Douglas F. Brigdale
1916-2004
MCKENZIE: Douglas Francis Brigdale, 88, a resident
of the Obion County Nursing Home in Union City, died
July 20. A graveside service was at 10:00 a.m.,
Thursday, July 22 at Henry Cemetery with Father Joe
Lattus officiating.
Brigdale was a retired commercial artist who was born
March 19, 1916, in London, England to the late Edith
Gillette Brigdale and Francis Brigdale. He was a World
War II veteran. He moved to Tennessee in 1982 along with
his wife, Eileen Brigdale, who preceded him in death in
1992.
Brigdale is survived by his daughter, Antoinette Bowden
McGee of McKenzie; a brother, Edward Brigdale and two
sisters, Kathleen Bennett and Eileen Oliver, all of
England; three grandchildren, Lisa Doster and Stephen
Bowden, both of McKenzie, and Kevin Bowden of Union
City; four great-grandchildren, Tony and Chelsea Mattox,
and Brandon and Olivia Bowden, all of McKenzie.
Brummitt Funeral Home of McKenzie was in charge of the
arrangements.
Oscar Barnes
1922-2004
MCKENZIE: Mr. Oscar Barnes, 82, died Monday, July 19
at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. The body was
cremated.
Mr. Barnes was a resident of Lakeside Retirement
Community in McKenzie. He was born September 10, 1921 in
Carroll County to the late Samuel and Lula Barnes.
Survivors include two sisters, Kallie Mae Thomas of
Desert Hot Springs, California and Novella Fryers of
Ocean Springs, California and several nieces and
nephews.

Lewis Arnold Cary
1951-2004
CEDAR GROVE: Services for Lewis Arnold Cary, 53,
were conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 25 in the
Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dwayne Brown and
Brother Tim Green officiating. Interment followed in
Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Henderson County. Mr. Cary
died on Friday, July 23 at Jackson-Madison County
General Hospital.
He was born June 24, 1951 to the late Robert Henry Cary
and Lucille Marie Hart. He was a retired employee of
Proctor & Gamble, a farmer and a recent graduate of
Paris Technology Center with a degree in industrial
maintenance.
Survivors include two sons, Randy Cary and Terry Cary,
both of Cedar Grove; his former wife, Bonnie Cary of
Cedar Grove; three sisters, Janette Singleton of Cedar
Grove and Susan Britt and Becky Zurofsky, both of
Lexington; one half-sister, Gina Stubblefield of Huron;
two half brothers, David Smith of McKenzie and Michael
Smith of Hollow Rock; three grandchildren and his

George Weldon Chandler
1922-2004
HUNTINGDON: Services for Elder George Weldon
Chandler were conducted on Monday, July 26 at 3:00 p.m.
in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brothers Lynn
Stapleton, Scott Carter and John D. Small officiating.
Interment followed in the Humbles Chapel Cemetery. Mr.
Chandler died Saturday, July 24 at the Huntingdon Health
& Rehabilitation Center.
Elder Chandler was born August 5, 1922 in Carroll County
to the late Ernest and Eva Woodard Chandler. He was a
farmer, a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church
and a World War II army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Chandler; a son, Rufus
Chandler of Huntingdon; a stepson, Robert Gallimore of
McKenzie; a sister, Leachel Jordan of Huntingdon; two
brothers, Ernest A. Chandler of Bruceton and Wade
Chandler of Bruceton; two grandchildren; two
step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two

Ila Adel Dill
1910-2004
HUNTINGDON: Services for Ila Adel Dill, 94, were
conducted on Friday, July 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the
Christian Chapel Church of Christ with Brother Doug
Sellers and Brother David Young officiating. Interment
followed in the church cemetery. Mrs. Dill died Tuesday,
July 20 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
She was born February 13, 1910 in Carroll County to the
late William Henry Clay and Fannie Zooann Rigsby Scott.
She was a retired employee of Publix Shirt Corp. and a
member of the Christian Chapel Church of Christ. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Dee Dill; a daughter,
Shirley Reeves and an infant son.
Survivors include two daughters, Frances McCaslin and
Evone Eskew, both of Huntingdon; two sons, Glenn Dill of
Zelwood, Florida and James Dill of New Johnsonville; one
brother, Lois Scott of Clarksburg; 18 grandchildren, 42
great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Helen C. Cooper

MCKENZIE: Services for Helen C. Cooper, 71, were at
1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 27 at Brummitt Funeral Home.
Burial was in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Cooper, retired factory worker for Wilker Brothers
and Gaines Manufacturing Co. died on Sunday, July 25 at
Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
She was born October 17, 1932 in Bruceton to the late
Nellie Rodgers Patterson and Hunter Patterson. She was a
member of Enon Baptist Church.
She is survived by a sister, Iva Mae Waldrup of
McKenzie.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Lowe.
Joe Harris
1947-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Joe Harris, 56, were held at
2:00 p.m., Monday, July 26 at Brummitt Funeral Home in
McKenzie with Bro. Dennis Beal officiating. Interment
was in Shiloh Cemetery in McKenzie. He died at his
residence on Friday, July 23.
Mr. Harris, a disabled veteran, was born in McKenzie on
November 1, 1947 to the late Cora Bell Harris and
Charlie G. Harris. He was preceded in death by a sister,
Janice Davis and brother, Robert Harris.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley B. Harris; a
daughter, April Harris and a son, Chris Harris, all of
McKenzie; a stepdaughter, Misty Brewer and stepsons Josh
Brewer and Jeremy Brewer, all of McKenzie; two sisters,
Betty Cawthon of Westport and Janet Adams of McKenzie;
four brothers, Charles Harris and Johnny Harris, both of
McKenzie, James Harris of Jacksonville, Florida and
Billy Harris of Jacksonville, Florida; one grandson,
Hunter Harris and three step-grandchildren, Abbagail
Brewer, Robbie Brewer and Emilie Brewer.

