Ethelbert S. “Junior” Perry
1931-2004
GLEASON: Services for Ethelbert S. “Junior” Perry,
73, were at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 11 at Williams
Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Copeland officiating.
Burial was in Beech Springs Cemetery in Gleason.
Mr. Perry, retired employee of Milan Arsenal, died
Tuesday, November 9 at Methodist Volunteer General
Hospital.
He was born March 10, 1931 in Henderson to the late
Sherman Perry and Dovie Mitchell Perry.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Legens Perry; a
daughter, Rita Ross of McKenzie; a son, Sherman Perry of
Gleason; two sisters, JoAnn Chapel of Greenfield and
Vonelle Lewis of Memphis.
Donald Bruce Nunn, Jr.
1936-2004
MCKENZIE: Memorial services for Donald Bruce Nunn,
Jr., 68, will be Wednesday, November 17 at 2:00 p.m. at
the Paris Community of Christ Church on Lone Oak Road
with Elders Paul Hudspeth and Dale Gallimore
officiating. Cremation will follow. The family will
receive friends at McKenzie Funeral Home on Tuesday
night, November 16, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Mr. Nunn, an auto body repairman for Jessick Collision
in Petoskey, MI died on Sunday, November 14 at The Med
in Memphis. He was a native of Harrington, Kansas and
was born on July 2, 1936 to the late Donald Bruce Nunn,
Sr. and Emma Montez Oliver Nunn. He was a member of the
Community of Christ Church in Paris and served in the
United States Navy from 1958-1960.
Survivors include his wife, Ronnie Nunn; two daughters,
Reni Nunn Toombs of McKenzie and Tammy R. Nunn of White
Lake, MI; one son, Robert “Bobby” Bruce Nunn of
McKenzie; one sister, Kristina Ann Olsen of Fountain,
MI; one brother, Richard Joe Nunn of Loveland, CO and
four grandchildren, Trevor Nunn, Travis Nunn, Riley
Toombs and Regan Toombs.
He was preceded in death by a son, Fredrick Allen Nunn.
Bennie Lee Curtis
1942-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Bennie Lee Curtis, 62, were
conducted on Friday, November 12 at the Greater Enon
Missionary Baptist Church in McKenzie. Interment
followed in Greenwood Cemetery in Paris.
Mr. Curtis died on Monday, November 8 at McKenzie
Regional Medical Center in McKenzie.
He was born March 5, 1942 in Dresden to the late B.T.
Curtis and Maggie Lee Milton. He was a member of Greater
Enon Missionary Baptist church and was employed at the
saw mill for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Sally B. Somerville of
Paris; two daughters, Carol Curtis of Brownsville and
Sabrina Curtis of Martin; two sons, Bennie Curtis Jr.
and Jermane Curtis, both of Paris; one sister, Edna Hill
of McKenzie; one brother, Troy Lee Curtis of Detroit,
Michigan and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Booker T.
Curtis and Hurley Allen and two sisters, Myra Mean
Dunlap and Lizzie B. Curtis.
Trinity Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Sherman Devault
1951-2004
HOLLOW ROCK: Services for Sherman Devault, 53, were
at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 13 at Bruceton Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy Hayes officiating. Burial
was in Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock. Military rites
were conducted at the gravesite.
Mr. Devault, a retired section foreman with CSX
Railroad, died on Wednesday, November 10 at his mother’s
farm near Hollow Rock.
He was born April 21, 1951 in Hollow Rock. He was an
army veteran, past local chairman for the Brotherhood of
Maintenance of Way, former fire chief and alderman for
the Town of Hollow Rock.
Survivors include his wife, Beth Cary Devault; his son,
Jeremy Devault of Hollow Rock; his mother, Virginia
Devault of Hollow Rock and a brother, Danny Devault of
Bruceton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wade Maurice
Devault; a daughter, Selena Devault and a brother, Mark
Devault.
Eva Gray Harper
1923-2004
PARIS: Services for Eva Gray Harper, 81, were at
1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 13 at Ridgeway funeral
Home with David Mooney officiating. Burial was in the
Bradford Cemetery in Bradford.
Mrs. Harper, a former dietician at Lakehaven Nursing
Home in Benton, died on Wednesday, November 10 at
McKenzie Regional Hospital. She was a member of the
Victory Fellowship Church.
She was born July 1, 1923 in Benton, Kentucky to the
late Will and Lola Jackson Norsworthy. She was married
on March 19, 1938 to Paul Jackson Harper, who died
December 14, 1988.
