Jeremy Crossett
1979-2004
JACKSON: Mr. Jeremy Crossett, 24, passed away
Monday, January 5 at the Jackson-Madison County General
Hospital from injuries received in an automobile
accident. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday,
January 8 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel
with Bro. Doug Sellers officiating. Interment followed
in the Liberty All Cemetery.
Mr. Crossett was born September 27, 1979 in Jackson. He
graduated from Huntingdon High School with honors in
1997, worked as a sales representative for Gary Matthews
Autoplex and was a member of the Englewood Baptist
Church in Jackson.
He is survived by one son, Skyler Crossett of Jackson;
his mother and stepfather, Bobbie Jean and David Dowling
of Jackson, his father and stepmother, Jimmy and Leigh
Crossett of Huntingdon; one brother, Jacob Crossett and
one sister, Brittney Bowling, both of Jackson; maternal
grandparents Bobby and Loretta Boyd of Huntingdon and
paternal grandmother, Nancy Crossett Sealy of Paris.
Mary Kathleen Franklin
1915-2004
LEXINGTON: Funeral services for Mary Kathleen
Franklin, 88, were at 3:00 p.m., Monday, January 12 at
the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with William
Jones officiating. Burial was in the Lexington Cemetery.
Mrs. Franklin was preceded in death by her husband,
William T. (W.T.) “Jew” Franklin.
She was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian
Church in Lexington and was a member of the choir for 45
years. She was an elder of the church and was active in
Sunday school and assisted with Vacation Bible School.
She was the owner of the Lexington Progress newspaper in
Lexington and served on its board of directors. She
served as vice-president on the board of directors of
Associated Publishers in Huntingdon.
Survivors include one son, Tom Franklin and his wife,
Donna; three grandchildren, Brad Franklin and wife
Kellye, Brooke and Blake Franklin, all of Lexington.
Reed’s Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
Billy Earl Hunt
1947-2004
DRESDEN: Services for Billy Earl Hunt, 56, were at
2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 13 at Gallimore Funeral Home
Chapel in Gleason with Bro. Kenneth Jesse officiating.
Burial was in Rushing Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Hunt, disabled, died on Saturday, January 10 at the
VA Medical Center in Memphis.
He was born April 9, 1947 in Saltillo, Mississippi.
Survivors include his mother, Patsy Hamilton of Gleason;
three sons, Earl Hunt of Dukedom, Billy Ray Hunt of
Harlen, Georgia, and Eddie Henderson of Memphis; three
daughters, Donna Sawyer and Angela Haddakin, both of
Dresden and Cindy Webb of McKenzie; two brothers, Bobby
Hunt of Paris and Roger Hunt of Celina; three sisters,
Doris Moses and Gloria Lindsey, both of Tupelo,
Mississippi and Debbie Simmons of Dresden and fifteen
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Hunt.
Clayton F. Jones
1939-2004
YUMA: Mr. Clayton F. Jones, 64, died on Thursday,
January 8 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in
Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Monday,
January 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home
Chapel.
Mr. Jones was born November 28, 1939 in Parksburg,
Pennsylvania to the late Walter and Cecialia Jones. He
was an employee of IMS for 33 years, a self-employed
welder for 10 years and a Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Jones; a daughter,
Jennifer Turner of Atglen, Pennsylvania; four sons,
Cacey Jones of Yuma, Bruce Jones of Christiana,
Pennsylvania, Craig Stevens of Longview, Texas and
Daniel Stevens of Yuma; three sisters, Bertha Stetler an
Katherine Jones, both of Coatesville, Pennsylvania and
Helen Jones of Crestview, Florida; three brothers,
Albert Jones of Florida, John Jones of Coatesville,
Pennsylvania and Walter Jones of East Earl,
Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
Mattie Elizabeth Cole King
1924-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Mattie Elizabeth Cole King, 79,
passed away on Wednesday, January 7 at the Huntingdon
Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were
conducted on Friday, January 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chase
Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Doug Sellers officiating.
Interment followed in Carter’s Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. King was born April 24, 1924 in Carroll County to
the late Randolph and Fannie May Sellers Williams. She
was a homemaker and a member of the Independence Full
Gospel Church. She was also preceded in death by her
first husband, John B. Cole, who died in September,
1985, her second husband, Breford King, who died in
December 1994; two stepsons, Bobby King and Dwight King
and three brothers, Arthur Williams, Ray Sellers and
James Monroe Sellers.
Survivors include five sisters, Shelby Laws of Palatine,
Illinois, Mildred Gregg, Dorothy Martin, Gertie Dunn and
Nellie Myers and four brothers, Billy Sellers, Dean
Sellers, Thomas Sellers and George Sellers, all of
Huntingdon; three stepdaughters and one stepson.
Pauline Jordan McKinney
1919-2004
BRUCETON: Funeral services for Mrs. Pauline Jordan
McKinney, 84, were held on Friday, January 9 at the
Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in
Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock.
