son, Eric Myers of Bruceton;
her mother, Iva Mae Waldrup of McKenzie, mother-in-law
Nellie Myers of Cedar Grove; two sisters, Judy Earls of
McKenzie and Betty Moore of Bruceton; one brother,
Edward Waldrup of Mayfield, Kentucky and one
granddaughter.
Curtis D. Moody, Jr.
1916-2003
LOS GATOS, CALIFORNIA: Memorial services for Curtis
D. Moody, Jr., 86, were Saturday, March 1 at a
retirement complex in Los Gatos. Mr. Moody died on
Friday, February 14. His body was cremated. He was the
son of the late Daisy Crutchfield Moody and Curtis
Davidson Moody of McKenzie.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed in
Londonderry, Northern Ireland during World War II. He
met his wife, Myra Hidgins while in Ireland. She came to
McKenzie in 1946 and they were later married at the
First Methodist Church. His father owned The McKenzie
Banner where Curtis learned the printing trade.
Following years of employment in printing in Chicago,
Evanston and the Los Gatos areas, he retired.
Besides his wife, other survivors include a son, David
Moody of Bloomington, Minnesota; two daughters, Diane
Warkentin of Cupertino, California; three sisters, Mrs.
Guy R. Kirk of Huntingdon, Mrs. Tommy Pilgrim of Memphis
and Mrs. E.J. Kearney of Clermont, Florida; four
granddaughters and two grandsons.
Mary Lessie Carroll
1915-2003
ATWOOD: Services for Mary Lessie Carroll, 87, were
at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 11 at Brummitt Funeral Home
in Trezevant with Brother Steve Martin officiating.
Burial was in Carter’s Chapel Cemetery in McLemoresville.
Mrs. Carroll, a retired factory worker at ITT in Milan
died on Sunday, March 9 at NHC Healthcare Center in
Milan.
She was born on March 16, 1915 in Huntingdon. She was a
member of the Carter’s Chapel in McLemoresville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Laymon E.
Carroll, mother Birdie Merritt Carroll and father,
Lucien Biggart.
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Carroll of
Louisville, KY and Dail Carroll of Atwood; brother,
Eugene Biggart of Huntingdon; two grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
Charles “Chuck” Leonard Bowden
1962-2003
FRANKLIN: Mr. Charles “Chuck” Leonard Bowden, 40,
died on Wednesday, March 5 at Williamson Medical Center.
Mr. Bowden was born in Chicago, Illinois and made his
home in Franklin. He was a graduate of the University of
Tennessee at Martin and received his Masters Degree at
Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. He
was a videographer with Nissan Motor Corp. He was
preceded in death by his father, Claude Mitchell “Bob”
Bowden; paternal grandparents Mitchell and Frances
Bowden and maternal grandparents Harry and Mary Young.
Survivors include his wife Jane Greathouse Bowden; three
sons, Ryan Bowden, Joshua Bowden and Luke Bowden, all of
Franklin; his mother, June Bowden Brummitt of McKenzie;
aunts and uncles Emily and Jerry Archer of McKenzie and
Jim B. Young of Dallas, Texas; one great-aunt, Mrs. Inez
Pendergrast of McKenzie and his father and
mother-in-law, Bob and Frances Greathouse of College
Grove.
Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 p.m., Friday,
March 7 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with Doy
Holman officiating. Burial was in the Williamson
Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers were Britt Jackson,
James Bolin, John Greathouse, Roy Hinckley, Henry
Marshall, Mark “Doc” Damon, Mike Cello and Bob McGee.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Archer, Jack Pennington,
Jennifer Pinson and Hays Brummitt and Chuck’s special
friends.
Williamson Funeral Home in Franklin was in charge of the
arrangements.
Earl Grisson
1939-2003
LEXINGTON: Funeral services for Earl Grissom, 63,
were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 3 at Pafford
Funeral Home wit burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Mr.
Grissom, a retired carpenter, died on Sunday, March 2 at
Lexington.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Hasselbrink of
Paris; three sons, Chris Grisson of Paris, Allen Grisson
of Puryear and Earl Grissom of Henry; two sisters, Eva
Akins of Texas and Patricia Hamlett of Lexington; and a
brother, Thomas Grissom of Milan.
David Bryant Traywick
1917-2003
MCLEMORESVILLE: Funeral services for David Bryant
Traywick, 85, were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6
at Brummitt Funeral Home in Trezevant with the Rev.
Tommy Martin officiating. Burial was in McLemoresville
Cemetery in McLemoresville. Mr. Traywick, retired from
the Milan Arsenal, died Tuesday, March 4 at Baptist
Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Mr. Traywick was born August 10, 1917 in Trezevant to
the late Addie May Traywick and Dosey Traywick. Two
sisters, Willie Fite and Lula Younger also preceded him
in death. He was a member of the Methodist Church in
McLemoresville.
Survivors include a special friend, Jewell Adams; a son,
Keith Traywick of McLemoresville; a daughter, Brenda (Rance)
White of McLemoresville; a brother, Neal Traywick; a
granddaughter, Denise (Brian) Lankford and a
great-granddaughter, Briley Lankford.
Windol Alfred Stewart
1924-2003
ATWOOD: Services for Mr. Windol Alfred Stewart, 79,
were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 7 at Bodkin Funeral
Home with burial in the Pisgah Cemetery in Atwood. Mr.
