Ruth Morelle Wade Barham
1945-2003
GLEASON: Services for Ruth Morelle Wade Barham, 57,
were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 27 at
Beech Springs Baptist Church in Gleason where she was a
member. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in
McKenzie.
Mrs. Barham, a native of Henry County, died on Monday,
August 25 at Jackson-Madison County General after a
lengthy illness. She was born on October 13, 1945, a
daughter of Ercell Wade of Whitlock and the late Milton
Wade and was married to Clarence D. Barham, Jr., who
survives.
A 1963 graduate of Puryear High School, she also leaves
two daughters, Connie Pearce of Murfreesboro and Gina
Butler of Huntingdon; one son, Danny Barham of Camden;
one sister, Rosemary Hearnsberger of Murfreesboro; two
brothers, Freddie Wade and Buddy Wade, both of Whitlock
and seven grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Joe
Arliss Wade.
Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
John Lloyd Burkhalter
1948-2003
HUNTINGDON: Mr. John Lloyd Burkhalter, 54, died on
Tuesday, August 26 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in
Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Friday,
August 29 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel
with Bro. William P. Bailey Jr. officiating. A private
memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Burkhalter was born on September 26, 1948 in Monroe
County, Wisconsin. He was the owner and operator of the
J&B Mobile Home Park in Huntingdon. He was preceded
in death by one sister, Linda Rhodes and one brother,
Tommy Burkhalter.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Walls Burkhalter, his
father and mother, Lloyd and Helen Burkhalter of Arena,
Wisconsin; one daughter, Amy Keating of Waynesboro; one
son, Albert Burkhalter of Huntingdon; two sisters, Tammy
Limmex of Spring Green, Wisconsin and Debbie Ahrens of
Appleton, Wisconsin; three brothers, Robert Burkhalter
of Tempe, Arizona and David Burkhalter and Tim
Burkhalter, both of Spring Green, Wisconsin and six
grandchildren.
Rev. Walter Andrew Bryant,
Sr.
1926-2003
ATWOOD: Services for Rev. Walter Andrew Bryant, Sr.,
77, were Sunday, August 31 at 4:00 p.m. at the Obion
River District Associate Headquarters in McKenzie.
Interment followed in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Atwood.
Rev. Bryant died on Thursday, August 28 at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Rogers
Bryant; three daughters, Maggie Walker, Gertrude
Williams and Naomi Walden; four sons, Rev. Walter A.
Bryant, Jr., Rev. John Wade Bryant, Ellis C. Bryant and
Samuel C. Bryant; and one sister, Bettie Kirby; and four
brothers, John W. Bryant, Luther B. Bryant, William
Bryant and Lorenzo Bryant.
Mercer Brothers Funeral Home in Jackson was in charge of
the arrangements.
Mary Trammell Milligan
1935-2003
TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA: Mary Trammell Milligan, 68,
formerly of McKenzie, died Thursday, Aug. 28 following a
long illness.
Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31
at Rock Hill Community Cemetery near Lexington.
Milligan might be best remembered from her role as Mrs.
Santa Claus in McKenzie during the late 1970s and early
1980s. She and her husband Bob Trammell, a former radio
personality for WKTA, assumed the role as Mr. and Mrs.
Santa Claus during the holidays at local department
stores.
Trammell died in December of 1990.
She also was preceded in death by her second husband,
Gene Milligan, of Tuscaloosa.
Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Trammell Kizer of
Tuscaloosa; three grandsons, Dustin Kizer, Rob Kizer and
Cody Kizer, all of Tuscaloosa; two brothers, Don Kuyer
of Oregon and Neil Kuyer of Florida; two sisters, Irene
Weber of Minnesota and Dorothy Nelson of Colorado.
Amos Milford Warman, Jr.
1920-2003
MCKENZIE: Funeral services for Amos Milford Warman,
Jr., 83, were Sunday, August 31 at 2:00 p.m. in the
Cedar Avenue Chapel of the McKenzie Funeral Home with
Reverends Donald Doster and Bob Conley officiating.
