Joe Kenneth Glisson
1935 – 2004
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Joe Glisson, 69, died Friday,
November 26 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton.
Mr. Glisson was born May 21, 1935, in Huntingdon, to the
late William Edward and Lula Gay Smothers Glisson. He
was a retired employee of the Federal Civil Service and
an affiliate of the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian
Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy
Mae Horn and a granddaughter Rachel Leigh Glisson.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beverly Jageman
Glisson, two sons, Steven M. Glisson, of Jonesboro, AR,
David K. Glisson, of Dallas, TX, William Glisson, of
Covington, TN, and two grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Nellie Robinson Brinkley
1918-2004
NEW JOHNSONVILLE: Mrs. Nellie Robinson Brinkley, 86,
died Sunday, November 21 at Life Care Center in
Bruceton.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, November
24, at 2:00 P.M. at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist
Church. She was a retired employee of DuPont and a
member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Mr. Waller
Brinkley, a son, Lewelling Brinkley of Jonesboro, AR,
two sisters, Christine Argo and Euvon Griffin, both of
McKenzie, a brother, Harrel Black, of Mayfield, KY, two
grandchildren, & six great grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Kenneth Ray Eubanks
1934-2004
BRUCETON: Mr. Kenneth Ray Eubanks, 70, died
Wednesday, November 24, at his home.
Memorial services were conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday
November 27, in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home.
Mr. Eubanks was born April 4, 1934, in Westport, to the
late Herman and Eubie Smith Eubanks. He was retired with
31 years of service to the Air Force, a member of the
Masonic Lodge in Bruceton, a Mason, a Shriner, a member
of the Yourk Rite and the Scottish Rite. He was the
veterans administrator of Carroll County for 10 years, a
life member of the VFW, and the American Legion & DAV.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Eubanks.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mrs. Suzanne
Eubanks, a daughter, Diane G. Russell, of Abilene,
Texas, a son, Stephen K. Eubanks, of Plattsmouth,
Nebraska, two sisters, Imogene Ellis of Huntingdon,
Rebecca Hampton, of Beuna Vista, one brother, Bill
Eubanks, of Hollow Rock & 5 grandchildren.
Teressa Pruitt Harshman
1955-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Teressa Pruitt Harshman, 49, died
Wednesday November 24 at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday
November 28, in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home.
Interment followed in the Chapel Hill Cemetery. Brother
Lloyd Rich officiated the service.
Mrs. Harsh was born August 13, 1955, to the late Martha
Louise Elmore. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Harshman of
Huntingdon, two daughters, Judy Pruitt and Linda Pruitt
both of Nashville, one son, Dennis Pruitt of Huntingdon,
one step-son, William “Bill” Scott of Coetwa, OK, two
step-sons, one step-daughter, five grandchildren and one
great-grandson.
Claude (Bob) Matheny
1940-2004
BEUNA VISTA: Mr. Claude (Bob) Matheny, 64, died
Monday November 22, at the Jackson Madison County
General Hospital.
Graveside services were held at McAuley Cemtery in Beuna
Vista.
Mr. Matheny was born March 5, 1940, in Carroll County,
to the late Claude Robert and Hattie Lee Pinkston
Matheny. He was an employee of Terry Trucking and a
member of the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. He was preceded
in death by a brother, Maurice Matheny.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Box Matheny, and a
sister, Linda Sanders, of Camden.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Dorsey T. Vaughn
1927-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Dorsey T. Vaughn, 77, died Saturday,
November 27, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, November 30,
at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home.
Interment followed in the Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Brother J.F. Dancer officiated the services.
Mr. Vaughn was born March 16, 1927, in Ohio to the late
Sam and Eva Stuart Vaughn. He was a World War II Army
veteran and a retired employee of Texagas. He was
preceded in death by his wife, Oma Jean Vaughn, a
daughter, Darnella Gowan, and a brother Don Vaughn.
He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Vaughn of Jackson,
two sons Dorsey T. Vaughn Jr., of Huntingdon, Jeff
Vaughn of Soddy-Daisy, six grandchildren, and nine
great-grandchildren.
Shaun Walker
1986-2004
PARIS: Shop worked Shaun Walker 18, was dead on
arrival Thursday Nov. 25, at Baptist Memorial Hospital
in Huntingdon.
The Funeral was at 2:30 p.m. Saturday November 27 at
Ridgeway Funeral Home. Burial was in Mixie Baptist
Cemetery in Carroll County.
Born Jan. 20, 1986, in Murray, Shaun was son of Gene
Walker of Hollow Rock and Patricia “Patty” Sturm Walker
of Paris.
He worked at Walker’s Machine Shop in Henry. He was a
2004 Henry County High School graduate and a member of
Fairview Baptist Church.
