Inez Rodgers Pendergrast
1908-2004
MCKENZIE: Graveside services for Inez Rodgers
Pendergrast, 96, were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 24
at Hollywood Cemetery in Jackson. Brummitt Funeral Home
was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Pendergrast died on Thursday, May 20 at McKenzie
Health Care in McKenzie. She was a former resident of
Jackson and retired employee of the former Nathan's
Ladies Store in Jackson.
She was born February 20, 1908 in McKenzie to the late
Ola Berryhill Rodgers and Claude C. Rodgers. She was a
member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in
Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred C.
Pendergrast; two sisters, Mildred Barnes and Frances
Bowden; a niece, Rebecca Barnes Alexander; a nephew,
Claude "Bob" Bowden and a great-nephew, Charles "Chuck"
Bowden.
Survivors include two great nephews, Richard and Ray
Stephenson of Vero Beach, Florida; three
great-great-nephews, Ryan, Joshua and Luke Bowden of
Franklin and her caregiver, Mrs. June Brummitt of
McKenzie.
Terrell TerFerrell Carter
1978-2004
CEDAR GROVE: Services for Terrell TerFerrell Carter,
25, were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 29 at Bible
Hill Baptist Church. Burial followed in Mt. Pleasant
Cemetery.
Mr. Carter died on Sunday, May 23 at Henderson County
Community Hospital.
Survivors include his former wife, Samantha Mullins
Carter of Cedar Grove; his mother, Teresa A. Atkins of
Cedar Grove, his father, Clarence Lamont Carter, Jr. of
Milan; daughters Jessamyn Buczynski and Jolissa Leona
Nicole Holder, both of Lexington; one son, Shawn Lamont
Cole of Cedar Grove; two sisters, Terneus Atkins and
Tenna Carter of Milan; and four brothers, Terrance
Atkins and Jermaine Atkins, both of Lexington and Marcus
and Jason Carter, both of Milan.
Verdie L. Mitchell
1908-2004
TREZEVANT: Services for Verdie L. Mitchell, 96, were
held on Friday, May 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United
Methodist Church in McLemoresville with Bro. Tommy
Martin officiating. Interment followed in the
McLemoresville Cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell, a retired teacher at McLemoresville
Elementary died on Tuesday, May 25 at Life Care Center
in Bruceton. She was a member of the First United
Methodist Church in McLemoresville, the United Methodist
Women, a youth Sunday school teacher, the Retired
Teacher's Association and had the distinction of being
the oldest citizen of McLemoresville.
She was born February 10, 1908 in Carroll County to the
late Ollie Simons and Eldon E. Woodard. She was also
preceded in death by her husband, Horace A. Mitchell;
two brothers, Max Woodard and Sam Woodard and one
sister, Polly Kornegay.
Survivors include one son, Buddy Mitchell of Knoxville;
one daughter, Linda Argo of Atwood; four brothers, Harold
Woodard of Ft. Myers, Florida, Almer Woodard of Little
Rock, Arkansas, Gordon Woodard of Clarkesville, Georgia
and Horace Woodard of Haskell, Texas; two sisters, Flora
Bell Loving of Palm Dale, California and Mary Sue
Kornegay of Charlotte, North Carolina; five
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Pauline A. Perkins
1909-2004
BARTLETT: Services for Pauline A. Perkins, 94,
formerly of McKenzie were held on Wednesday, May 26 at
2:00 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with
Sandra Leatherwood officiating. Burial followed in
Everett's Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Perkins, a beautician, died on Monday, May 24 at
Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis.
She was born October 5, 1909 to the late Evadna Anderson
Aylor and George Henry Aylor. She was also preceded in
death by her husband, Curtis F. Perkins and a son, Doyle
Perkins.
Survivors include a daughter, Patsy Wallace of Bartlett;
a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Perkins of Dyersburg; seven
grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and five
great-great-grandchildren.
Robert Walter Tart
1983-2004
BRUCETON: Mr. Robert Walter Tart, 21, passed away on
Monday, May 24 at the Carroll County Jail. Graveside
funeral services were conducted on Thursday, May 27 at
2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Skullbone.
Mr. Tart was born January 12, 1983 in Mims, Florida. He
was a construction worker.
Survivors include his parents, Bobby and Loretta Hunt
Tart of Bruceton; two sisters, Brandy Lee Tart of
McKenzie and Kelly Annette Tart King of Huntingdon; one
half-sister, Patricia Ellis of Huntingdon and one
brother, Kerry Hunt of Huntingdon.
Chase Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Donna Maupin
1945-2004
HENRY: Funeral services for Donna Rae Maupin, 59,
were at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 27 at Ridgeway Funeral
Home with Craig Peevyhouse officiating. Interment
followed in Bevil Cemetery.