She was born on December 17, 1919 in Buena Vista to the
late Mr. James Pearlie and Mrs. Era Paralee Higdon
Jordan. She died January 7 at her home. She was a
retired seamstress for H.I.S. Inc. and a member of the
Bruceton First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death
by her first husband, William Delmar Rowland on January
17, 1973 and her second husband, Howard McKinney on
February 9, 1995 and one brother, Loy Jordan. Survivors
include one daughter, Mrs. Judy Young of Mt. Juliet; one
son, William Jerry Rowland of Bruceton; five
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mildred Louise McCormick Mozena
Delray Beach, Florida: Mildred Louise McCormick
Mozena, formerly of Huntingdon and Allen Park, Michigan,
passed away on January 5 at Hospice of the Palm Beaches
after a battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the
late William Clyde and Mildred Aden McCormick. She was
also preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey Michael
Chandler and a brother, Jack McCormick.
Funeral services were held in the Dilday Funeral Home
Chapel on Friday, January 9 with burial in Carroll
Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Mozena was a cosmetologist and taught hairdressing
for many years. She retired in Delray Beach in 1989.
Survivors include her children, Michael Stephen Chandler
of Dearborn, Michigan, Karen Jean Knauff of
Gilbertsville, Kentucky, Kimberly Rae Rezac of Fountain
Valley, California, stepdaughter, Mary Jane Gramley of
Westminster, California; five grandchildren; three
step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one
brother, Ray McCormick of Huntingdon and one sister,
Nancy Calcagno of Miami, Florida.

J.D. Smith
1916-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mr. J.D. Smith, 87, died Monday, January
5 at his home. Funeral services were conducted on
Wednesday, January 7 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral
Home Chapel with Bro. Elmer Thomas officiating.
Interment followed in the Oak Grove Congregational
Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born December 1, 1916 in Huntingdon to the
late Douglas McCall and Cora Weaver Smith. He was a
farmer and a member of the First Pentecostal Church in
Huntingdon. He was preceded in death by his wife,
Dorothy Lucille Smith, who died July 26, 1993, one son,
Darrell Elwyn Smith; two brothers, J.M. Smith and Harlos
Smith; and three sisters, Dorothy Hall, Peggy Smith and
Marie Williams.
Survivors include one daughter, Sarah Carolyn Dyer of
Clarksburg; two sons, John David Smith of Huntingdon and
Randall Douglas Smith of Tupelo, Mississippi; three
sisters, Robbie Jo Judd of Nashville, Imogene Sanders
and Lucille Kee, both of Huntingdon; one brother, Roy
Smith of Nashville; nine grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
Imogene Wright
1910-2004
GLEASON: Services for Imogene Wright, 93, were at
2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 3 at Gallimore Funeral Home
with the Rev. Gene Price officiating. Burial was in New
Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Wright, widow of William Ammons Wright, died
Thursday, January 1 at Hillview Nursing Home in Dresden.
She was born April 8, 1919 in Gleason to the late Ellis
and Flora Stallcup Morgan. She was a member of the Davis
Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Wright of Gleason and
Billy Wright of Griffin, Georgia; a daughter, Nellie
Freeman Carter of Gleason; a sister, Mozella Covington
of Gleason; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren
and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Margaret Ann Pace Smothers
1942-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Margaret Ann Pace Smothers, 61,
passed away Sunday, January 11 at the Baptist Hospital
in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on
Tuesday, January 13 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chase Funeral
Home Chapel with Bro. Fred Ward officiating. Interment
followed in the New Spring Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Smothers was born May 1, 1942 in Carroll County to
the late William Hulon and Margaret Crossett Lifsey. She
was a factory worker for Publix Shirt Corporation and a
member of the First Baptist Church in Huntingdon. She
was also preceded in death by one sister, Betty Sue
Phillips.
She is survived by her husband, Lynn Dale Smothers; two
daughters, Jane Coleman of Memphis and Beverly Ann Scott
of Lafayette, Louisiana; one son, Ricky Joe Pace of
Hollow Rock; one sister, Nancy Mann of Lafayette,
Louisiana; one brother, William “Sunny” Lifsey of
Huntingdon; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Raymond Leo Pate
1935-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Raymond Leo Pate, 68, passed away on
Sunday, January 11 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in
Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday,
January 13 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel
with Bro. Jimmy Stewart officiating. Interment followed
in the Hampton Cemetery.
Mr. Pate was born November 11, 1935 in Obion County to
the late Lester F. and Mary Archer Pate. He was a
retired truck driver and attended a Baptist Church. He
was also preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Wayne
Pate.
Survivors include his stepmother, Elizabeth Pate of
Huntingdon; one uncle, Ralph Dale Pate of Hickman,
Kentucky; one aunt, Swan Archer of Union City and three
cousins.
