Remonia L. Allen
1931-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Remonia L. Allen, 73, passed away
Thursday, June 3 at her home. Funeral services were
conducted on Sunday, June 6 at 2:30 p.m. at the Chase
Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mitchell Rayburn, Bro.
David Leslie and Bro. Trey Crews officiating. Interment
followed in the Concord Cemetery.
Mrs. Allen was born January 20, 1931 in Benton County to
the late Leonard Murphy and Dellie Cole Hedge. She
retired from the bakery of Jim Adams IGA and was a
member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James
Reeves; one son, Keith Reeves; one stepson, Scott Allen;
one sister, Oberlan Hartley and one brother, Paul Hedge.
Survivors include her second husband, J.D. Allen, who
she married on January 25, 1986; one daughter, Brenda
Leslie of Westport; two grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
Christine H. Barker
1927-2004
MCLEMORESVILLE: Services for Christine H. Barker, 76,
were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 8 at Brummitt Funeral
Home in Trezevant with Buddy Chandler officiating.
Burial followed in McLemoresville Cemetery.
Mrs. Barker, a homemaker, died on Saturday, June 5 at
her residence in McLemoresville.
She was born July 20, 1927 in Huntingdon to the late
Freeman Holland and Ora Pafford Holland. She was a
member of the First Baptist Church in McLemoresville.
Survivors include one son, James Barker of Kathleen,
Georgia; one daughter, Diane Carroll of McLemoresville;
two brothers, Bill Holland of Huntingdon and James
Holland of McLemoresville; one sister, Mildred Kelly of
McLemoresville; eight grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
husband, George “Hud” Barker.
Velma Lucille Brewer
1925-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Velma Lucille Brewer, 79, died on
Tuesday, June 1 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in
Huntingdon. Services were conducted on Thursday, June 3
at 2:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with
Brother Wayne Holmes officiating. Interment followed at
Palmer Shelter Cemetery.
Mrs. Brewer was born March 17, 1925 in Carroll County to
the late Curtis W. and Carrie Kelley Wilkes. She was a
homemaker and a member of the Palmer Shelter United
Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Enoch Leon Brewer, who passed away on March 16,
1984, and four brothers and sisters.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda Parker of
Bruceton, Pam Compton of Memphis, Sharon Bennett and
Toni Sawyers, both of Huntingdon; three sons, Tim Brewer
of Huntingdon, Terry Brewer and Tracy Brewer, both of
Jackson; three brothers, James Wilkes of Soddy Daisy,
Jerry Wilkes of Culver City, California and Wendell
Wilkes of Herrington, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren and

Dorothy Elkins
1939-2004
PARIS: Retired factory worker Dorothy Louise Adams
Elkins, 65, died on Sunday, May 30 at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday,
June 2 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Craig Peevyhouse of
Maplewood Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in
Memorial Cemetery.
She was born April 24, 1939 in Nashville to the late
Lonzo and Thelma Louise Briley Raymer. She was also
preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Elkins, who died
in 1968.
Mrs. Elkins was retired from Henry I. Siegel in
Bruceton. She was a member of Jesus Saves Baptist Church
near Buchanan.
Survivors include four sons, Earl Ray Elkins and James
Melvin Elkins, both of Paris and Terry Lee Elkins and
Allen Elkins, both of Union City; two sisters, Barbara
Forrest of Springville and Willie Mae Merrell of Paris;
two brothers, Bobby Raymer of Paris and William Marion
Raymer of Memphis; three half-sisters, Carolyn Raymer of
Paris, Mary Treet of McKenzie and Thelma Raymer of
Kentucky; one half-brother, Alanzo Raymer of Paris;
eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She
was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Lynn
Elkins.
Frances Ollen Krouch
1902-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Frances Ollen Krouch, 101, were
at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 6 at Brummitt Funeral Home
with the Revs. Harrell Nation and John Pugh officiating.
Burial was in Chapel Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Krouch, co-owner of Krouch Grocery and Service
Station, died on Friday, June 4 at McKenzie Regional
Hospital.
She was born August 20, 1902 in McKenzie to the late
James H. Bunn and Martha Jane Pate Bunn. She was a
member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a niece, Oteria Ownby of McKenzie;
great nieces and nephews James Ownby, Bill Ownby, Wanda
McCaskey, Charles Thompson, Ann Hood, Linda Harris,
Richard Walker and Kenneth Walker; great-great nieces
and nephews Terry Ownby, Vicky Clark, Barry Thompson,
Marcia Thompson, Daria Thompson, Marvin Hood, Patsy
Petts, Debbie McManns, Cindy Jones, Will Ownby, Michael
McCaskey, Mary McCaskey, Rick Bunn and Dale Bunn and 17
great-great-great nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marion
Krouch; a son, James Edwin Thompson and a granddaughter,
Virginia Thompson.
