V.E. "Bud" Adams
1930-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Virl Emerson "Bud" Adams, 73, passed
away on Tuesday, March 30 at the Baptist Memorial
Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted
on Friday, April 2 at the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with
Bro. Bill Crossno officiating. Interment followed in the
Sellers Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Adams was born September 6, 1930 in Portageville,
Missouri to the late Virl Emerson and Gladys Cranford
Adams. He was a retired switchman operator for the
railroad company and was baptized in the Baptist Church.
He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Eta
Adams; one daughter, Terry Adams; two sisters, Louise
Butler and Annie Mae Stewart and one brother, Billy Gene
Adams.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Emma Lou Adams;
one son, Jerry Adams of Huntingdon; two sisters, Lilly
Tolbert of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Gloria Adams of
Portageville, Missouri; two brothers, Connie Adams of
Greenville, North Carolina and James Adams of Claremore,
Oklahoma; two stepbrothers, Junior Gremard of California
and Ervin Gremard of Portageville, Missouri and two
grandsons.
Lloyd Dudley "Dudd" Featherstone
1917-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Lloyd Dudley "Dudd"
Featherstone, 87, were at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 5 at
McKenzie Church of Christ with Bro. Jim Roberts and Bro.
John Forgy officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet
Cemetery.
Mr. Featherstone, retired custodian for the post office,
died on Friday, April 2 at Jackson-Madison County
General Hospital.
He was born February 21, 1917 in McKenzie to the late
Artie Mae Matheny Featherstone and Claude Cleveland
Featherstone. He was a member of the Church of Christ,
American Legion and was a World War II army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Moore Featherstone
of McKenzie; a stepson, William Thomas Ipock of
Oceanside, California; a stepdaughter, Mary Jane
Schubert of Greensboro, North Caroline; a brother, Paul
Featherstone of McKenzie; five grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond
Featherstone and two sisters, Wilma Bell Blackburn and
Mildred Winston.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
James Hornbeck
1921-2004
CEDAR GROVE: Services for James Hornbeck, 82, were
held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 2 at Reed's Chapel in
Lexington with Rev. Phil Mitchell officiating. Burial
was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Hornbeck died on Wednesday, March 31 at Decatur
County Hospital.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Evans of Cedar
Grove; two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Oscar Howard Morris
1924-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Oscar Howard Morris, 80, were
at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 6 at First United
Methodist Church in McKenzie with Rev. Harrell Nation
officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in
McKenzie.
Mr. Morris, retired owner of Morris Carpet, died on
Saturday, April 3 at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
He was born March 4, 1924 in Atwood to the late Mattie
Churchwell Morris and Joseph Dempsey Morris. He was a
member of the First United Methodist Church, retired
major in the National Guard, a World War II army
veteran, a Mason, a Shriner, and member of both the VFW
and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Maurine C. Morris; a
daughter, Diana Crawford of McKenzie; a brother, Joe
Morris of Nashville; three sisters, Lucille Milam of
McKenzie, and Helen Gregory and Linda Richmond, both of
Memphis; and one granddaughter, Jessica Crawford. He was
preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Sue Morris.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Samual C. Moore
1943-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Samual C. Moore were held at
2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 3 at McKenzie Funeral Home
with the Revs. Kenny Carr, Dennis Trull and J.C.
Popplewell officiating. Burial followed in McBride
Cemetery.
Mr. Moore was born February 28, 1943 to the late Virgil
and Bonnie Moore. He married Nancy Barton who survives.
Samual was an employee of A & W Leasing Corporation
where he was a construction worker.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons,
Anthony Moore and his wife, Karen and Wayne and his
wife, April of McKenzie; one daughter, Marshal and her
fiancé, Mark Walker of McKenzie; five grandchildren,
Amber, Amy, and Mattie Moore and Aaron and Samantha
Floyd; five brothers, Neese Moore of Humboldt, J.E.
Moore of McKenzie, Coy Moore of Huntingdon, Mack Moore
of St. Charles, Missouri and Rodney Moore of Westport;
four sisters, Corinne Moore of Selmer, Guinne Ogle of
Henderson, Kentucky, Lula Mar Adams of Wildersville and
Ruth Helen Parker of McKenzie. He was preceded in death
by two sisters, Dora Lee Beal and June McGee and an aunt
who he cared for, Olive Moore of McKenzie.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in McKenzie
and the Macedonia Volunteer Fire Department.
