Willodean Virginia Taylor
1930-2003
TREZEVANT: Services for Willodean Virginia Taylor,
72, were Sunday, May 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trezevant
First Baptist Church with Bro. Malcolm Norton
officiating. Burial was in the Trezevant Cemetery.
Miss Taylor, retired teacher at Humboldt High School,
died on Friday, May 2 at McKenzie Regional Hospital from
injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born September 4, 1930 in Carroll County to the
late Myrtle Murray Taylor and Alfred F. Taylor. She was
a member of the First Baptist Church in Trezevant and
Kappa Gamma Delta.
Survivors include a nephew, Matthew Alfred Taylor of
Trezevant and several cousins. She was preceded in death
by a brother, Amos Alfred Taylor and a sister, Juanita
Taylor.Hulon Thompson Black
1913-2003
MCKENZIE: Services for Hulon Thompson Black, 89,
were at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 6 at Brummitt Funeral
Home with Rev. Harrell Nation officiating. Burial was in
Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mr. Black, a farmer, died on Sunday, May 4 in Sardis,
Mississippi.
He was born September 24, 1913 in McKenzie to the late
Grace Edith Thompson Black and Bishop Marvin Black. He
was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a
World War II army veteran.
Survivors include a son, Larry Black of Senatobia,
Mississippi; a daughter, Janie Chandler of Brownsville;
four grandchildren, Robyn Black Caldwell, Eddie
Chandler, Jennifer Black Davis and Christie Bradshaw;
two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and
three step-great-grandchildren.
Billy Joe Autry
1948-2003
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Billy Joe Autry, 54, died on Monday,
April 28 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, April 30
at 11:00 a.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment followed at Davis Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Autry was born on September 26, 1948 to the late
Clyde and Hazel Carey Autry in Carroll County. He was a
self-employed roofer.
Survivors include one daughter, Amanda Autry of Parkers
Crossroads; four sisters, Faye Ellis of Huntingdon; Sue
Frazee and Patricia Taylor, both of Camden and Shirley
Altom of Parkers Crossroads; one brother, Bobby Autry of
Camden and one grandson.
Feron Bledsoe, Jr.
1934-2003
MCKENZIE: Services for Mr. Feron Bledsoe, Jr., 68,
were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 3 at the Greater Enon
Baptist Church with the Rev. James H. Stewart
officiating. Burial was in the Humbles Cemetery in
Huntingdon.
Mr. Bledsoe died on Wednesday, April 30 at his
residence. He was born on December 6, 1934 in Huntingdon
to the late Feron Bledsoe, Sr. and Alma Caldwell
Bledsoe. He was a member of the Greater Enon Baptist
Church where he served as a former Sunday School
Superintendent and on the Usher’s Board.
Survivors include his wife, Marva Bell Bledsoe; two
daughters, Angela Bledsoe of Washington DC and Kimberly
Bell Stewart of McKenzie; three sons, Anthony Bledsoe of
Clifton, Maryland, Rodney Adkisson and Randall Adkisson,
both of McKenzie; three sisters, Juanita Irby of
Chicago, Illinois, Inez Vicks of Evansville, Indiana and
Era Smith of Jacksonville, Florida and six
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and five
brothers.
Trinity Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Bonnie E. Crutchfield
1933-2003
DECATUR: Bonnie E. Crutchfield, 70, died on
Thursday, May 1 in her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services were at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 3 at
J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Additional services were
held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 5 at Chase Funeral Home
in Huntingdon. Burial was in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Lighthouse United
Pentecostal Church in Decatur.
Bonnie was born in a log cabin in Carroll County near
Huntingdon on January 4, 1933, the daughter of Muncie
Lee and Maggie Loraine Mann Bell. She was a homemaker
and a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse United
Pentecostal Church. One of Bonnie’s greatest
achievements was that both of her sons have answered a
call to the ministry. On March 27, 1954, Bonnie married
Marshall E. Crutchfield in Corinth, Mississippi and he
preceded her in death on June 4, 1994.
Surviving are her two sons, Morris Crutchfield of
Decatur and Timothy Crutchfield of Hammond, Indiana;
three brothers, William Bell of Camden, Muncie Lee Bell,
Jr. of Knoxville, Joe Bell of Camden; two sisters,
Virginia Roark of Milan and Marilyn Reynolds of Paris;
seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and several
nieces and nephews.
Her parents and a sister, Maxine also preceded her in
death.
Emma Lou Steward
1914-2003
ATWOOD: Services for Emma Lou Steward, 90, were at
2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 1 at St. John I Baptist Church.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Ms. Steward, a homemaker, died on Monday evening, April
28 at the Milan General Hospital.
Survivors include four daughters, Clymontine Bell,
Josephine Williams, Patricia Ann Madison and Mary
Christine; six sons, Winford Steward, Jr., Michael
Steward, Levander Steward and Curtis Steward.
Mercer Brothers Funeral Home in Jackson was in charge of
the arrangements.
Andy D. Tucker
1982-2003
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Andy D. Tucker, 20, died on
Thursday, May 1 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, May 5 at1:00
p.m. at the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne
Holmes officiating. Interment followed in the Palmer
Shelter Cemetery.
Mr. Tucker was born on June 22, 1982 in Huntingdon. He
was a production worker for Behlen Manufacturing,
graduated from Clarksburg High School in 2000 and was
attending the Tennessee Technology Center in McKenzie.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Betty and
David Sublett; his father and stepmother, Roger and
Janie Tucker; maternal grandparents, Hubert and Jean
Davidson; paternal grandparents, Edward and Carry
Tucker; maternal great-grandfather, Melty Davidson; one
brother, Eddie B. Tucker, all of Huntingdon; three
stepsisters, Emily Sublett of McKenzie, Candace Taylor
of Lexington and Holly Olivio of Huntingdon.
Ryan Scott Cowan
1994-2003
Ryan Scott Cowan, age 8, was killed Sunday, May 4 from
injuries sustained in the tornado that hit the Denmark
Community near Jackson. Also killed in the tornado was
his stepmother, Connie Cowan. Ryan’s body was recovered
late Monday afternoon.
Ryan was born December 9, 1994 and was the son of Robin
Gibson, formerly of McKenzie and Chris and Connie Cowan
of Denmark. He was the grandson of Deborah Carroll-Brimm
and John Brian of McKenzie and Lowell and Peggy Gibson
of Paris.
Funeral services were incomplete at press-time. George
Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Jackson is in charge of the