Among her 123 living descendants, she leaves five
daughters, Dixie A. Raymer of Paris, Donna F. Hodge of
Henry, Bobbie Jones of Puryear, Theresa A. Lowe of
Gleason and Sherry E. Key of Jackson; three sons, Ronnie
James Harper of Paris, Len E. Harper of Greenfield and
Jimmy Harper of Benton; two brothers, L.D. Norsworthy of
Michigan and Joe Norsworthy of Lexington, Kentucky; 56
grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Carolyn June
Harper and Patricia A. Davis; two sons, Lubie and
Delbert Harper; two sisters, Robbie Thompson and Triva
Canup and three brothers, Rob, Nelo and J.T. Norsworthy.
Barbara A. Savage Hollis
1951-2004
CAMDEN: Services for Barbara A. Savage Hollis, 52,
were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 16 at Brummitt
Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Welty officiating.
Burial was in Liberty Cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Hollis, disabled, died Sunday, November 14 at Henry
County Medical Center Home Health and Hospice.
She was born December 9, 1951 in Linden. She was a
member of Holladay Church of Christ.
Survivors include her mother, Mary Elizabeth Molloy
Savage; nine brothers, Paul Savage, Joe Savage and Harry
Savage, all of McKenzie; Freddie Savage and Wendell
Savage, both of Henry; Steven Savage of Coco, Florida,
Mike Savage of Paris, Jeff Savage of Chicago, Illinois
and Larry Savage of Paducah, Kentucky; a sister, Vera
Shipp of McKenzie and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thelbert Paul
Savage, Sr.
Elmer Gene Nunnery
1936-2004
MCKENZIE: Graveside services for Elmer Gene Nunnery,
68, were at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 10 at
Hopewell Cemetery with the Rev. Glen Cooley officiating.
Mr. Nunnery, retired from Norandal and a member of the
United States Air Force and Army National Guard, died
Tuesday, November 9 at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
He was born March 14, 1936 in Phillipy to the late Enoch
Jackson and Bonnie Lorene Moore Nunnery. He was a member
of the Trezevant First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Janet JoAnn Mann Nunnery;
three sons, Alan Nunnery of Milan, Gary Nunnery of
Hommassa, Florida and Rick Nunnery of Coatesville,
Pennsylvania; a daughter, Terri Shands of McKenzie;
three brothers, Leo Nunnery of Gleason, Dale Nunnery of
Lebanon and Bob Nunnery of Dresden; eight grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren.
Robert M. Singleton, Sr.
1909-2004
TREZEVANT: Services for Robert M. Singleton, Sr.,
95, were at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 12 at Brummitt
Funeral Home in Trezevant with Bro. Dennis Beal
officiating. Burial was in Republican Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Singleton, a farmer, died Wednesday, November 10 at
McKenzie Regional Hospital.
He was born May 31, 1909 in Trezevant to the late Clint
Singleton and Cora Singleton. He was a member of
Republican Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Robert M. Singleton, Jr. of
Atwood and Billy Singleton of Savannah, Georgia; a
daughter, Grace Brockman of Trezevant; seven
grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lookie Smith
Singleton.
Lillie Ruth Smothers
1920-2004
HUNTINGDON: Services for Lillie Ruth Smothers, 84,
were conducted on Saturday, November 13 at 1:00 p.m. at
Dilday Funeral Home East Visitation Room with Brother
Fred Ward officiating. Interment followed in the Carroll
Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Smothers died Thursday, November 11 after a long
illness.
She was born in Carroll County on February 16, 1920 to
the late James and Maggie Patterson.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Charles
Andrew Smothers; a son, Jerry Dale Smothers, two
grandsons and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by two children, Larry Randall
Smothers and Charlene Smothers, and one brother, Luther

Robert Raymond Troutwine
1925-2004
HOLLOW ROCK: Services for Robert Raymond Troutwine,
78, were at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 16 at Marlboro
Church of Christ with the Rev. Joe Abbott officiating.
Mr. Troutwine, a retired mill press operator with Verson
All Steel Products, died on Friday, November 12 at
Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was born November 26, 1925 in Springfield, Ohio to
the late Charles Raymond Troutwine and Ethel Emma
Umbenhaver Troutwine. He was a World War II Army veteran
and former director of the Carroll County Chapter of the
American Red Cross, member and past commander of Hollow
Rock VFW Post 4349.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Joyce Troutwine
of Hollow Rock and Toni Rae Hence of East Chicago,
Illinois; three sons, Gerald Keith Troutwine of
Westville, Indiana, Thomas Eugene Troutwine of
Springfield, Ohio and Robin Lee Troutwine of San Diego,
California.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia “Ginny”
Troutwine.