1917-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for A.D. Jones, 86, were held at
11:00 a.m., Monday, July 26 at Brummitt Funeral Home
with Brother Dennis Trull and Brother Clayton Owen
officiating. Interment followed in Carroll Memorial
Gardens.
[Mr. Jones, a retired shoe cobbler, died on Saturday,
July 24 at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
He was born August 1, 1917 in Russell Hill to the late
Maggie Smith Jones and Lonzie W. Jones. He was a member
of the First Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge Caledonia
96th, a lifetime member of the VFW #4939 and a World War
II army air corps veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Ruth Jones; one
son, Hershel Lee (Teresa) Jones of McKenzie; one
brother, Cecil Jones of Nashville; and two
grandchildren, Derek Jones and Amber Jones.
Wayne Brewer King
1931-2004
BRUCETON: Services for Wayne Brewer King, 72, were
conducted on Friday, July 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Smyrna
Baptist Church with Rev. Carvene Jamison officiating.
Interment followed in the Humbles Cemetery. Mr. King
died on Monday, July 19 at the Jackson-Madison County
General Hospital.
He was born August 20, 1931 in Carroll County to the
late Gussie and Lucille Willis King. He was a sawmill
operator until he retired and was a member of Smyrna
Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one sister,
Early Jean King and one brother, James Russell King.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Sue Townes King; two
sons, Tommy King and Dennis King and one daughter,
Deborah Aldridge, all of Bruceton; three brothers,
Priestly King and Sam King, both of McKenzie and Jim
King of Huntingdon; six sisters, Esther Johnson and Lou
Jean Brooke, both of McKenzie, Betty Scott, Rosey King
and Florine Barmore, all of Huntingdon and Caroline King
of Rocksville, Illinois, his mother-in-law, Sadie Nell
Smith of McKenzie; 14 grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
James Wayne Minga
1952-2004
MCKENZIE: Graveside services for James Wayne “Jimmy
Wayne” Minga, 51, were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 24
at Carroll Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tom Lott and
Bro. Bob Copeland officiating.
Mr. Minga, a kitchen employee at Huntingdon Health and
Rehabilitation, died Tuesday, July 20 at Baptist
Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 18, 1952 in Milan.
Survivors include his father, Hart Minga of Carrollton,
Mississippi; a sister, Tisa Maerene Reamer of McKenzie;
a brother, Eddie Lee Minga of Gleason; two half-sisters
of Carrollton, Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his mother. McKenzie Funeral

Cheryl Lynn Robbins

GREENFIELD: Memorial services for Cheryl Lynn
Robbins, 54, were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 23 at
Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Bro. Harrell

Mrs. Robbins, an occupational therapist, died on Monday,
July 19 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born July 15, 1950 in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Survivors include her husband, Richard L. Robbins; two
sons, Casey Robbins of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Jared
Robbins of Hinton, Oklahoma; her mother, June Turcotte
Hyde of Eagle River, Wisconsin; and two brothers, Gary
Nabbefeldt of Kingsford, Michigan and Mark Nabbefeldt of
Appleton, Wisconsin.
Dr. Thomas Howard Smith
1924-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Dr. Thomas Howard Smith, 79,
were held at 3:30 p.m., Friday, July 23 at the First
United Methodist Church in McKenzie with Bro. Harrell
Nation and Dr. William P. Mullins officiating. Interment
followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Dr. Smith died on Wednesday, July 21 at his residence.
He was born on October 14, 1924 in Greenfield to the
late Thomas Ivery and Rosalie May Smith. He was a member
of the First United Methodist Church, where he served on
the administrative boards. He was also a member of the
Lions Club, American Legion, V.F.W., Jaycees, the
Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, the Tennessee
Optometry Association and the N.W. Tennessee Optometry
Association. He was a former member of the McKenzie
Special School District Board of Education.
Survivors include his wife, Marian N. Smith; two sons,
Dr. Tom Smith of McKenzie and Dr. Bill Smith of
Rossville, Georgia; one sister, Christine Fitzgerald of
McKenzie and four grandchildren.

Andrew, 65, will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 29 at
Carroll Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Kenny Carr
officiating. Visitation will be at the McKenzie Funeral
Home on Wednesday, July 28 from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Mrs. Andrew, sales clerk, died on Monday, July 26 at
Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born March 18, 1939 in Phenix, Alabama to the
late Bonnie Lee Lowe and Walter Gordy. She was a veteran
of the U.S. Air Force and a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include her husband, William R. Andrew; two
daughters, Angelia Kolb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Toni
Branson of Lincoln, Nebraska; a son, William Andrew of
St. Paul, Minnesota; two half-sisters, Shirley Thomas of
Phenix, Alabama and Rosalee Roberts of Columbus,
Georgia; a brother, Lamar Gordy of Tifton, Georgia; a
half-brother, Billy Gordy of Texas and eight
