Ann Ward
1915-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Ann Ward, 89, passed away on
Sunday, February 22 at the Huntingdon Health and
Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conduced on
Friday, February 27 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chase Funeral
Home Chapel with Dr. William P. Bailey Jr. and Dr. Paul
Mullikin officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Hill
Cemetery.
Mrs. Ward was born February 18, 1915 in Carroll County
to the Late Seba Edward and Ollie Britt Ballard. She was
a retired sales clerk for Tate's Jewelry and a member of
the Huntingdon First Methodist Church. She was also
preceded in death by her husband, Edmund Everett Ward,
who died in July, 1981.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Weir of Lawrence,
Kansas and Lucile Hatton of Denver, Colorado; one son,
Ed Burton Ward of Wichita, Kansas and five
grandchildren.
Alton C. Sanders, Sr.
1941-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Alton C. Sanders, Sr., 62,
were on Saturday, February 28 at Grace Baptist Church in
McKenzie with Bro. Fred Morris and Bro. Dennis Beal
officiating. Interment followed in Carroll Memorial
Gardens.
Mr. Sanders, disabled, passed away on Wednesday,
February 25 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital
in Jackson.
He was born May 2, 1941 in Humboldt to the late Mrytle
Williams Sanders and Ira Sanders. He was also preceded
in death by his son, Alton C. "Buster" Sanders, Jr.;
four brothers, R.D. Sanders, Garland Sanders, Marion
Sanders and Paul "Huey" Sanders and one sister, Mallie
Wilson.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy C. Sanders; four
sisters, Zina Mae Turner of Hohenwald, Virginia Turner
of Lacey Springs, Alabama, Irene Steadman of Jasper
Alabama and Rachel Corum of Gleason; three grandchildren
and three step-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked donations be
made to Grace Baptist Church. Brummitt Funeral Home in
McKenzie was in charge of the arrangements.
Edward Lee Hollowell
1950-2004
YUMA: Mr. Edward Lee Hollowell, 53, died Friday,
February 27 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday,
February 29 at the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with
Brother Jeff Bryant officiating. Interment followed at
Mt. Comfort Cemetery.
Mr. Hollowell was born July 28, 1950 in Carroll County
to the late Audrain and Alma Lee Hollowell. He was
preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Ruth Hollowell.
He was a retired employee of Pete's Body Shop.
Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Nunley of
Huntingdon; two sons, Kevin Lee Hollowell of Huntingdon
and Keith Edward Hollowell of Westport; three sisters,
Kathy Reynolds, Judith Smothers, and Linda Metcalf, all
of Huntingdon; four brothers, R.J. Hollowell, Morris
Hollowell, William Hollowell, and Michael Greg Hollowell,
all of Huntingdon; and five grandchildren.

Gina Pritchard
1965-2004
CLARKSBURG: Mrs. Gina Pritchard, 38, passed away
Wednesday, February 25 at her home. Funeral services
were conducted on Friday, February 27 at 1:00 p.m. in
the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Maness and
Bro. Johnny Boyd officiating. Interment followed in
Sellers Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Pritchard was born October 9, 1965 in Huntingdon.
She was a clerk at City Drug Company and was a member of
the Yuma Baptist Church. She graduated from Clarksburg
High School in 1983 and completed a course at the
vocational school in McKenzie. She was preceded in death
by two grandfathers, J.R. Gooch and W.B. Hollowell and
her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lois Ray and
Victorine Pritchard.
Survivors include her husband, Ricky Pritchard, whom she
married November 8, 1965; three daughters, Julie
Pritchard, Jessica Pritchard and Jamie Pritchard, all of
Clarksburg; her parents, Roger and Sue Hollowell of
Yuma, her paternal grandmother, Kate Hollowell Gross of
Huntingdon; maternal grandmother, Cleo Gooch of Yuma and
one sister, Teresa Todd of Yuma.
Ruth Simmons
1931-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Ruth Simmons, 72, passed away on
Saturday, February 28 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital
in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on
Monday, March 1 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home
Chapel with Bro. Marty Johnson officiating. Interment
followed in the Palmer Shelter Cemetery.
Mrs. Simmons was born November 1, 1931 in Carroll County
to the late William Otha and Oma Lee Weaver Mann. She
was a retired sewing machine operator for the Publix
Shirt Cooperation and attended the First United
Pentecostal Church in Camden. She was also preceded in
death by one brother, Carl Mann.
Survivors include three daughters, Regina Bradley and
Terry Meggs, both of Huntingdon and Denise Baumgardner
of Jackson; one son, Junior Simmons of Huntingdon; three
sisters, Gladys Mann and Guyneth Mann, both of
Huntingdon and Ann Hopper of Hollow Rock; one brother,
Leroy Mann of Huntingdon; eight grandchildren; two
step-grandchildren; one great-grandson and six
step-great-grandchildren.
Mae Pendergrass Roark
1921-2004
NASHVILLE: Mae Pendergrass Roark, 82, died
Wednesday, February 25. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Joe A. Pendergrass and was a member of the
Crieve Hall Church of Christ. She was retired from the
State of Tennessee Department of Safety.
Survivors include her husband, Eldon Roark of Nashville;
three daughters, Yvonne Norman, Linda WArbritton and
Janet Rice; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
three sisters, Lorene Oatsvall, Pauline Bennett and
Ludell Walker, all of Huntingdon; and several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, February 28
at 10:00 a.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel
with Dan Winkler officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn
Memorial Park.

Nora Beatrice Stafford
1918-2003
GREENFIELD: Services for Nora Beatrice Staffod, 85,
were at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 18 at Gallimore
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Phil Mitchell
officiating. Burial was in New Valley Cemetery.
Mrs. Stafford, retired employee of Kellwood, died
Monday, February 16 at the Weakley County Nursing Home.
She was born December 25, 1918 in Greenfield to the late
Clifford and Nora Mae Kennon Reece. She was a member of
the Morris Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Stafford; a
half-brother, Gale Wray of Tampa, Florida and a sister,
Eloise Holt of McKenzie.
Clara Elizabeth Davis
1920-2004
GLEASON: Services for Clara Elizabeth Davis, 83,
were at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 19 at Gallimore
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Copeland
officiating. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery.
Mrs. Davis, a retired nurses' aid at Hillview Nursing
Home, died on Monday, February 16 at McKenzie Health
Care Center.
She was born April 1, 1920 in Finley to the late Norman
and Bethel Rizlay Weedman. She was a member of Eastside
Baptist Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include three sons, James W. Davis and Robert
Paul Davis, both of Gleason and Hubert Davis of Newman,
Georgia; a daughter, Linda Davis of Gleason; a brother,
David Weedman of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; a sister, Ruby
Bride of Finley; five grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roba
Davis; a son, Aubrey Guy Davis and a brother, John
Robert Weedman.
Jennie Johnson
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Jennie Johnson, 79, died Monday,
March 1, from injuries sustained in an automobile
accident.
Funeral services were incomplete at press time. Mercer
Brothers Funeral Home in Jackson will be in charge of
the arrangements.
Survivors include five sons, Danny Johnson, James L.
Johnson, Robert Johnson, Jimmy Johnson and W.C. Johnson,
Jr., all of Smyrna; a sister, Willie Sue Gordon of
Huntingdon, and a brother, Arthur Hampton of Huntingdon.
She was the widow of Rev. W.C. Johnson. |