Burial followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McKenzie.
Mr. Warman, a retired dairy farmer and deacon at the
Union Grove Baptist Church, died Friday, August 29 at
the Regional Hospital in Jackson.
He was born in 1920 to the late Amos Milford Warman, Sr.
and Alma Overall Warman.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Cooper Warman; two
daughters, Betty Merritt of Atwood and Tony Brush of
McKenzie; two sons, Ronny Warman and Bobby Warman, both
of McKenzie; three sisters, Yvonne Smith and Marilyn
Rawdon, both of Memphis and Margaret Trout of Knoxville
and several grandchildren.
Irene Bartholomew Jones
1921-2003
MCKENZIE: Services for Irene Bartholomew Jones, 82,
were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 1 at Bodkin Funeral
Home. Burial was in the Pisgah Cemetery in Atwood.
Mrs. Jones, a homemaker, died on Sunday, August 31 at
Humboldt General Hospital. She was a member of the First
Baptist Church in McKenzie.
She was the widow of W. Marvin Jones.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Hollowell of
McKenzie and Judy Bates of Humboldt; four sisters,
Thelma Staton of Athens, Alabama, Peggy Smith of
Dresden, Pat Pierce of Trezevant and Christine Fly of
Humboldt; seven grandchildren and 18
great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be directed to the First
Baptist Church in McKenzie to the van or youth fund.
Annette Lynn Pappas
1963-2003
MCKENZIE: Annette Lynn Pappas died on Saturday,
August 30 at the Jackson-Madison County General
Hospital. Services will be at a later date.
Ms. Pappas, who was disabled, was born on April 21, 1963
in Hazel Crest, Illinois to Stella Zell of McKenzie and
Harry Nick Pappas of Illinois, both of whom survive.
Survivors also include one son, Donald Wooldrige of
Illoinis; one daughter, Tammy Wooldridge of Illinois;
three brothers, Walter Pappas of Flambeau, Wisconsin,
Charles Pappas of West Virginia and Dewayne Zell of
McKenzie; and one sister, Tina Pappa of McKenzie.
Brummitt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Paul I. Pritchard
1916-2003
MCKENZIE: Services for Paul I. Pritchard, 86, were
on Saturday, August 30 at Brummitt Funeral Home with
Bro. Dennis Beal and Bro. Jim Roberts officiating.
Interment followed at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in
McKenzie.
Mr. Pritchard, a retired foreman for Gaines M.F.G., died
on Thursday, August 28 at Jackson Regional Hospital.
He was born October 10, 1916 in Sugar Tree to the late
Della Taylor Pritchard and George Pritchard. He was also
preceded in death by his wife, Louise Pritchard.
He was a member of the McKenzie Church of Christ and was
a World War II army veteran.
Survivors include one son, Don Pritchard of Memphis, one
daughter, Linda (Gene) Spain of Gleason; one sister,
Minnie Williams of Huntingdon; two grandchildren, Mike
Spain and Mark (Stacy)
Spain and one great-grandchild, Allyson Spain.
Lonnie C. Carr
1947-2003
MCKENZIE: Services for Lonnie C. Carr, 56, will be
on Wednesday, September 3 at 2:00 p.m. at the McKenzie
Church of God with Bro. Clarence Depew officiating. The
body will be cremated.
Mr. Carr, a machine operator for Cutright Woodworks in
McKenzie, died on Sunday, August 31 at McKenzie Regional
Hospital.
He was born on February 13, 1947 to Jewel Hackett Carr
and Henry Carr of Hendersonville, who survive. He was a
member of the McKenzie Church of God and a Vietnam U.S.
Army veteran.
Survivors also include his wife, Nina Williams Car, one
son, Terry Bess of Dyer, Indiana; two daughters, Darlene
Bess and Donna Bess, both of Nashville; one brother,
Michael Carr of Galatin; four grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the McKenzie Church of God or
the American Cancer Society. Brummitt Funeral Home was
in charge of the arrangements.