He leaves a brother: Jason Matthew Walker of Paris;
Grandparents: Bobbie and Harry Lee Walker of Paris; Two
great-grandmothers: Iola Walker of Paris and Lorene
Finch of Hollow Rock; and Several aunts, uncles, and
cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents:
Richard and Patricia Sturm.
Virginia Arrington Mayberry
RIDGELY: Services for Virginia Arrington Mayberry,
78, were at 1 P.M. Monday November 29 at First Baptist
Church in Ridgely. Burial was in New Haven Cemetery. J.W.
Curry & Son Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
Mrs. Mayberry, retired manager at Lara Kendall School
Cafeteria, died Saturday November 27 at McKenzie
Healthcare Center.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ridgely.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte McGinnis of
McKenzie & Donna Moore of Ridgely; a sister, Judy Fuqua
of Sharon; a brother, J.C. Arrington of Dyersburg; two
grandchildren & four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Mayberry.

Connie Henry King
CAMDEN: Services for Connie Henry Kind, 63, were at
11 A.M. Friday November 26 at Oakdale Funeral Home
Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Cooper & Bro. Lloyd Rich
officiating. Burial was in Eastview Cemetery.
Mr. King died Tuesday, November 23 at Camden General
Hospital.
He was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church
& an Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Reva King of Bruceton; four
daughters Carol Matlock, Connie Buchanan, Pam Morris &
Lorri Pierce all of Camden; five grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Evie King;
his parents Vernon & Theo Cain King, three brothers T.E.
King, James King and George Ray King.
Samuel B. King
1949-2004
MCKENZIE: Mr. Samuel B. King, 55, died Sunday,
November 28, at the Regional Hospital of Jackson.
Mr. King was born March 5 1949, in Carroll County, to
the late Gussie B. & Lucille Willis King. He was an
employee of Milan Box.
He is survived by a daughter, Julia Johnson, of Jackson,
a son, Jarrod King of Bruceton, six sisters, Ester
Johnson and Lou Gene Brooks, both of McKenzie; Rosie
King, Betty Scott and Forene Barymore, all of
Huntingdon, and Carolyn Vaughn of Rockfort, Il., two
brothers, Jim King of Huntingdon, Presley King of
McKenzie, and a special friend Cynthia Harris of
McKenzie.

Sgt. Finus Edward ‘Ed’ Hudson
1937-2004
PARIS: Retired Tennessee National Guard Master Sgt.
Finus Edward Hudson, 90, died Sunday Nov. 28, at Henry
County Medical Center.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec 1, at
Ridgeway Funeral Home. Fred Shackelford and Bill Hudson
will officiate. Burial will be in VanDyke Grove
Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Born Feb. 18, 1914, in Paris, he was a son of the late
Finus Eli and Bessie Pearl Hudson. He was married on
March 28, 1937, to the former Mildred Ruth Smith, who
died August 17, 1997. Hudson served as an administrative
assistant in the Tennessee National Guard for 21 years
before retiring. A World War II veteran, he was awarded
the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry
Badge. He had been a member of Springhill Baptist Church
since 1949, where he served as a deacon and Sunday
school teacher.
He leaves two sons: Richard Smith “Bill” Hudson of
Paris, who was a member of the Buffalo Bills and served
as vice-principal at Henry County High School, and
Franklin Eugene “Frank” Hudson of Mandeville, LA; eight
grandchildren, including John Hudson who played for the
Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jets; and sixteen
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Pauline W. Cook
and Mary Elizabeth Ennis; one brother, James Douglas
Hudson; and a grandson; Todd Hudson.
Bro. Roger Dale Ellis
1952-2004
BEUNA VISTA: Bro. Roger Dale Ellis, 52, died Sunday
Nov. 28 at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday December
1, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home,
Interment will follow in the McAuley Cemetery. Bro.
Jimmy Stewart, Bro. Marshall Gurley, and Bro. William
Fowler will officiate the service.
The family will receive friends in the Cherry Wood Room
of Chase Funeral Home from 8:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, and from 8:00 a.m. until time of services on
Wednesday.
Mr. Ellis was born February 14, 1952, in Bruceton to the
late Lloyd Ellis and Ruby (Mitchell) Hintz. He was an
assembly worker for Johnson Control in Lexington, a
minister for 24 years until his illness, and a member of
the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Ellis, whom he married
on October 14, 1972; three daughters, April Bradford of
Camden, Robin Finley of Cordova, Holly Ellis of
Huntingdon; one son, Clint Ellis of Buena Vista; one
sister, Debbie Garone of Buena Vista; three brothers,
Eddie Hintz of Colorado, Scott Hintz of Chicago, Il.;
and Danny Ellis of Melbourne, Fla. |