Mrs. Maupin died of cancer on Tuesday, May 18 at
Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
She was born April 2, 1945 in Paris to the late Raymond
Henry Gansner and Dora Lee Smith Gansner. She was a
medical office worker who assisted a number of
physicians through the years. She last worked as an
x-ray technician. She was a member of Temple Baptist
Church and attended East Wood Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, James "Jimmy" Maupin; one
son, Tracey Maupin of Paris; one daughter, Tammy Wells
of Paris; one sister, Judy Carol Sanders of McKenzie; a
niece, Kelly Sanders-Kelley of McKenzie and four
grandchildren.
Carrie Mae Tucker
1928-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Carrie Mae Tucker, 76, passed away
on Wednesday, May 26 at Jackson-Madison County General
Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday,
May 29 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel
with Bro. Phillip Halters, Bro. Marshall Gurley and Bro.
Tim Maness officiating. Interment followed in New
Liberty Cemetery.
Mrs. Tucker was born January 18, 1928 in Clarksburg to
the late Sam and Minnie Jane Rigsby Singleton. She was a
homemaker, a member of New Liberty Missionary Baptist
Church and a lifetime resident of Carroll County. She
was also preceded in death by two daughters, Betty Mac
Tucker, an infant daughter and one grandson, Andy D.
Tucker.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Edward L.
Tucker; ten sons, James Tucker of McKenzie, Darrell
Tucker, Rodney Tucker, Billy Tucker, Roger Tucker, Bev
Tucker, John Tucker, Jessie Tucker, Jack Tucker and
Kenny Tucker, all of Huntingdon; fourteen grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.
Conway Black
1917-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Conway Black, 86, passed away on
Thursday, May 27 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, May 29 at
2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro.
James Humphrey officiating. Interment followed in the
McAuley Cemetery.
Mr. Black was born December 11, 1917 in Carroll County
to the late Philmore and Renee Dill Black. He was a
retired police officer for the Huntingdon Police
Department and a Baptist by belief. He was also preceded
in death by his wife, Iva Mae Sanders Black, who died
February 4, 1998; two sisters, Ollie Lane and Iva Mayo
and two brothers, Johnny Black and Jessie Black.
Survivors include one daughter, Becky Johnson; one son,
Connie Black, both of Huntingdon; two grandsons, one
great-grandson; and one great-great granddaughter.
Gary Dean Fredenburg
1955-2004
CAMDEN: Mr. Gary Dean Fredenburg, 48, passed away on
Saturday, May 29 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in
Huntingdon.
Mr. Fredenburg was born November 13, 1955 in Gowanda,
New York to the late Edwin Gayus and Clara Merne Felt
Fredenburg. He was a truck driver for the Digby Trucking
Company. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert
Fredenburg.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Stauffer Fredenburg
of Camden; and two brothers, Russell Fredenburg of
Randolph, New York and Charles Fredenburg of Licking,
Missouri.
Larry Vance Moody
1945-2004
GLEASON: Services for Larry Vance Moody, 59, were at
2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 28 in the Gallimore Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Sumner and Rev. Michael
Simmons officiating. Interment followed in Hopewell
Cemetery.
Mr. Moody, a retired water superintendent for Gleason
Water Department, died on Wednesday, May 26 at McKenzie
Regional Hospital. He was a member of Gleason First
Baptist Church.
He was born in Dyer on March 13, 1945 to Curtis and Irma
Hugueley Moody of Gleason, who survive.
Also surviving are his wife, Sylvia Stigall Moody; one
stepson, Eddie Stone of Gleason; one daughter, Angela
Suratt of Paris; one brother, Jerry Moody of Gleason;
two sisters, Linda Crawford of Gleason and Norma Parham
of Dresden and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by one stepson, Kenny Stone.
Lloyd D. Nored
1943-2004
PARIS: Services for Lloyd Duaine Nored, 60, were at
2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 29 at McEvoy Funeral Home with
Jimmy Allison officiating. Burial followed in Shady
Grove Cemtery.
A retired truck driver, Mr. Nored died Thursday, May 27
at Henry County Medical Center.
He was born in Henry County on November 24, 1943 to
Addie Lou Ray Nored of Paris and the late James Everett
Nored. He was an army veteran of the Vietnam War and a
member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors also include two daughters, Tammy Price and
Lisa Goode, both of McKenzie; one son, Timmy Nored of
McKenzie; two sisters, Glenda Wright of Martin and
Martha Foster of Dresden; four brothers, Gary and
Phillip Nored, both of Paris, Michael Nored of Nashville
and Terry Nored of Louisiana; and five grandchildren.
A brother, Lowell Nored, preceded him in death. |
