Gladys Nell Robertson
1943-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Gladys Nell Robertson, 60,
were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 21 at McKenzie Funeral
Home with the Revs. Keith Pence and Earlie Lassater
officiating. Burial was in Blooming Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Robertson, retired HIS employee and a homemaker,
died Saturday, June 19 at her residence.
She was born October 15, 1943 in Parkers Crossroads to
the late Mattie Reed Baumgardner and Lewis Baumgardner.
She was a member of Blooming Grove Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband Robert Larry Robertson;
two daughters, Tonya Collins of McKenzie and Nicole
Mingle of Gleason; a son Aaron Robertson of Paris; a
sister, Clara Hollowell of Wildersville and three
grandchildren.
Billie Warren “Joe Bill” Duncan
1926-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Billie Warren “Joe Bill” Duncan, 78,
passed away on Sunday, June 20 at the Huntingdon Health
and Rehabilitation Center. Graveside funeral services
were conducted on Tuesday, June 22 at 10:00 a.m. in the
Leach Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery with Bro. Robert
Barger officiating.
Mr. Duncan was born June 11, 1926 in Carroll County to
the late William Gus and Audra McKinnley Fry Duncan. He
was a retired street department employee for the Town of
Huntingdon. He was preceded in death by two sisters,
Mattie Sue Roe and Uldean Fry and one brother, Clinton
Duncan.
Survivors include one stepson, Dexter Lynn Johnson of
Huntingdon; two sisters, Maxine Hammett of Cedar Grove
and Jennie Lee Kee of Collegedale; one brother, Joe
Frank Duncan of Cedar Grove, three step-grandchildren
and four step-great-grandchildren.

Anthoni “Squirt” Haynes
1983-2004
PARIS: Services for Anthoni “Squirt” Haynes, 21,
were at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 21 at Kingdom Hall of
Jehovah’s Witnesses in Paris with Pierre Lamoureaux
officiating. The body was cremated.
Mr. Haynes, employed with Pella Windows, of Murray,
Kentucky as a trainer, died on Friday, June 18 in Murray
from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was born May 5, 1983 and was a 2001 graduate of
Huntingdon High School. He was a member of Kingdom Hall
of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Paris and served as a
ministerial servant in the Paris congregation of
Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Lea Miller Haynes;
his parents, Michael and Brenda Haynes of Huntingdon;
two brothers, Michael C. Haynes of Georgia and Jason
Haynes of McKenzie; a sister, Lakeisha Williams of
Texas; grandmothers, Alma Moore of Georgia and Annie
Haynes of Henry; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Neal Franklin Mayo
1927-2004
GLEASON: Services for Neal Franklin Mayo, 77, were
at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 20 at Gallimore Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Bob Copeland officiating. Burial
was in New Valley Cemetery.
Mr. Mayo, retired employee of Gleason Brick Company,
died on Friday, June 18 at Hillview Nursing Home in
Dresden.
He was born June 6, 1927 in Lexington to the late Alex
B. and Eula Goff Mayo.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Neal Mayo of Dresden and
Ricky Mayo of Union City; three daughters, Carol Clary
of Cottage Grove, Barbara Edwards and Mary Ann Clement,
both of Gleason; a brother, Hurley Mayo of Dresden;
three sisters, Louise Barnett and Ledell Jordan, both of
Gleason and Ruby Gray of Plant City, Florida; 11
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Bolton Mayo;
a brother Alex B. Mayo, Jr. and two grandchildren.
Eunice Mae Moore
1919-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Eunice Mae Moore, 85, were at
2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 20 at McKenzie Funeral Home with
the Revs. Vance Rushing and Dennis Trull officiating.
Burial was in Caledonia Cemetery.
Mrs. Moore died on Friday, June 18 at McKenzie Regional
Hospital.
She was born March 11, 1919 in McEwen to the late Edna
Nancy Hall Edwards and George Edwards. She was a member
of New Bethel Baptist Church in Henry.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha Harris of Milan
and Bobbie L. Mann of McKenzie; three sons, Richard
Moore and Randy Moore, both of McKenzie and George Moore
of Gleason; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren
and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert
Moore.
Kathleen June “Cathy” Ownby Porter
1949-2004
MCKENZIE: Private services for Kathleen June “Cathy”
Ownby Porter, 55, were held at Pisgah Cemetery in Atwood
with Rev. Norris Milton and John Smith, Sr. officiating.
A memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 26 at
2:00 p.m. at the Paris First Assembly of God on Highway
641.
Mrs. Porter, a homemaker, died on Wednesday, June 9 at
Henry County Medical Center.
She was born June 8, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Survivors include her parents, Alvin P. and Betty June
Bogle Ownby of McKenzie; three sons, James Ray “Jimmy”
Hubbard of Martin and Damorn Porter and Anthony Porter,
both of California; one brother, Alvin V. Ownby of
Arkansas and three grandchildren.
McKenzie Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Ernest Earl Smith
1920-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Ernest Earl Smith, 83, died on
Monday, June 14 at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, June 17 at
11:00 a.m. in the Huntingdon First Baptist Church with
Bro. Fred Ward officiating. Interment followed in the
Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Smith was born October 24, 1920 in Carroll County to
the late Euna Belle Carroll and Ernest Earl Smith, Sr.
He was a retired employee of the Carroll County Electric
Department with 47 years of service. He was the longest
active member of the First Baptist Church with 72 years
attendance and a World War II veteran with the Eighth
Air Force, having been a gunner on B-17’s and B-24’s. He
was preceded in death by his wife, Minta Perkins Smith,
who passed away in May 1990.
Survivors include one daughter, Shan Anderson; one son,
Dr. Mark V. Smith, both of Memphis; four grandchildren
and one great-granddaughter.

Bruce L. Suratt
1946-2004
CORDOVA: Funeral services for Bruce Leon Suratt, 58,
were at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 16 at Ridgeway
Funeral Home with the Rev. William Gayle Suratt
officiating. Burial was in the Henry Cemetery.
Mr. Suratt died on Saturday, June 12 at his residence
after a long illness.
He was born January 23, 1946 in Dyer to the late Carlie
Clifford Suratt and Myrtle Esther Gilbert Suratt. He was
a U.S. Navy veteran and was discharged with a service
disability.
Survivors include one sister, Laura Qualls of Henry; one
son, Jason Suratt of Jackson; four brothers, Bob R.
Suratt and Gene A. Suratt, both of Memphis, Charles
Clifford Suratt of Van Buren, Arkansas and William Gayle
Suratt of Kosciusko, Mississippi and one grandchild. A
sister, Betty Butler, preceded him in death.
Carl Adams, Jr.
1927-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Carl Adams, Jr., 77, were at
2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 19 at Williams Funeral Home
with the Rev. Kenny Carr officiating. Burial was in
Brock’s Cemetery in Greenfield.
Mr. Adams, retired truck driver, died Wednesday, June 16
at his home.
He was born March 27, 1927 in Greenfield to the late
Bill Adams and Bertha Raney Adams. Her served in the
army from January 11, 1946 to February 26, 1947.
Survivors include a son, Richard Adams of Parker,
Colorado; three daughters, Sheila Adams Gonzalez of
McKenzie, Judy Adams Warren of Chicago, Illinois and
Shirley Adams Camerson of Remeoville, Illinois; a
brother, J.D. Adams of Greenfield; three sisters, Marie
Usery, Ruth Ann Mitchell and Sue Williamson, all of
Greenfield; 11 grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
Robert Clark
1940-2004
ATWOOD: Funeral arrangements for Robert Clark, 64,
were incomplete at press-time and will be announced by
Trinity Funeral Home. Mr. Clark died on Monday, June 21
at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Sidney Dean McGuire
1930-2004
TREZEVANT: Mr. Sidney Dean McGuire 73, died
Saturday, June 19 at the Jackson-Madison County General
Hospital. Memorial services will be held at a later date
in Sacramento, California.
Mr. McGuire was born November 1, 1930 in Lincoln,
Nebraska to the late Willis Thomas and Gladys Dinsmore
McGuire. He was a retired employee of the Granite
Construction Company and a veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Powell McGuire, four
sons, Jay Blake McGuire of Citrus Heights, California,
Greg Alan McGuire of Men Docino, California, Corey Dean
McGuire and Brian Neal McGuire, both of Sacramento,
California; four sisters, Donna Ruth Peters of Dothan,
Alabama, Virginia Wyatt of Phoenix, Arizona, Arlene
McGuire and Lorraine McGuire, both of Vancouver,
Washington; two brothers, Dale McGuire of Corcoran,
California and Johnny McGuire of Vancouver, Washington;
13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
