Seborn A. Hathcote
1960-2004
MILAN: Graveside services for Seborn A. Hathcote,
43, formerly of Jackson, were at 11:00 a.m., Thursday,
March 25 at Liberty Cemetery in McKenzie with the
Reverend Jason Ray officiating.
Mr. Hathcote, disabled, died Tuesday, March 23 at
McKenzie Regional Hospital.
He was born March 30, 1960 in Jackson to the late
Rosalea Stout Hathcote and Seborn A. Hathcote, Sr. He
was a member of East Jackson Church of God.
Survivors include a daughter, Cornelius Hathcote of
Jackson; a son, Kevin Hathcote of Jackson; eight
sisters, Rose New, Linda Maples, Betty McCord, all of
Jackson, Brenda Lollar of Oklahoma, Phylis Maben of
Linden, Ruth Quick of Virginia, Martha Carroll of
Lexington and Lessie Scott, address unknown.
McKenzie Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Monna Estell Owen
1914-2004
HENRY: Services for Monna Estell Owen, 89, were at
2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 30 at LeDon Chapel Ridgeway
Funeral in Paris with the Revs. Bob Copeland and Dennis
Scott officiating. Burial was in Olive Branch Cemetery
in Cottage Grove.
Mrs. Owen, a homemaker, died on Sunday March 28 at
McKenzie Healthcare Center.
She was born October 15, 1914 in Henry to the late
Austin Earl Hall and Annie Vivian Travis Hall. She
attended New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Henry.
Survivors include two daughters Helen Ruth Scott of
Dresden and Sarah Vivian Chappel of Troy, Illinois; a
son Hulon Earl Owen of McKenzie; five grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Alton Owen,
two sisters, Mary Ellen Hall and Dorothy Mae Scott and a
grandchild, Barry Owen.
Alva Lucille Johnson
1925-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Alva Lucille Johnson, 79, passed
away on Saturday, March 27 at the Huntingdon Health &
Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted
on Monday, March 29 at 12:00 noon in the Chase Funeral
Home Chapel with Bro. Lloyd Ray Rich officiating.
Interment followed in the Union Academy Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born on January 31, 1925 in Carroll
County to the late Henry and Clara Weatherley Wilson.
She was a retired production worker for the Milan
Arsenal and was a member of the Twin Oaks Church of
Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband,
William Berry Johnson, who died on November 14, 1981;
two sisters, Lorene Crews and Irene Viers; and two
brothers, Charlie Wilson and Horace Wilson.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Nell Forrest; one
son, Charles Johnson; one brother, Roy Wilson, all of
Huntingdon; three granddaughters and two
great-grandchildren.
Gladys Milton Howard
1930-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Gladys Milton Howard, 73,
were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 28 at Mt. Ararat
Baptist Church. Burial was in Mt. Ararat Cemetery. Mrs.
Howard died Thursday, March 25.
Survivors include three daughters, Wilma Westbrooke of
Columbia, Maryland, Teresa Harrison and Dorothy Thomas,
both of Jackson; four sons, Larry Milton and Dwayne Paul
Howard, both of Indianapolis, Indiana, John Stanley
Howard of Greenfield and Wilbert Howard of Trezevant;
one sister, Dorothy Hillsman of Trezevant; 15
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Rawls Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
James David Jones
1924-2004
ATWOOD: Services for Mr. James David Jones, 79, were
at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 29 at the Bodkin Funeral
Home in Milan. Burial was in the Pisgah Cemetery in
Atwood.
Mr. Jones was a United States army veteran of World War
II.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Springer Jones of
Atwood; one son, Bert Jones of Milan; one brother, Joe
R. Jones of Jackson; and one granddaughter.
The family requests memorials be directed to the First
United Methodist Church in Atwood or to a charity of the
donor's choice.
Mellon Fry Marrison
1908-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Mellon Fry Marrison, 95, passed away
on Tuesday, March 23 at the Huntingdon Health and
Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted
on Thursday, March 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral
Home Chapel with Bro. Doug Sellers officiating.
Interment followed in the Christian Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Marrison was born August 17, 1908 in Eagle Creek to
the late William II and Cassie Jeanette "Pebbles"
Marrison. He was a farmer and a sawmill operator. He was
a member of the Eagle Creek Baptist Church. He was
preceded in death by one sister, Maggie Lee Marrison and
four brothers, Garland Randolph Marrison, James Woffard
Marrison, Thomas Crockett Marrison and William Haven
Marrison.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ruby Lee Woods
Marrison; two sons, William Mack Marrison of McKenzie
and James Fry Marrison of Huntingdon; two grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.
