Jennie Louise Spires Brown
1913-2004
GLEASON: Services for Jennie Louise Spires Brown,
91, were at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, August 12 at Gallimore
Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenny Carr officiating.
Interment followed in Chesser Cemetery in Centerville.
Mrs. Brown, a homemaker, died on Monday, August 9 at Oak
Manor Nursing Home in McKenzie.
She was born January 18, 1913 in McEwen to the late Will
and Vonnie King Stewart. She was a member of the Gleason
First Baptist Church
Survivors include three brothers, J.L. Stewart and Troy
Stewart, both of Ashland City and Roy Stewart of
Centerville; two sisters, Dorothy Burracker of Luray,
Virginia and Mary Willis of Centerville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery Spires.
James Cleavie Davis
1921-2004
HUNTINGDON: Services for James Cleavie Davis, 83,
were conducted on Monday, August 23 at 3:00 p.m. at the
Concord Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Rufus
Chandler and Bro. Derrick Jowers officiating. Interment
followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Davis died on Saturday, August 21 at Baptist
Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
He was born May 27, 1921 in Henderson County to the late
Will and Fannie Shackleford Davis. He was a retired
carpenter and a deacon of the Concord Missionary Baptist
Church. He was also preceded in death by four brothers,
Ethridge Davis, Claudie Davis, Fred Davis and Coy Davis.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ruth Simpson
Davis; two daughters, Shirley Capps of Lexington and
Becky Floyd of Westport; one son, Stephen Davis of
Huntingdon; one sister, Estelee Scott of Lexington;
eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Judy Grande
1950-2004
PARIS: Services for Judy Kay Grande, 54, were held
on Thursday, August 19 at Ridgeway Funeral Home with
Billy Hutchens, her brother-in-law officiating.
Interment followed in the Glisson Cemetery in Como.
Mrs. Grande, a restaurant cook, died of cancer Monday,
August 16 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
She was born January 18, 1950 in Chicago to the late
Williams Buford Branon Sr. and Katie Lou Phillips Branon.
Survivors include her husband, Steven D. "Steve" Grande,
Sr.; four sons, Anthony W., Barton D. and Patrick F.
Grande, all of Henry and Steven D. Grande, Jr. of Paris;
five sisters, Jackie Hutchens and Cathy Lowe, both of
Paris; Debbie Towarnicki and Carol Giardino both of
Hanover Park, Illinois and Cindy Leyva of Schaumburg,
Illinois; two brothers, John Branon of Huntingdon and
Charles Branon of Suprise, Arizona; one sister-in-law,
Lorainne Grande of Henry and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Dale
Branon, James Michael Branon and William Buford Branon,
Jr.
Elois H. Holt
1917-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Elois H. Holt, 87, were at
2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 19 at McKenzie Funeral Home
with the Revs. Vance Rushing and Paul Conquest
officiating. Interment followed in Pilgrim's Rest
Cemetery in Christmasville.
Mrs. Holt, a homemaker, died on Monday, August 16 at
McKenzie Health Care Center.
She was born February 20, 1917 in Gleason to the late
Verna Wiseman Wray and Bride Wray. She was a member of
Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, James T. Holt; a
daughter, Brenda Norwood of McKenzie; a son, Jimmy Holt
of McKenzie; a brother, Gale Wray of Tampa, Florida;
four grandchildren, Randy Norwood, Matthew Holt and
Mallary Holt, all of McKenzie and Karen Bookout of
Milan.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice
Stafford.
Opal Louise Horton
1915-2004
BUENA VISTA: Services for Opal Louise Horton, 89,
were held at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with Ted
Gentle officiating. Interment followed in Prospect
Cemetery in Hollow Rock.
Mrs. Horton died Thursday, August 19 at Life Care Center
in Bruceton.
She was born on September 2, 1915 in Texas to the late
Augusta Russell Ivey and Emma Raines Ivy. She was a
member of the Bruceton Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Elree Horton; five
daughters, Ivey Elrod of Buena Vista, Nancy Dorobiala of
Huntingdon, Kathy Ann Horton of Memphis, Becky Todd of
Trezevant, and Betty Baggett of Waverly; one brother,
Fred Ivey of Hemet, California; nine grandchildren and
four great-grandchildren.
Lucille Holt Linville
1918-2004
STUTTGART, ARKANSAS: Services for Lucille Linville,
86, were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 16 at
Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial was at
Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Christmasville.