Stewart, a retired employee of the Milan Army Ammunition
Plant died on Tuesday, March 4.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in
Atwood where he was a member of the Frank Propst Sunday
School Class and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Marie Stewart of
Atwood and a brother, James Barnette Stewart of Milan.
Voil M. Childress
1915-2003
MCKENZIE: Services for Mr. Voil M. Childress, 87,
retired employee of Milan Arsenal were at 2:00 p.m.,
Thursday, March 7 at the First Baptist Church in
McKenzie with Bro. Dennis Trull officiating. Burial was
in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McKenzie. Brummitt Funeral
Home, Inc. at McKenzie was in charge of the
arrangements.
Mr. Childress died on Tuesday, March 4 at the McKenzie
Regional Hospital.
He was born on June 8, 1915 in McKenzie, son of the late
Carl and Dovie Miller Childress. He was a member of the
First Baptist Church of McKenzie and the VFW. He was a
World War II army veteran and a lifetime member of the
McKenzie Senior Citizens.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy V. Childress of
McKenzie; three daughters, Carolyn Coleman of McKenzie,
Nancy Blaylock of Trezevant and Sherry Morris of
Dickson; a brother, Lloyd J. Children of Mt. Moriah,
Missouri; a sister, Mae Anderson of Union City; nine
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Jeffie Mae Abbott Palmer
1912-2003
MCKENZIE: Services for Jeffie Mae Abbott Palmer, 90,
were at 3:30 p.m., Friday, March 7 at Brummitt Funeral
Home with Bro. Kenneth Edwards officiating. Burial was
in the Carroll Memorial Gardens in McKenzie.
Mrs. Palmer, a homemaker, died on Wednesday, March 5 at
McKenzie Regional Hospital. She was a member of various
clubs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jamie Douglas
Palmer, Sr.; her parents, Bertie Bost Abbott and Ben L.
Abbott; one son, Jamie Douglas Palmer, Jr.; two
brothers, Leon Abbott and Johnny Abbott and one sister,
Jessie Henzel.
She was born on July 10, 1912 in Trezevant.
Survivors include one daughter, Sara Dunning of
McKenzie; four grandchildren, Kim Johnsonius, Jamey
Elizabeth Baker, Tony Palmer and Troy Palmer and nine
great-grandchildren.
Karen Jo Cary Sadler
1962-2003
MCKENZIE: Ms. Karen Jo Cary Sadler, 40, died on
Friday, March 7 at her home. Funeral services were
conducted on Sunday, March 9 at 2:30 p.m. at the Calvary
Tabernacle Church in McKenzie with the Rev. Stanley
Medlin and Rev. Dennis Watts officiating. Interment
followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Ms. Sadler was born on September 11, 1962 in Milan. Her
father, Joseph C. Cary preceded her in death. She was an
employee of the Sugar Plum Child Care and a member of
the Calvary Tabernacle Church.
Survivors include her mother, Ethel S. Reaves Cary, one
sister, Teresa Cary; two brothers, Mike Cary and Daniel
Cary, all of McKenzie and two nephews.

William Dale Wilson
1947-2003
HUNTINGDON: Mr. William Dale Wilson, 55, died on
Wednesday, March 5 at the Jackson-Madison County General
Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday,
March 9 at 2;00 p.m. at the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel
with Brother Scott Carter officiating. Interment
followed at Bethel Cemetery.
Mr. Wilson was born on July 7, 1947 in Huntingdon to the
late Francis Dale and Pearl Mae Wiggleton Wilson. He was
a production manager for TWR Service Corp with 30 years
of service and he was also an army veteran.
Survivors include two sons, James Kevin Wilson of Berea,
Kentucky and Daniel Wayne Wilson of Huntingdon; one
sister, Jane Ann Wilson of Florence, Alabama and one

Casual Malcolm Presson
1910-2003
MCKENZIE: Casual Malcolm Presson, 92, formerly of
Huntingdon, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 4 at Life
Care Center in Bruceton where he had been a patient for
the past two months. Funeral services were held on
Saturday, March 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Methodist
Church in Huntingdon with Dr. Mickey R. Carpenter, Dr.
William Bailey, Jr. and Rev. Dossie Wheatley
officiating. Burial followed at Shiloh Cemetery in
McKenzie.
Mr. Presson was born on July 12, 1910 in Vale to the
late Casual “Cas” Hampton and Sarah Adeline “Addie”
Cooper Presson. His five brothers, Felix, Albert,
Crayton, Gilman and Warren and two sisters, Ellen
Mathney and Edna Hill, also preceded him in death.
After attending Murray State, Mr. Presson’s work was
primarily in three areas, teaching in small one-two room
schools in Carroll County, security at the Milan Arsenal
and sales in the insurance industry and with the
Huntingdon Home Improvement Company, from which he
retired in the early 1970’s.
In 1936, he married Butha Catherine Tucker, of Murray,
Kentucky. This union was blessed with the birth of one
daughter, Rebecca Tucker. In 1969, he married Cappie
Wilcox Haynes. Both wives preceded him in death.
Mr. Presson was a member of the Huntingdon Masonic Lodge
and had received his 50-year pin. He was also a member
of the Order of the Eastern Star, Huntingdon Chapter and
had received his 50-year pin from that organization. He
was a member of the First Methodist Church in Huntingdon
and had been a choir member for over 50 years.
In addition to his daughter, Becky Shalley, survivors
include his son-in-law, Jack Shalley of Lee’s Summit,
Missouri; two grandsons and one great-grandson.
