Bonnie Lee Moore Crocker
1918-2003
TREZEVANT: Funeral services for Bonnie Lee Moore
Crocker, 85, were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday,
October 9 at Hopewell Baptist Church in Lavinia with
burial in the church cemetery. She was a resident of the
Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation for the past three
years.
She was born in Huntingdon Beach, California on March
20, 1918 to the late John Sargent Moore and Ruby Cleo
Leach Moore. She was one of ten children and one of
three who were born in California before the family
returned to their home in Carroll County.
She married James William Crocker, who preceded her in
death, in Atwood August 3, 1935. She was also preceded
in death by one daughter, Trelba Bennet, a son, William;
three brothers, John Curtis Moore, Daniel Cleo Moore and
George Ray Moore and two sisters, Mary Merle Moore
Dunlap and Elizabeth Caroline Moore.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Mitchell of
Hackleburg, Alabama and Kay VanDerRoest of Trezevant;
one son, Jim Crocker of Lawton, Michigan; one brother,
Robert Ralph Moore of Huntingdon; three sisters,
Ellawayne Fischer of Lacey, Washington, Lois Lusk of
Milan and Maxine Price of Milan; six grandchildren and
four great-granddaughters.
Brummitt Funeral Home in Trezevant was in charge of the
arrangements.
Basil Ray Roney
1924-2003
GLEASON: Services for Basil Ray Roney, 78, were held at
2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9 at Gallimore Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Auvenshine officiating.
Interment followed in the Hopewell Cemetery.
Mr. Roney, a retired carpenter, died on Tuesday, October
7 at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
He was born on October 29, 1924 in Gleason to the late
Charles Hatler and Lucinda Tilley Roney. He was also
preceded in death by one daughter, Kay Roney Sanders;
two sisters, Ruby Lee Cooper and Blanche Hodges Moore;
one brother, Henry Roney and two half-brothers, Velmont
Roney and Dudley Roney.
Survivors include his wife, Delma Oliver Roney; one son,
Danny Roney of Gleason, one stepson, Robert Adams of
Sharon; two stepdaughters, Lucille Smith of Utica,
Kentucky and Reba Callins of Greenfield; three sisters,
Edna Tilley and Ruth Jackson, both of Dresden and Luree
Grissom of Carnel, Indiana; 10 grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
David Leon Futrell
1955-2003
CEDAR GROVE: Mr. David Leon Futrell, 48, died Thursday,
October 9 at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke,
Virginia. Funeral services were conducted on Monday,
October 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel
with Bro. Bobby Ivy officiating. Interment followed in
the Chapel Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Futrell was born July 9, 1955 in McKenzie. He was a
truck driver for the U.S. Express Trucking Company and a
Vietnam army veteran. He was preceded in death by his
father, William Futrell, one brother, Glen Futrell and
his stepfather, Shelby Andrews.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Andrews of Hollow
Rock; his fiancée, Diana Dellinger of Cedar Grove; one
daughter, Angela Dawn Hunter of Wisconsin; two sisters,
Nyla Stolte of Winfield, Illinois and Cindy Futrell of
Huntingdon and several aunts, uncles, nieces and
nephews.
Charles Edward Carey
1935-2003
HUMBOLDT: Services for Charles Edward Carey, 68, were at
2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 14 at Brummitt Funeral Home.
Burial was in the Everett’s Chapel Cemetery in McKenzie.
Mr. Carey, a truck driver, died on Saturday, October 11
at his residence.
He was born March 17, 1935 in Westport. He was an army
veteran.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Laudermilk of
Humboldt and Ramonica Jackson of Somerville; his mother,
Lillian Blount Carey of McKenzie; a sister, Ethel Lee
Hampton of McKenzie; three grandchildren, Luke
Laudermilk, Dakota Jackson and Dillion Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Addie Lee Carey.
John B. Stayton
1918-2003
FULTON, KENTUCKY: Services for John B. Stayton will be
at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 15 at Cayce United
Methodist Church in Cayce, Kentucky, with Rev. Ann
Bledsoe officiating. Burial will follow in the Cayce
Cemetery.
Mr. Stayton died on Sunday, October 12 at Parkway
Regional Hospital. He was an U.S. Army veteran, serving
in World War II where he was the youngest First Sergeant
and was wounded in France. He was a member of the
Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion and the
V.F.W. in Union City. He received the Bronze Star and
Purple Heart, the Combat Infantry Badge and
Sharpshooter’s Medal for his military service. He was
also a member of the Cayce United Methodist Church where
he was a former Sunday School teacher. He loved to fish
and lived most of his life in the Cayce area.
He was born January 4, 1918 in Lawrence County, Arkansas
to the late Thomas Albert Stayton and Mary Elizabeth
Graddy Fleener Stayton. Also preceding him in death were
his wife, Helen Ruth Cruce Stayton; a brother, Sylvestor
Stayton and a half sister, Audrey Fleener.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Cruce Stayton of
Hickman, Kentucky and Thomas Leroy Stayton of Gunnison,
Colorado; one daughter, Marie Vonceil Leyhue of
McKenzie; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;
one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Carmmal Fry of
Michigan City, Indiana and Sarah Adaline Draper of
Glendale, Arizona and a brother, Albert Junior Stayton
of Houston, Texas.
Hazel H. Pickler
1921-2003
BRUCETON: Services for Hazel H. Pickler, 82, will be at
2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 15 in the Bruceton Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. James Daniel and Rev. Terry
Bradshaw officiating. Interment will follow in the
Bethlehem Cemetery near Rosser.
Mrs. Pickler died at her home on Saturday, October 11.
She was a retired operator for Henry I. Siegel, Co. in
Bruceton.
She was born on March 20, 1921 in Beattyville, Kentucky
to the late Oscar Orville Harris, Sr. and Mary Bell
Daughtery Harris. He was a member of the Prospect
Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star #180 and
the Bruceton Lions Club. She was also preceded in death
by a daughter, Juanita Bain.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Pickler of
Bruceton; one daughter, Sandra Bain Jowers of Lexington;
one stepdaughter, Vickie Adams of Lancaster, South
Carolina; five sons, Jimmy Allen of Houston and Daryl
Allen, Arthur Bain, Juan Bain and Donald Bain, all of
Lexington; two brothers, Eugene Harris of Detroit,
Michigan and E.B. Harris of Atlanta, Georgia; 12
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