Betty Sue Weatherford
1910-2004
FRIENDSHIP: Services for Betty Sue Weatherford, 94,
were held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, November 14 at
Friendship Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Thomas Vickers and
Rev. Eugene Leslie officiating. Burial was in
Bellevernon Cemetery.
Mrs. Weatherford, a homemaker and widow of Willie Elbert
Weatherford, died Friday, November 12 at Jackson Madison
County General Hospital.
She was a member of Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian
Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for
50 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Wicker of Alamo and
Mary Ruth Britt of Knoxville; two grandchildren
including Garry Wicker of Hollow Rock; three
great-grandchildren (Jana Higdon of Bruceton) and two
great-great-grandchildren.
Richard Andrew “Andy” Williamson
1975-2004
NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Services for Richard Andrew
“Andy” Williamson, 29, formerly of Huntingdon, were
conducted on Friday, November 12, at 10:00 a.m. in the
Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Phillip Halters,
Bro. James Stewart and Bro. Tim Maness officiating.
Interment followed in the New Liberty Cemetery.
Mr. Williamson died on Wednesday, October 13 in New
Orleans.
He was born February 18, 1975 in Jackson. He was a
Mariner Merchant Marine for the Coast Guard. He was
preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Frank
Roser and one aunt.
Survivors include his father and mother, Dr. Steve
Williamson and Evelyn Williamson of Huntingdon; his
paternal grandparents, John Daniel and Rita Williamson
of Cedar Grove; his maternal grandmother, Martha Roser
of Huntingdon; two sisters, Marcella Carder of
Huntingdon and Heather Williamson of Knoxville.
Lorene Dodd McDade
1914-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Lorene Dodd McDade, 90,
formerly of the Big Buck Community will be held on
Friday, November 19 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cedar Avenue
Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home with the Revs. Frankie
Brockman and Thomas Moody officiating. Burial will
follow in the Union Academy Cemetery. Visitation will be
Thursday night from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday morning
from 9:00 a.m. until time for the serve.
Mrs. McDade, retired from Henry I. Siegel, died Sunday
night, November 14 at McKenzie Health Care Center.
She was born October 2, 1914 to the late Reuben and Mary
Noles. She married Milton McDade and they had 55 years
together before he died of cancer.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Dixie Ann Laney Trevathan
1959-2004
GLEASON: Services for Dixie Ann Laney Trevathan, 45,
will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 17 at Beech
Springs Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob
Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell
Cemetery.
Mrs. Trevathan, a floral designer at St. Charles Flowers
and Gifts in Martin, died Monday, November 15 at her
home.
She was born January 4, 1959 in Milan to the late
William Joseph Laney and Maudie Hammonds McGowan. She
was preceded in death by her stepfather, Delmar D.
McGowan. She was a member of the Beech Springs
Missionary Baptist Church in Gleason.
Survivors include her husband, John Trevathan; two sons,
Adam Wray and Alex Wray, both of Martin; a stepson, Evan
Trevathan of Paris; a stepdaughter, Callee Trevathan of
Clarksville; three brothers, Mitchell McGowan of
Dresden, Delwayne McGowan and Stuart McGowan, both of
Milan; a sister, Tammy Morgan of Dresden and her
maternal grandmother, Alma Hammonds.
Bobby Lee Petty, Jr.
1971-2004
HUNTINGDON: Bobby Lee Petty, Jr., 33, died Friday
morning, November 12 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in
Huntingdon. Visitation was held Sunday night, November
14 at Casey Funeral Home in Henderson.
He was born in Kilgore, Texas, attended high school in
Kilgore and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Jackson State
Community College in Jackson He was a computer
programmer for Host and Stream in Nashville. He had
served two years in the United States Army.
Survivors include his mother, Rose Mary Mixon of
Henderson; his father, Bobby Lee Petty, Sr., of Houston,
Texas; a son, Bobby Lee Petty III and two daughters,
Brandy Petty and Lori Petty, all of Huntingdon; his
fiancée, Janet Utzman Petty; and two sisters, Shawn Hunt
of Atwood and Jeannie Petty of Trezevant. |