Maudell “Martie” Hargrove King
1920-2004
MEMPHIS: Services for Maudell “Martie” Hargrove King,
83, formerly of Bruceton, were at 11:00 a.m., Friday,
June 7 at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry
Bradshaw officiating. Burial was in Old Hollow Rock
Cemetery in Bruceton.
Mrs. King, retired cashier for a grocery store, died
Saturday, May 29 at her home.
She was born September 30, 1920 in Bruceton to the late
James Monroe Hargrove and Geneva Rowland Hargrove.
Survivors include a son, James W. King, Jr. of San
Antonio, Texas; a brother, Billy Hargrove of Willinston,
South Carolina; and two grandsons.
Ralph D. McCoy
1907-2004
HENRY: Services for Ralph D. McCoy, 97, were at 2:00
p.m. on Wednesday, June 2 at Henry Baptist Church with
Bro. Jerry Drye officiating. Burial was in Henry
Cemetery.
Mr. McCoy, retired lumber grader and timber buyer died
on Sunday, May 30 at Henry County Medical Center.
He was born February 27, 1907 in Kemper County,
Mississippi to the late Oscar McCoy and Jettie McClellan
McCoy. He was a member of Henry Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel Gooch McCoy; two
daughters, Evelyn Patterson of Greenville and Rebecca
Cathey of Memphis; three sons David McCoy of Paris;
Douglas McCoy of Knoxville and Steve McCoy of Henry;
nine grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters and five
brothers. Memorials may be made to Henry Baptist Church.
U.L. Townes
1936-2004
MCKENZIE: Former Milan Arsenal employee U.L. Townes, 68,
died on Tuesday June 1 at Jackson-Madison County General
Hospital. His funeral was at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June
5 at Greater Enon Baptist Church in McKenzie with the
Rev. J.W. Stewart officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet
Cemetery in McKenzie.
His wife, Marshalene Townes survives. They were married
September 8, 1959.
He was born February 25, 1936 in McKenzie, a son of I.J.
and Hattie King Townes of McKenzie.
Survivors also include two daughters, Anita Newbill and
Carol Townes of McKenzie; four sons, Jessie Townes, Carl
Townes, and Jimmy Townes, all of McKenzie and Ewell
Townes of Oakdale, Louisiana; two sisters, Sadie Smith
and Kay Townes, both of McKenzie; one brother, Russell
Townes of Chicago; 11 grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth
Townes and Espanolia Williams; two brothers, Robert and
James Townes and three great-grandchildren.
Milton Clyde Yarbrough
1952-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Milton Clyde Yarbrough, 51, died on
Tuesday, June 1 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in
Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Monday,
June 7 at 12:00 noon in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel
with Reverend Solomon Whitman officiating.
Mr. Yarbrough was born July 26, 1952 to the late Wilbert
Clyde and Rosa Mae Brooks Yarbrough. He was a
maintenance engineer for Safe Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn Perkins Yarbrough; two
daughters, Bridgett Yarbrough and Danielle Yarbrough;
three brothers, Wilbert Yarbrough, Stanley Yarbrough and
Terrence Yarbrough; five sisters, Mildred Grant, Carlyn
Wilson, Jean Stokes, Doris Ballenger and Linda Brown;

William C. Miller
1922-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for William C. Miller, 81, will be at
2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 9 at Brummitt Funeral Home
with Bro. Gene Price officiating. Burial will be at Old
Union Cemetery in the Como Community.
Mr. Miller, serviceman for Campbell Well Drilling in
McKenzie, died Monday, June 7 at his home.
He was born July 19, 1922 in McKenzie to the late Mary
M. Lawrence Miller and Albert B. Miller. He was a World
War II army veteran, and a member of the VFW, American
Legion and Masons.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Trevathan of
Germantown and Diana Cunningham of McKenzie, seven
grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette
Accetta Miller, a brother Mays Miller and four sisters,
Virgie Manley Everett, Aileen Verdell, Imogene Verdell
and BB Adams McBride.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 8 from 5:30 to 8:00
p.m. and Wednesday, June 9 from 9:00 a.m. until service