Gloria G. "Doty" McCullar
1930-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Gloria G. "Doty" McCullar,
73, were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 28 at First
Presbyterian Church USA with Dr. Julius Hubbard
officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mrs. McCullar died Friday, March 26 at Jackson-Madison
County General Hospital.
She was born November 28, 1930 in Martin to the late
Elizabeth Edmundson Galloway and Dr. Coke Galloway. She
was a member of the First Presbyterian Church USA in
McKenzie.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Simpson of
Jackson and Jan Loy of Knoxville; a son, Frank Ridley,
Jr. of McKenzie; a brother, Frank Galloway of Nashville;
three sisters, Ann Ankeney of Virginia Beach, Virginia,
Janice Wall of Kingston and Eloise Sharpe of Jackson,
Mississippi; five grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Devaudre B. "Jack" Metcalf
1922-2004
BEACH PARK, ILLINOIS: Private graveside services for
Devaudre B. "Jack" Metcalf, 81, formerly of McKenzie,
were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 24 at Mt.
Olivet Cemetery in McKenzie. Brummitt Funeral Home was
in charge of the service.
Mr. Metcalf, retired second mate and surveyor on a river
boat and also retired from Abbott Industries, died on
Saturday, March 20 at his residence.
He was born September 2, 1922 in Bay City, Illinois to
the late Pearl Wells Metcalf and Samuel C. Metcalf. He
was a member of Free Masons of Illinois and past master
of 1958 at the North Chicago Lodge #1095 and was a World
War II army veteran.
Survivors include a son, Jack W. Metcalf of Beach Park,
Illinois; a sister, Ferne L. Wise of Manteno, Illinois
and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Reece Throgmorton
Metcalf and a daughter, Bonnie L. Conry.
Eulon Markus Morris
1919-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Eulon Markus Morris, 84, were
at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 26 at Brummitt Funeral Home
with the Rev. Gary Smithson officiating. Burial was in
Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mr. Morris, a retired autoworker, died on Tuesday, March
23 at McKenzie Health Care Center.
He was born November 26, 1919 in Yuma to the late Geneva
Hall Morris and Walter Everett Morris. He was a member
of First Baptist Church in McKenzie, a UAW member and a
World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Emer L. Cooper Morris; a son
Lloyd Wade Morris of McKenzie; a daughter, Sandee Morris
McGriff and son-in-law John McGriff of Hermitage; six
brothers, Tennie Morris, Henry Morris and James Morris,
all of McKenzie; Ray Morris of Smyrna, William Morris of
Memphis and Bill "W.G." Morris of Hermitage; a sister,
Lorena Evans of Smithville; seven grandchildren, Justin,
Amber and Haylee Snead, Tina Adams, Mark Hein, Suzanne
Nixon and Lesley Eichelberger and eight
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Markus Morris;
a brother, Walter Gray and two sisters, Marion Morris
and Nancy Liscomb.
James Edward Renfroe
1939-2004
CLARKSBURG: Mr. James Edward Renfroe, 64, passed
away on Tuesday, March 23 at the Jackson-Madison County
General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on
Thursday, March 25 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chase Funeral
Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Crossno officiating.
Interment followed in the Sellers Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Renfroe was born August 20, 1939 in Henderson County
to the late Roscoe and Pauline Rainey Renfroe. He was a
member of the Baptist Church. He was preceded in death
by one granddaughter, Kelsey Renfroe and one brother,
Donald Keith Renfroe.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Pat Renfroe; two
sons, Randy Renfroe of Jackson and Don Renfroe of
Huntingdon; two sisters, Joyce Ellis and Joy Hays, both
of Westport; four brothers, Gary Renfroe and David
Renfroe, both of Westport; Larry Renfroe of Huntingdon
and Billy Renfroe of Lexington; and four grandchildren.
Levi Etheridge
1929-2004
GLEASON: Services for Levi Etheridge, 74, were at
11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 30 at Gallimore Funeral Home
Chapel with the Revs. Gene Price and Keith Sumner
officiating. Burial was in Rushing Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Etheridge, retired heavy equipment operator for Old
Hickory Clay Company, died Saturday, March 27 at
Regional Hospital in Jackson.
He was born June 5, 1929 in Halls to the late Robert and
Sarah Bessie Thurman Etheridge. He was a member of
Tumbling Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Ellis Etheridge; two
sons, Mark Etheridge of Gleason and Mike Etheridge of
Martin; a brother, Eli Etheridge of Halls; a sister,
Robbie Wright of Halls; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Etheridge.
Huley Haynes
1914-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Huley Haynes, 89, will be at
11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 31 at Johnson Temple CME
Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Rawls
Funeral Home in Paris is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Haynes died on Tuesday, March 23.
Survivors include two sons, William Haynes of Landover,
Maryland and Robert Haynes of Chicago, Illinois.
Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m.
