Judith Ann Lockhart Richardson
1952-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Judith Ann Lockhart Richardson, 51,
passed away Saturday, May 8 at the Regional Medical
Center in Memphis. Services were conducted on Monday,
May 10 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel
with Bro. Lynn Stapleton officiating. Interment followed
in the Barron Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Richardson was born June 24, 1952 in Huntingdon to
the late James Marion and Eular Bradford Lockhart. She
was a factory worker for the Thomas Bradford Company.
She was also preceded in death by her stepfather,
William David Bush.
Survivors include one daughter, LouAnn Gateley of the
Leach Community; one son, Roy Michael Richardson, Jr. of
Huntingdon; one sister, Brenda Lockhart of Huntingdon
and three grandchildren.
Dona Frances Palmer
1914-2004
WHITEHAVEN: Dona Frances Palmer died May 9 at the
age of 90. She was born January 13, 1914 in Carroll
County to Benjamin and Susie Johnson. She had three
brothers and five sisters. She had been a member of
Whitehaven Baptist Church since 1956, where she taught
Sunday Scool for many years and was active in Keenagers.
Mrs. Palmer received a Master of Arts degree from
Memphis State University in Memphis in 1958 and was a
retired teacher. She began her teaching career in 1936
in rural Carroll County. Her career included teaching in
one-room schools in Weakley and Carroll counties.
Beginning in 1952, she taught two years each in Atwood
and McKenzie. In 1956 she taught at Graves Road School
and from that time other schools in Shelby County as
well. At the time of her death she was still a member of
the Tennessee Education Association.
Mrs. Palmer enjoyed reading and the outdoors, especially
her garden and flowers.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Frances Keller
and her husband John Keller of Durango, Colorado and
Charlotte S. Palmer of Nashville; her sister Minvera
Lewelling of Gleason and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was observed at Forest Hills South
Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m., May 11. Interment was at
Carroll County Memorial Gardens in McKenzie at 3:00 p.m.

Minnie Mae Wyatt
1902-2004
CLEVELAND, GEORGIA: Mrs. Minnie Mae Wyatt, 101,
formerly of Huntingdon, passed away Thursday, May 6 at
the Habersham Home in Cleveland. Funeral services were
conducted on Sunday, May 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the
Huntingdon First United Methodist Church with Dr. Paul
Mullikin officiating. Interment followed in the Pisgah
Cemetery.
Mrs. Wyatt was born August 30, 1902 in Atwood to the
late James J. and Jodie Blankenship Davis. She was a
homemaker and the oldest and one of the most dedicated
members of the Huntingdon First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Wyatt,
Sr., who died in 1961.
Survivors include one son, Larry Wyatt of Cleveland,
Georgia; one sister, Lula Davis of Memphis; two
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Ray Eugene Brandon
1933-2004
BUENA VISTA: Mr. Ray Eugene Brandon, 71, died on
Sunday, May 2 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in
Huntingdon. Services were conducted on Wednesday, May 5
at 2:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with
Brother Scott Carter officiating. Interment followed in
Liberty All Cemetery.
Mr. Brandon was born April 10, 1933 in Carroll County to
the late Will and Viola Rush Brandon. He was a retired
employee of Dilday Funeral Home. He was preceded in
death by a grandson, Michael Chandler and a sister,
Allie Mae Wilson.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Johnson and
Betty Corder, both of Huntingdon and Brenda McCartney of
Buena Vista; two stepdaughters, Sandra Hudgins and
Melinda Carter, both of Huntingdon; one stepson, Kevin
Smith of Gleason; two sisters, Dorothy Beal and Shirley
Crider, both of Huntingdon; two brothers, Johnny Brandon
of Hartford, Indiana and Paul Brandon of St. Louis,
Missouri; two grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and a

Maurice B. Mason
1925-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Maurice B. Mason, 78, died on
Tuesday, May 4 at his home. Graveside services were
conducted on Thursday, May 6 at 2:30 P.M. at Carter’s
Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Scott Carter officiating.
Mr. Mason was born May 22, 1925 in Kentucky to the late
Henry V. and Blonnie Mason. He was a self-employed
carpenter. He was also preceded in death by a sister,
Naomi Bates.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Mason and Pete Mason,
both of Huntingdon; two daughters, Teresa Mason of
Huntingdon and Anita Sawyers of McKenzie; two brothers,
Howard Mason of Sebree, Kentucky and Thomas V. Mason of
Lebanon; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mildred Corine Johnson
1910-2004
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Mildred Corine Johnson, 94, died on
Friday, May 7 at Huntingdon Health & Rehabilitation
Center. Memorial services were conducted at 6:00 p.m.,
Monday, May 10 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Johnson was born March 20, 1910 to the late William
and Mary Spicer Wade. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Samuel Johnson; six brothers, William Eugene
Wade, Clifford Wade, Nathaniel Spicer Wade, Thomas F.
Wade, Earl L. Wade and Robert C. Wade and one sister,
Annie L. Cox.
Following the death of her sister, Annie L. Cox, she
relocated to Huntingdon from Detroit, Michigan and
became owner and funeral director of Cox Funeral Home.
She became involved with many local organizations and
served as a valued community leader.
Survivors include one niece, Mary Ann Wade of
Southfield, Michigan; and six nephews, Rev. Earl Wade of
Huntingdon, Aaron Wade of Memphis and William Wade,
Samuel Wade, James Wade and Clarence Wade, all of

Pauline Perkins
1914-2004
CEDAR GROVE: Services for Mrs. Pauline Perkins, 89,
were at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 7 at Bodkin Funeral Home
with Brother Robert Barger and Brother Steve Martin
officiating. Burial followed at Cool Springs Cemetery in
Lavinia.
Mrs. Perkins passed away Wednesday, May 5 at
Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilford and
Mattie Mae Dickson; a sister, Iantha Dickson; two
brothers, Bill Dickson and Donald Dickson and a
daughter, Shirley Herndon.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Tidwell of Cedar
Grove; two grandsons; four granddaughters; seven
great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Cool Springs Cemetery Fund.
Sgt. First Class Wyatt Shankle
1961-2004
PARIS: Funeral services for Sgt. First Class Wyatt
Lane Shankle were at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 6 at the
First Baptist Church in Paris, where he had attended and
was a member of the Roy and Beverly Lewis Sunday school
class.
Rev. Jerry Massey and Sgt. Maj. James Johnson officiated
the service. Burial, with full military honors followed
at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Shankle, 42, died on Sunday, May 2 at Regional Medical
Center in Jackson. He was married on August 30, 1992 to
the former Sharon Turner, who survives.
Born September 12, 1961 in Henry County, he was the son
of Jimmie Wyatt Shankle and Carolyn Bomar Shankle of
Puryear.
He was a member of the Tennessee Army National Guard and
had served as a recruiter in Paris since 1988.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Stefanie
Suratt and Ashley Shankle, both of Puryear and one
sister, Tammie Roberts of Paris.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents,
Curtis and Jewel Bomar and paternal grandparents, Green
and Jonnie Shankle.

Thomasine Floyd
1928-2004
GLEASON: Services for Thomasine Floyd, 75, were at
11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 8 at the Gallimore Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Copeland officiating.
Interment followed in Brock Cemetery in Greenfield.
Mrs. Floyd, a homemaker, died on Thursday, May 6 at
McKenzie Regional Hospital. She was a member of Beech
Springs Baptist Church.
She was born November 24, 1928 in Gleason to the late
George Thomas and Hester Fowler McFarland. She was also
preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Floyd and two
sons, Kenneth Floyd and Randy Floyd.
Survivors include seven grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren. |