Mrs. Linville, a retired homemaker, died on Friday,
August 13, in Stuttgart Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and
Nettie Holt of Greenfield; three sisters, Mary Frances,
Jewell and Nell; five children, Betty Katherine, Marilyn
Sue, Diane, Hulon and Bobby Green.
Survivors include her husband, Lenoard Linville and
three brothers, Felix Holt of Bradford, Texas, Joe Henry
Holt of McKenzie and Edsel Holt of Greenfield; 10
grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Robert Harrison "Bobby" Selph
1946-2004
BUENA VISTA: Funeral services for Robert Harrison
"Bobby" Selph, 57, were conducted on Tuesday, August 24
at 1:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro.
Billy Ray Barnett officiating. Interment followed in the
McAuley Cemetery.
Mr. Harrison, a retired first mate on a barge for the
Peabody Coal Company, died Saturday, August 21 at
Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was preceded
in death by his father, Earlie Harrison Selph.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Peggy Kirby
Selph; his mother, Lillian Louise Selph of Buena Vista;
one daughter, Cindy Forrest of Huntingdon; one son,
James Robert Selph of Bruceton; two brothers, Gary Selph
of Huntingdon and Earlie Selph of Buena Vista and two
granddaughters.
James Wesley Starks
1923-2004
GLEASON: Services for James Wesley Starks, 81, were
at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 11 at First Baptist
Church in Gleason with the Revs. Keith Sumner and
Raymond Carneal officiating. Interment was in Murray
Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Starks, a retired truck driver, died Monday, August
9 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was born June 24, 1923 in Murray, Kentucky to the
late George and Ola Strader Starks. He was a member of
the Gleason First Baptist Church and a World War II
veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Winchester Starks; a
son, Steve Starks of Paris; two daughters, Martha
Stewart of Paris and Becky Hames of Gleason; a brother,
Jack Starks of Hazel, Kentucky; a sister, Pearl Turpin
of Murray, Kentucky; seven grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.
Lillie Mae Woodard
1925-2004
CRAWFORDVILLE, FLORIDA: Graveside services for
Lillie Mae Woodard, 79, were conducted on Thursday,
August 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with
Brother Wayne Burton officiating.
Mrs. Woodard died on Saturday, August 14 at the Eden
Springs Nursing Home.
She was born February 4, 1925 in Hardeman County to the
late Andrew S. and Theadosia D. Everett Forsyth. She was
a self-employed beautician. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Loyd T. Woodard; a son, Lloyd Morris
Woodard; two brothers, Lawrence W. Forsyth and John T.
Forsyth; three sisters, Ada V. Boyd, Rachel Mae Wilbanks
and Loreine Forsyth.
Survivors include one son, James Woodard of
Crawfordville, Florida and a sister, Mary Vales of Toone.

Charles Enoch Nunnery
1938-2004
LEBANON: Graveside services for Charles Enoch
Nunnery, 66, formerly of Gleason, were at 2:00 p.m.
Thursday, August 5 at Hopewell Cemetery with the Rev.
Vance Rushing officiating.
Mr. Nunnery, a retired maintenance employee, died
Wednesday, August 4 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
He was born April 30, 1938 in Phillippy to the late
Enoch Jackson Nunnery and Bonnie Lorene Moore Nunnery.
He was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy D. Nunnery of Little
Rock, Arkansas; three daughters, Sherrie Lynn Henry of
Daytona Beach, Florida, Debbie Springer and Karen Burton
of Tennessee; four brothers, Gene Nunnery of McKenzie,
Leo Nunnery of Gleason, Dale Nunnery of Lebanon and Bob
Nunnery of Dresden.
Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
Odie Mason
1923-2004
MILAN: Services for Odie Mason, 81, will be held on
Thursday, August 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Funeral
Home with the Rev. Gene Fowler officiating. Interment
will follow at Cayton Springs Cemetery in Henry. Mr.
Mason was a former resident of Henry.
He died on Monday, August 23 after an extended illness
at Douglas Nursing Home in Milan.
He was born July 29, 1923 in Henry to the late Ella
Fitzgerald Hayes. He was a veteran and a Baptist by
faith.
Survivors include his caregivers, Alra and Cynthia
Williams of McKenzie and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 25 from
6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