Roy W. Kelley
1928-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Roy W. Kelley, 75, died on Thursday,
April 1 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Services were conducted on Saturday, April 3 at 11:00
a.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Tim
Parrish and Bro. Bill Goodpasture officiating. Interment
followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Kelley was born December 2, 1928 in Carroll County
to the late Clyde Bryan and Mable Wiles Kelley. He was a
retired employee of Turner Dairy; a member of Holladay
Chapel Church of Christ and an army veteran. He was
preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Kelley and two
sisters, Dorothy Hampton and Dorothea Kelley.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mrs. Sharon
Johnson Kelley; a daughter, Karen Carter of Huntingdon;
two sons, Jeff Kelley of Dresden and Brian Kelley of
Huntingdon; one sister, Ivy Altom of Nashville; and six

Gary D. Osborn
1943-2004
SPRINGVILLE: Retired machinist and former Paris
Landing trading post owner Gary Dean Osborn, 61, was
dead on arrival Tuesday, March 30 at Henry County
Medical Center. The body was to be cremated.
A memorial service was held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday,
April 1 at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Larry Dukes
officiating.
Born February 27, 1943 in Glasgow, West Virginia, he was
a son of Lenora Duffield Burton of Springville and the
late Hillard Osborne.
He retired as a tool and die worker after 20 years in
Illinois and Colorado. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a
member of the American Legion and AMVETS.
In addition to his mother, he leaves a daughter, Sara
Lampkins of Antioch; one son, Gary Osborne of
Springville; four sisters, Patricia Mayer and Bobbie
Wiginton, both of Springville, Betty Collins of Dresden
and Linda Bannon of Colorado; two brothers, Rick Burton
of Henry and Mike Burton of Paris; one grandchild; his
former wife and mother of his children, Kathy Trevarton
of St. Joe, Arkansas.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Heather
Osborne and his stepfather, James Burton.
Bobby David Vinson
1943-2004
MCLEMORESVILLE: Services for Bobby David Vinson, 61,
were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 4 at First United
Methodist Church in McLemoresville with Jim Bittner and
Tommie Martin officiating. Burial followed in
McLemoresville Cemetery.
Mr. Vinson, a factory worker, died Friday, April 2 at
his residence in McLemoresville.
He was born January 12, 1943 in McLemoresville, son of
the late David Arvis and Loris Geneva Parham Vinson. He
was a member of the First United Methodist Church in
McLemoresville.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Vinson; a daughter,
Stephanie Ann Vinson Houston; a granddaughter, Alexis
Paige Houston and a sister, Jo Ann Mann, all of
McLemoresville.

Rev. Larry Dean Pinson
1933-2004
MILAN: Rev. Larry Dean Pinson, 70, died on Friday,
April 2 at his home. Funeral services were conducted on
Sunday, April 4 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home
Chapel with Brother Jeff Lankford and Brother Ron Corder
officiating.
Rev. Pinson was born April 15, 1933 in Carroll County to
the late G.L. and Lela Turner. He was pastor of the
Bethel Baptist Church in Milan and an army veteran. He
was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Marie Pinson.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mrs. Bobbie Sue
Newman Pinson; three daughters, Cynthia Rose and Candace
Morris, both of Dyersburg and Heather Millmeyer of
Milan; three sons, Greg Pinson of Murfreesboro, Brian
Pinson of Paris and Stephen Pinson of Columbia; three
brothers, Lee Pinson of Rockford, Illinois, Ernest
Pinson of Mesa Arizona, and Troy Pinson of Fall Branch;
14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Richard Anthony "Rick" Schweitzer
1950-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Richard Anthony "Rick"
Schweitzer were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 6 at the
Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home with the
Rev. Harrell Nation officiating. Burial was in Mt.
Olivet Cemetery.
Mr. Schweitzer, director of commercial development with
Martin Marietta (army), died Sunday, April 4 at Henry
County Medical Center in Paris.
He was born June 30, 1950 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio to the
late Norbert and Dorothy Kopp Schweitzer. He was a
member of the First United Methodist Church in McKenzie
and a veteran of the Viet Nam War. He was also a retired
sergeant first class with the Tennessee Army National
Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Jan Chester Schweitzer; a
daughter, Evan Hudgins of McKenzie and three sons, Scott
Schweitzer, Kelsey Schweitzer and Chance Hudgins, all of
McKenzie.
Myra Elizabeth Wilkes
1937-2004
YUMA: Mrs. Myra Elizabeth Wilkes, 67, passed away on
Tuesday, March 30 at the Vanderbilt University Medical
Center in Nashville. Funeral services were conducted on
Saturday, April 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the New Hope
Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Robert Simmons
officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Wilkes was born February 26, 1937 in Yuma to the
late Commodore and Elva Gooch Enochs. She was a waitress
for Steins Restaurant and occasionally attended the
Clarksburg Missionary Baptist Church. She was also
preceded in death by one son, Mark Wilkes.
Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Herald of
Warrior, Alabama; two sons, Jim Wilkes and Miles Wilkes,
both of Yuma; two sisters, Linda Hester of Hermitage and
Charlene Carter of Yuma; nine grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren. |
