Edith Lenore Rushing
1903-2004
GLEASON: Services for Edith Lenore Rushing, 100,
were held on Sunday, September 5 at the Gallimore
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Pinnell officiating.
Interment followed at Rushing Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Rushing, a retired school teacher, died on
Thursday, September 2 at McKenzie Memorial Hospital.
She was born September 22, 1903 in McKenzie to the late
John and Alice Lillian Montgomery Dunlap. She was the
widow of Paul Jones Rushing.
Mrs. Dunlap was a member of the Gleason Cumberland
Presbyterian Church. There were no immediate survivors.
Bobby Fred Smith
1939-2004
ATWOOD: Services for Bobby Fred Smith, 65, were at
11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 11 at McKenzie Funeral
Home Cedar Avenue Chapel with Rev. Benny Keymon
officiating. Interment followed in the Chaney and Greer
Cemetery in Leach.
Mr. Smith, a farmer, died on Thursday, September 9 at
McKenzie Regional Hospital.
He was born on June 9, 1939 in Warren, Kentucky to the
late Lottie Manco and Oliver Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Mae Mayo Smith; one
daughter, Tina Mae Smith and one son, Bobby Wayne Smith,
both of Atwood; one sister, Hester Rook; one brother,
Wayne Smith and five grandchildren.
Troy Haywood
1929-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Troy Haywood, 75, were on
Saturday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the Dilday
Funeral Home. Interment followed in the New Hope
Cemetery in Yuma.
Mr. Haywood died on Thursday, September 9 at Magnolia
Manor in McKenzie.
He was born October 5, 1929 in Rosser to the late Romie
and Callie Parish Haywood. He was a farmer.
Survivors include a brother, James Haywood of

Richard Gale Newbill
1942-2004
TREZEVANT: Services for Richard Gale Newbill, 61,
were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 13 at
Union Academy Baptist Church with Bro. Jim Reynolds
officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Newbill died on Saturday, September 11 at his home.
He was born September 12, 1942 in the Big Buck Community
to the late Joe and Vivian Hall Newbill. He was a
retired dental technician for BellSouth and a member of
the Union Academy Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Smith Newbill; two
sons, Brian Newbill of Clarksville and Randy Newbill of
Big Buck; three brothers, Jerrell Newbill of Trezevant,
Giles Newbill of Camden and Terry Newbill of Big Buck;
and one sister, Carolyn Newbill of Big Buck.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Sarah Frances Neal Snead
1932-2004
PARIS: Services for Sarah Frances Neal Snead, 72,
were on Sunday, September 12 at McEvoy Funeral Home in
Paris with burial at Shiloh Cemetery near McKenzie.
Mrs. Neal died on Thursday, September 9 in Paris. She
was the widow of Robert Luther Snead and the daughter of
the late Joe T. Neal and Pearl Bunn Neal. She attended
Union University and was a graduate of Bethel College.
She was a schoolteacher in West Memphis, Arkansas and
later at Atkins Porter School in Paris.
Surviving are her nephew and his wife, Paul and Betty
Neal and niece, Mable Linton, all of Henry, a
sister-in-law, Winnie Moore and another niece, LeAnne
Johnson, both of Dresden.
Doris Kennedy Hurley
1929-2004
CAMDEN: Graveside services for Doris Kennedy Hurley,
74, were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 12 at New
Prospect Cemetery near Hollow Rock.
Mrs. Hurley, a housewife, died on Friday, September 10
at Life Care in Bruceton.
She was born December 23, 1929 in Henning to the late
Alpheus and Annine Burnham Kennedy. She was a member of
the Camden First Baptist Church and Builder’s Class. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Hurley.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Bradshaw of
Bruceton and Barbara Mays of Memphis; two sons, Marvin
Hurley of Memphis and David Hurley of Knoxville; three
brothers, Donald Kennedy of Florida, Thomas Kennedy of
San Antonio, Texas and Ralph Kennedy of Memphis; eight
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Jeffie J. Williams
1924-2004
MCKENZIE: Services for Jeffie J. Williams, 80, were
at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 11 at Wingo Baptist
Church. Burial was in Wingo Cemetery. Rawls Funeral Home
was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Williams died on Tuesday, September 7 at McKenzie
Healthcare Center.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Williams; two
sisters, Odessa Woodford and Ada Hill; two brothers,
Henry Williams and Clyde Williams, all of Cleveland,
Ohio; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a
devoted friend, Lovella Adkisson of Trezevant. |
